Pre-chamber injection internal combustion engine with a laterally arranged pre-chamber
The invention relates to a prechamber injection internal combustion engine in which the
Air during the compression stroke from the working cylinder through one or more
Boreholes arranged at the bottom of the antechamber .ein flows into and out of the antechamber
which after injection and partial combustion of the fuel is a mixture of combustion gases,
Air and unburned fuel leak into the cylinder. With side arrangement
of the chamber are usually the transfer bores in the usual cup-shaped
Insert (atomizer cup) in the middle or on the one facing the cylinder axis
Side arranged so that the fuel jets flat in the main combustion chamber
step out. The direction of the holes is determined by the fact that when blowing off
the antechamber aas the gas jets exiting the bores the space above the piston
should capture as well as possible. Towards the end of the compression stroke with high (zoo
up to 3oom / s) air entering the chamber therefore flows with the usual arrangements
the @ also, towards the end of the compression stroke, emanating from the injection nozzle
Fuel jet counteracts, whereby its early fragmentation promoted and be
Penetration to the chamber floor, is made more difficult. If there are still fuel parts up to
have reached the antechamber floor, they are dislodged at high speed
Blowing air over the point of impact and into the air removed from the chamber floor
Parts of the antechamber worn. It has now been shown that, ß, the combustion in the
Pre-chamber mo, tocr is the more unfavorable, the more the air already has the fuel
divided and atomized in the antechamber. With good atomization in the chamber takes
too large a proportion of the injected fuel is already in the prechamber
the combustion part that
necessarily because of the prevailing there
Lack of air can only be imperfect. As also in the known arrangements
the fuel is not concentrated near the bottom of the antechamber
he entered the cylinder too late when blowing off the chamber. The result is more sooty
Exhaust, high exhaust temperature and high fuel consumption.
It is known to be in the antechamber or in the atomizer tray centrally
arranged antechambers to arrange special operations in addition to their main task
the heating of the air flowing into the antechamber may also cause
that the fuel jet is not blown directly. Have such stakes
but the disadvantage that both during the inflow into the antechamber as well as when
Outflow process an additional throttling occurs, which leads to losses in the conversion
are conditioned by heat in work. Such air jet guide inserts can also be used
Very difficult to use with lateral antechambers.
niedrigere Auspufftemperatur. .In order to avoid these disadvantages, the bottom opening is according to the invention
arranged so that they are on the side of the floor remote from the cylinder axis
opens into the antechamber, so that the compression air flowing in through the bottom opening
flows laterally past the fuel jet and not over the point of impact of the
The fuel jet on the prechamber floor. The fuel jet is thereby.
only dissolved in its outer layers on one side, while the core of the
The jet penetrates to the bottom of the chamber, from where the not yet burned fuel particles
after ignition in the antechamber through the chamber bores into the main combustion chamber
be blown out. Expediently, you can also find the point of impact of the
Fuel jet on the prechamber bottom from the prechamber axis in the direction of the cylinder axis
move. This moves the fuel and air jet axes even further apart.
The consequences of this appropriate fuel distribution in the antechamber and the main combustion chamber
according to the invention, better fuel consumption and exhaust and are essential
lower exhaust temperature. .
In the drawing, several antechambers are shown in axial section,
namely Fig. i show a lateral antechamber in the usual training
and Fig. 2 shows an embodiment of an antechamber according to the invention.
7 verbinden. In the figures, i denotes the piston, 2 denotes the cylinder head, and
3 the antechamber. with .l the injection nozzle and with 5 the atomizer insert,
which contains the bottom openings 6, which the antechamber 3 with the main combustion chamber
7 connect.
In Fig. I it is shown how the from the main combustion chamber 7 through the
Opening 6 flowing compressed air directed directly against the fuel jet
and prevents it from reaching the bottom of the atomizer insert 5,
or blows the fuel back from the prechamber floor into the rear parts of the prechamber.
Instead of the one opening 6, several of these can of course be provided.
In Fig.2, the bottom openings 6 open into the cylinder axis
remote side of the antechamber floor, which means that the fuel jet is not immediate
is blown. To support this effect, the point of impact can also
S of the fuel jet on the prechamber floor from the center against the cylinder axis
to be postponed. The air jet now passes the fuel jet to the side
and dissolves this at the edge only so far as to cause inflammation and increase in pressure
is required. Due to the rapidly increasing pressure inside the antechamber
then the not yet burned fuel is blown into the working cylinder,
where it burns completely.
