Ein Ausführungsbeispiel des erfindungs gemässen Gerätes zum Metallspritzen ist in der Zeichnung dargestellt, und eine beispiels- weise Ausführungsform des Verfahrens sei im Zusammenhang mit diesem beschrieben. In der Zeichnung zeigt: Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht einer Spritz pistole, teilweise im Längsschnitt; Fig. 2 zeigt eine Stirnansicht der Spritz pistole von hinten; Fig. 3 zeigt einen waagrechten Schnitt durch einen Teil der Explosionskammer und die zugehörigen Ventile; Fig. 4 zeigt einen senkrechten Schnitt durch das Vorschubgetriebe nach Linie IV bis IV in Fig. 1;
Method and device for spraying thermoplastic materials. The present invention relates to a process for spraying thermoplastic Ma materials, such as metals, insulating materials, resins, etc., z. B. trains for the purpose of producing dense over, and a device for performing this method.
With the methods previously known for metal spraying, it was not possible to bezw dense and sufficiently firmly adhering metal layers on the substrate. To achieve metallic coatings, this was due both to the inadequacy of the so-called spray metallization process and the equipment used for this purpose, the spray guns.
In all known processes, the metal to be melted, which was usually introduced in wire form, came into much too close and too long contact with the oxyhydrogen flame, which was already too hot in itself, so that some of it, especially when it came to low-melting metals, oxidized and had to burn and the metal particles torn off by the conveying gas were no longer in a liquid, but at best in a plastic, but mostly already strongly compressed state.
In addition there was the cooling effect of the conveying gas and, insofar as an inert gas was not used here, the oxidizing effect of the same, which enveloped the individual metal particles in an oxide skin. The cooling effect of the conveying gas on the metal particles went so far that you could hold your hand in the metal jet in close proximity to the nozzle without further damage.
All of these factors combined meant that a coating produced in this way was always more or less porous, as the individual metal particles were only mechanically bonded to one another, so to speak, and had only completely inadequate adhesion to the substrate, even if it was metallic.
Also, the speed shared with the molten metal particles by the conveying gas was much too slow to bring all the particles to the base, so that as a result of this circumstance and the oversized scattering of the spray cone, the greater part of the metal sinks as the particles fall In the form of more or less sintered and oxidized metal powder was lost, which of course greatly impaired the economy of the spraying process.
The extent to which the coatings obtained were contaminated by sintering and oxidation and deprived of their metallic character is best shown by the dull and dull appearance of the coating surface, which in many cases hardly gave the impression of being metal.
Another disadvantage of the previous Ver drive and pistols was particularly evident in cases where it was a question of certain metals, such as. B. lead and antimony to spray zen by this extremely noxious, the workers very annoying vapors and dust, so that one limited the spraying of such metals despite the great importance of such coatings to the absolutely necessary level and the health damage accepted.
In addition, it was not possible with the previous methods without special, costly pre- or post-treatment, to provide metallic objects that were exposed to bad weather in the open air or in chemical equipment to the action of corrosive liquids and vapors with reliable corrosion protection, as has been shown in many ways in practice.
The invention makes it possible to eliminate all shortcomings mentioned.
According to the method according to the invention, the material to be sprayed is melted by the heat generated in the explosions of a combustible mixture and thrown onto the base under the influence of the explosion pressure by means of the hot combustion gases.
The device for carrying out this method has an explosion chamber provided with fuel gas-oxygen supply and ignition means, which opens into at least one nozzle for ejecting the molten material.
Thanks to these measures z. B. in metal spraying, the metal, which is usually introduced into the explosion chamber in wire form, is completely melted by the heat of the explosion, i.e. converted into the liquid state, but the heat exposure of each individual explosion flame is usually much too short to cause combustion or sintering of the metal.
The respectively under the influence of the explosion. The metal particles torn off and thrown out by the hot combustion gases, which also do not undergo oxidation in the inert atmosphere of the combustion gases, are ejected through the nozzle at a speed due to the high gas pressure that is not possible with a pressurized conveying gas supplied under expansion in the previous manner can almost be reached, and in addition, the metal particles in the hot explosion gases not only do not suffer any cooling when flowing out of the nozzle,
on the contrary, they still heat up due to the flight friction due to the high speed. The consequence is that z. B. When covering a base, the particles thrown onto the base in a molten state have to deform due to the impact force and form such an intimate connection between themselves and with the base, especially if the latter is metallic, that a thick, firmly adhering coating arises, the metallic structure and appearance of which is the same as that of a rolled sheet, in particular on the side that rests against the substrate (e.g. a glass plate). Indeed, the metal beam is so hot that it is impossible to hold your hand in some distance from the nozzle, and that, for example, the coating z.
B. adheres firmly to glass plates. In addition, due to the high ejection speed and temperature of the gases, the metal beam does not suffer any scattering, but rather forms a compact beam in the surrounding cold medium due to the tendency towards contractions and no metal particles fall down, so that they all get onto the substrate there is practically no metal loss. Furthermore, as has been shown in practice, the resulting vapor formation when spraying lead, antimony, etc. is not stronger than z. B. when pouring these metals, so that this harmful health disadvantage is reduced to a tolerable level.
The device can be designed in the most varied of ways. The nozzle is expediently set at the outlet end of the explosion chamber and has a guide shaft for the metal wire that extends through the entire explosion chamber. In this way, the molten metal particles are torn out and thrown away by the explosive gases emerging at the mouth opening of the wire guide channel in a jet-pump-like effect. However, several nozzles could also be arranged in an explosion chamber, each of which receives a metal wire supplied.
The specified arrangement of the central guide shaft has the advantage that the metal wire does not come into contact with the explosion flame at all, but is only melted by conduction heat, so that even with the lowest-melting metals, any combustion or sintering is impossible.
Acetylene is expediently used to operate the device and pure oxygen is supplied for combustion. It has been shown in practice that the consumption of acetylene and oxygen is much lower than in previous processes, which can be easily explained from the nature of the process, since the kinetic energy of the combustion gases in the same time as the heat developed is exploited in the most rational way.
An exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention for metal spraying is shown in the drawing, and an exemplary embodiment of the method will be described in connection therewith. The drawing shows: FIG. 1 a side view of a spray gun, partly in longitudinal section; Fig. 2 shows an end view of the spray gun from behind; 3 shows a horizontal section through part of the explosion chamber and the associated valves; FIG. 4 shows a vertical section through the feed gear according to line IV to IV in FIG. 1;
Fig. 5 shows a detail in section; Fig. 6 shows a vertical section along line VI-VI in Fig. 1; 7 shows a longitudinal section through the pressure piston drive for the feed gear; Fig. 8 shows a distributor disk in perspective; FIG. 9 shows a view of a mixing disk and FIG. 10 shows the transmission spring mechanism for the feed in view; Fig.11 shows a valve body in a perspective view.
The spray gun shown in the drawing has a two-part handle 1 (Fig. 1 and 2) with handguard 2 and includes the supply pipes 3 and 4 for acetylene A and oxygen 0 and the ignition line 5 to the spark plug 6 of the explosion chamber 7th between The two shells of the handle 1 held together by screws are clamped in a flat metal handle 8 (Fig. 1 and 6), which at the upper end has a transverse flange 9 for fastening the explosion chamber by means of screws 10 and a flange 11 for fastening the feed gear by means of screws 1.2 has.
At the lower end of the handle 1 sit two spindle taps 13 and 14 for the acetylene and oxygen supply, which can be adjusted by hand to regulate the gas supply and wear hose nipples on their un tern outlet ends. The earth line 5m for the ignition is also connected to the tap body.
The pear-shaped explosion chamber tapered towards the outlet IM nozzle end, which is provided with cooling ribs on the circumference, has a screwed-in bottom 7b by means of which it is attached to the flange 9. In the bottom 7b of the explosion chamber of the guide shaft 15 for the metal wire M to be inserted is screwed centrally. The guide shaft protrudes with its rear end from the explosion chamber and has longitudinal ribs 15r on its inner half of the explosion chamber to increase the heat absorption for the purpose of supplying the required heat of fusion to the fuse wire running in the central bore channel.
The front end of the guide shaft is formed into a nozzle cone 15k (FIG. 1) and protrudes into the nozzle attachment 7a at the front end of the explosion chamber, so that between the shaft end 15k and the conical bore of the nozzle attachment 7a taper towards the outlet end the annular channel 7d consists, which is the exit end of the kletalldraht concentrically around and through which the explosion gases escape. A sound-absorbing sleeve 16 is screwed onto the outside of the nozzle attachment 7a.
Immediately behind the nozzle extension 7a, the explosion chamber has an opening on the underside into which the ignition plug 6 is screwed, to which the current through the insulated line 5 is fed. Both the housing of the explosion chamber and the nozzle attachment 7a and the guide shaft 15 are made of scale-resistant steel, since the latter in particular is subject to high temperatures during operation.
In the closing base 7b of the wall of the explosion chamber, the connection nipples 17 for the gas supply pipes 3 and 4 (FIGS. 3 and 8) are inserted on both sides of the guide shaft 15.
In the axes of the two nipples 17 of the bottom 7 b has two holes for the valve body 23 for Aze tylen and 24 for oxygen (Figure 3). Each of these valve bodies has a shaft with a square cross-section (FIG. 11) and with broken longitudinal edges, which are precisely fitted into the bore for the purpose of guidance, so that the gas can pass through the segment-shaped channels that remain free along the shaft. Each of the two valve bodies has a double cone at the end.
The double cone of the valve body 24 sits in the position shown in Figure 3 with its shaft-side cone on a seat in the end bottom 7b and in the raised position with the outer cone on a seat in the valve seat disc 18, which rests directly on the end bottom.
Similarly, the valve body 23 sits in one position with its stem-side cone on a seat in the bottom 7b, the outer cone of this valve body has a transverse groove, so that it only causes a stroke limitation in the raised position of the valve body without however, lie on the seat in the valve seat disc 18, so that the acetylene can pass through in this position of the valve body.
On the valve seat disk 18 is a mixing disk 19 (Fig. 9) and on this a distributor disk 20 (Fig. 8) is placed, namely the three disks 18, 19 and 20 by means of the head screws 21 (Fig. 1) close together and attached to the bottom 7b. Through the valve seat disk 18 and the mixing disk 19 give channels through the valve seats, and the two disks also have bores and grooves connecting these channels on their end faces.
The arrangement is such that when the valve body 24 is raised, the oxygen can enter the explosion chamber through the mixing disk and the distributor disk during the floating position of the valve cone and flush it, while when the valve body 24 is completely lifted, the oxygen through secondary bores that remain open in grooves and Holes of the mixing disc can enter to get there with. the acetylene, which can now also escape as a result of the valve body 23 being abraded, to mix, whereupon the mixture can flow from the channels 197, ^ on the inner and outer circumference of the mixing disk into the explosion chamber to ignite there.
The drive cylinder 25 (Fix. 1, 3, 8 and 9) is fastened with its longitudinal axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the explosion chamber on a lateral lobe of the flange 9. The piston 26, in the cavity of which a return spring 27 is inserted, lies in this cylinder. The piston rod 28 is led out at the rear end of the cylinder 25 and engages with an eye 28 'on the drive pin of the wire feed gear. A line 29 emanating from the explosion chamber 7 is connected to the cylinder 25 by means of a nipple 30 (Fix. 3 and 7), so that the influx of combustion gases causes the piston 26 to move backwards against the action of the return spring 27 with each explosion receives.
At the rear end of the gun, the wire feed gear is arranged in a closed housing 31 with a cover 31 ′ that can be opened around the hinge 32. In the Ge housing 31 (Fix. 1. and 4) sits a transverse axis 33, on which a clamping lock 34 of known type is rotatably mounted on one side. The outer coupling part of the locking mechanism has a hub sleeve 35 extending almost over the entire length of the axis 33, and a second locking mechanism 36 of the same design is arranged on this, locking in the opposite direction of rotation.
Next to this clamping lock 36 sits a disk 37 '(fix. 5) which has a slot into which projections of the hub sleeve 35 and the hub of the clamping lock 36 protrude and the latter is coupled to the hub sleeve 35 in this way. In addition to the locking mechanism 34 ', a spring housing 37 (Fix. 4 and 10) is arranged in which a coil spring 38 is closed, the outer end of which is attached to the inner circumference of the spring housing and the inner end of which is attached to the hub sleeve 35.
On the spring housing 37 between this and the locking mechanism 36 on the hub sleeve 35 rotatable feed wheel 39 be fastened. The same has a wedge-shaped, profiled circumferential groove serving to accommodate the metal wire, the wedge flanks of which are grooved. A counter-disk 40 presses the metal wire M against the flanks of the groove of the feed wheel 39. The axis 41 of the counter-wheel 40 is mounted in a rocker 42 housed in the housing cover 31 ', on the front end of which a spring 44 supported in the sleeve 43 presses. A screwed nipple 45 on the rear face of the housing 31 serves to introduce the metal wire.
The inner coupling part of the locking mechanism 34 has a crank pin 34 'protruding laterally from the housing 31, on which the eye 28' of the piston rod 28 engages. Each drive impulse of the piston 26 is transmitted by the drive lock 34 to the spiral spring 38, so that it remains tensioned with the assistance of the Remmgesperres 36 and transfers the intermittent reciprocating piston movement as a continuous rotary movement to the feed wheel 39.
It has been shown in practice that the suction effect existing at the nozzle tip has a considerable supporting effect on the feed movement of the wire.
The operation of the device described is according to the fiction, according to the method as follows: The control cocks 13 and 14 for the acetylene and oxygen supply are opened to the required extent and the ignition switched on so that the spark on the spark plug 6 either as a standing spark or when provided Interrupter crosses intermittently.
The pressure of the incoming gases now lifts the two. Valve bodies 23 and 24 from their seat on the floor 7b, and when the valve body 24 is in a state of sch \ vebezustand first an oxygen surge occurs through the distributor disc 20 in the explosion chamber, through which a cooling of the gas residues is effected in continuous operation, to prevent pre-ignition. As soon as the valve body 24 comes to rest on the seat in the valve seat disk 18, the oxygen flows into the corresponding bores and channels of the mixing disk 19, mixes there with the acetylene flowing in from the line 3 and enters through the mixing disk 19 the explosion chamber 7, where the mixture is ignited.
The explosion gases are expelled through the ring channel 7d of the nozzle at enormous speed, and as a result of the suction swirl that occurs, only a small amount of gas remains in the explosion chamber, so that a negative pressure is created in it. As a result, and under the influence of the gas pressure, the valve bodies 23 and 24 are raised again, and the game described is repeated. After a few explosions, the pistol has reached the temperature required for operation. The metal wire tll is now guided through the nipple 45 into the housing 31 and passes through the guide shaft 15, at the end opening of which it melts.
The molten metal is torn off under the influence of the explosion shock in the finest droplets by the molten metal wire, which fills the bore as liquid metal, and thrown out of the nozzle in a tightly closed cone, and this with a high pressure corresponding to the high explosion pressure Speed, so that the molten metal droplets, which are hurled in the hot gas jet onto the base to be drawn over, deform on this in such a way that they bond intimately with each other and with the base to form a tight, firmly adhering coating.
Since the guide shaft 15 assumes such a high temperature during continuous operation that self-ignition of the mixture occurs through this shaft, the ignition can be switched off by means of the candle during continuous operation. Each explosion shock actuates the feed gear through the line 29 by means of the piston 26 and thereby causes the advance of the Me talldrahtes 31. To be able to regulate the advance according to the metal consumption, the stroke of the piston 26 is applied to the piston rod by means of the two 28 (.Fig. 7) screwed regulating nuts 46 set.
Of course, in this way, according to the method according to the invention, not only coatings, but also fillings of voids and weld seams as well as independent metal bodies can be produced, in which case the metal is injected into a corresponding hollow mold and the metal body is removed after the injection molding becomes.
As a result of the excellent properties of the coatings obtained the th. Ver drive can be used wherever you have previously failed due to the inadequacy of the coatings obtained by the previous spraying process, so z. B. for the generation of really corrosion-resistant coatings also made of aluminum and lead, etc. Thanks to the firm adhesion and the high cohesion of the coatings, the process can also be used advantageously for coating documents with whose material the coating is not as intimate as with Can connect metal, so z. B. wood, Eter nit, glass, synthetic resins, etc.
This means that this spray metallization process can be used to a greater extent. B. Capacitors can be produced by spraying the coating directly onto the dielectric.
Instead of cooling fins, the explosion chamber could also be provided with a cooling water jacket.
In order to cover larger areas, several such devices could of course also be arranged on a carrier that is moved in one direction and the base could be moved in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the carrier. In this case, several nozzles with an upstream gearbox and guide shaft could be installed in a single explosion chamber or fed from a single explosion chamber.
Instead of a water cooling jacket, the metal to be sprayed could also be fed into a jacket placed around the explosion chamber and melted there, where the waste heat would also be fully utilized, especially in larger devices.
