Control device to keep a state variable such as temperature, pressure, humidity constant. The invention relates to a control device for keeping a state variable constant, such as temperature, pressure, moisture, for example, in which a control element is provided on the pointer of a measuring instrument.
The invention consists in that, by means of the control member, heat is extracted from a heating element designed as a heating wire and heated with constant energy, depending on the pointer position, in such a way that the temperature change caused by this heat extraction causes a change in length of the heating wire, which leads to Actuation of the control element is used and that the arrangement is made so in each individual case,
da.ss .das means of heat extraction have no disruptive effect on the direction of movement of the pointer.
It is therefore essential for the invention that the heating element supplied with constant energy, from which heat is extracted by means of the control element arranged on the pointer, is designed as a heating wire.
This is of crucial importance because you can only use the heating wire as a control wire in this way,. @ Because you can only get an extremely small mass for the radiator that has little inertia, follows the control pulse quickly and because you nevertheless receives a large control force due to the change in length of the heating wire.
The invention is not to be confused with an electric hot wire instrument in which the unknown, variable electric current to be measured is passed through a wire and the change in length that occurs according to the measurement of the current is transmitted to a pointer mechanism.
Heat can be extracted from the heating wire in various ways, for example by providing an auxiliary nozzle connected to the pointer, through which the air flow constantly exits.
Instead of air, any other gaseous medium can be used. It is advisable to install a manual control in the stationary air or gaseous medium supply for precise setting of the flow rate, by means of which the pressure is regulated to about 0.1 mm water column.
In order to keep the air pressure to a minimum and thus to offer the utmost guarantee of avoiding reaction forces, air that is warmer than the ambient air can be supplied to flow out through the auxiliary nozzle.
It can also be provided that the heating wire and auxiliary valve are attached to a plate which is rotatably arranged in the instrument axis and is designed as a pointer for the setpoint adjustment at its end remote from the instrument axis.
Another possibility to withdraw heat from the heating wire supplied with constant energy according to the pointer position is that a foil of metals with high thermal conductivity (silver) is attached to the pointer of the galvanometric instrument.
Since it is important according to the invention that a constant heating energy is supplied to the heating wire, in the event of very strong fluctuations, for example a local energy source for this heating current, these fluctuations can be compensated for or special means can be provided to achieve a constant voltage, for example, upstream an iron resistor arranged in a hydrogen atmosphere.
In the event that a metallic absorption surface is arranged on the pointer of the galvanometric instrument, it is also possible to ensure that the same room temperature always prevails within the instru ment, for example by giving the housing of the galvanometric instrument wholly or partially a double wall , the space between which is ventilated, for example, by connecting it to the compressed air serving as a control valve.
The invention is illustrated with reference to: the drawing on an exemplary embodiment in more detail: The figure shows a section through the galvanometric controller and schematically the mode of operation of the entire arrangement.
In detail, the gas-heated furnace to be monitored is designated by 1, the temperature of which is taken with the aid of the thermocouples 2 from. The wires 3 and 4 of this thermocouple lead to the coil 6 of the galvanometric instrument 7, which is mounted in the interior of the magnet system 5, the temperature of which is calibrated in the present case.
As can also be seen, sits in a known manner on the coil 6 of the pointer 9, while independent of the pointer system inside the housing of the heating wire 10 is fastened, which is ruled out by means of wires 11 and 12 on the network in a suitable circuit.
The heating wire 10 is used to control the auxiliary valve 16, which in turn brings the control means to the control valve 17 to act. This happens because the heating wire 10 is fastened at one end in the interior of the instrument housing and is guided via a roller 36 to one end of the double-armed lever 37 on which the slide 38 of the auxiliary valve engages.
It can also be seen from the figure that the heating wire 10, the slide 38 and the nozzle 16 cooperating with this slide are attached to a plate 39 which is rotatably arranged in the instrument axis and at its end 39a facing away from the instrument axis as Pointer is designed for setting the setpoint.
In the exemplary embodiment, the auxiliary nozzle 40 is designed as a U and firmly connected to the galvanometer coil 6, the end of the free leg being able to lie opposite the heating wire 10 and the end of the other leg in the Instrument shaft facing the air supply pipe 41. The nozzle therefore necessarily follows the movements of the coil 6.
As can be seen from the drawing, the heating wire 10 is designed as a U . The vertex of the U is the roll 36.
To ensure the desired effect according to the invention, @that the means of heat removal does not have any disruptive retroactive effect on the direction of movement of the pointer, i.e. H. So: that in the present case: the air flow flowing out of the nozzle 40 does not influence the position of the pointer 9, the arrangement is made such that:
the nozzle 40 is designed as a U aligned in a radial plane, the inner leg of which opens out in the instrument axis. In this way it is impossible for the air flow flowing out of the auxiliary nozzle 40 to influence the position of the pointer 9. It depends on the fact that the air flow does not blow the pointer on one side.
One advantage of the U-shaped design of the heating wire 10 is that in this way a. ; larger heating wire can be accommodated in the smallest possible space. This is important for obtaining a large steering force.
As described, the control force acts on an auxiliary valve, which in the present exemplary embodiment consists of the slide 38 and the nozzle 16 opposite this slide. The compressed air emerging from this nozzle is, depending on the position of the slide 38, deflected in the following way: The line 42 leads namely Drwekluft of 1 atm. It is connected to: the control element 17 by the line 43. From: the Lei device 43, the line 49 is branched off, which opens into the open at the nozzle 16. The line 42 is separated from the line 43 by an adjustable throttle 45.
With the help of the throttle 45, the amount of air that passes through is set so that: the pressure in the lines 43 and 49 is about 0.1 atmospheres when the nozzle 16 is open. If the nozzle 16 is closed more or less by the slide 38, the air outlet is throttled with the effect that the pressure in the lines 49 and 43 increases. This has the consequence that the control element 17 is more or less closed in accordance with the pressure increase.
It can be used to actuate: the control element, in the present case the control valve 17, any suitable auxiliary valve serve.
While in the case of the extraction of heat by an air stream to avoid a disturbing reaction: this air stream on the direction of movement of the pointer requires a special arrangement of the auxiliary nozzle, from which the air stream emerges, in relation to the pointer, this effect is obtained quite automatically, if for heat extraction on the pointer:
of the instrument is a foil made of metals of high thermal conductivity. In this case, the arrangement is expediently made in such a way that .the control element, which vibrates in the immediate vicinity of the heating wire and acts as a cooling element, which is expediently designed over a large area, for example as a film, on the side facing the heating wire:
has an absorption capacity that is greater than that of the heating wire and that the heating wire has such a low heat capacity that its temperature changes as much as possible depending on the position of the control element. In this case too, the heating wire is expediently designed as a U .
The arrangement can be met in detail, as shown in the figure; Here: one has to ken away only the auxiliary nozzle 40 and imagine that the U-shaped heating wire 10 guided over the roller 36 is at the level of the pointer to which the heat-absorbing film is attached.
Both in the case of an auxiliary nozzle 40 and in the case of a heat-absorbing film, the effect of heat extraction is resp. : the heat absorption @ de # depends on the position: of the pointer, because both the auxiliary nozzle and the foil are attached to the pointer, while the heating wire is fixed in place or can be set arbitrarily, i.e. independently of the pointer position, to set the setpoint.
Wise indicated by dashed lines, the U -shaped nozzle for balancing can be double-sided; however, nothing stands in the way of balancing in a manner known per se using counterweights.
