Process for the preparation of a new acidic 1Vlonoazo dye. The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a new acidic monoazo dye suitable for dyeing animal fibers.
According to the invention, the new dye is obtained by coupling 2-Sidfo-5-chloroacetylamino-1-aniline diazotized in acidic medium with 2-amino-8-naphthol-6-sulfonic acid.
The new dye forms a brownish-tinged purple powder and is soluble in water to form a red solution and in sulfuric acid to form a brown solution. It dyes wool from an acid bath in red shades, which are characterized by excellent fastness properties against heavy washing, fulling and exposure to light.
The present invention is illustrated by the following example without being limited thereto. The parts mean parts by weight. Example: 12.5 parts of 36% strength hydrochloric acid are added to 200 parts of a cooled, aqueous solution containing 13.2 parts of 2-sulfo-5-chloroacetylamino-1-aniline, whereupon an aqueous Adding a solution of 3.45 parts of sodium nitrite.
The diazo compound obtained in this way is filtered if necessary and a solution of 12 parts of 2-amino-8-naphthol-6-sulfonic acid, prepared by dissolving the acid in 175 parts of water with caustic soda, weakly acidic to litmus of the so-called at 5-10 C obtained solution by means of acetic acid and subsequent addition of 13.6 parts of sodium acetate crystals.
Stirring is continued for several hours until the coupling is complete. The new dye is then isolated by heating to 55 ° C., adding sodium chloride and, after brief stirring, by filtering it.
This dye dissolves in water with red and in conc. Sulfuric acid with a brown color. It dyes wool in red shades as long as the dyebath contains 8% sulfuric acid (based on the weight of the material to be dyed). These dyeings have excellent fastness properties against heavy washing, fulling and against the action of light. They are also extremely resistant to sweat.
