Anlasseinriclitung an Brennkraftmaschinen.
Infolge der Reibung zwischen diesen Scheiben kann dann ein bestimmtes Dreh moment vom Kupplungsgehäuse 6, das ja mit den Scheiben 46 durch die Nuten 45 und Vorsprünge 47 drehfest verbunden ist, auf den durch die Nuten 44 und Vorsprünge 50 mit den Scheiben 49 verbundenen Rin;
Die Innenseite der Hülse 54 bil det eine Führung für den Schaft 57 des Ritzels 58, der mit diesem selbst aus einem Stück besteht und als Keilwelle mit in ent sprechende Nuten der Innenwand dieser Hülse einreifenden, zur Achse des Schaftes parallelen Vorsprüngen 59 ausgeführt ist;
die sich durch eine Längsbohrung des Ritzels 58 und seines Scli < xftes 57 erstreckt. Auf das freie Ende dieser Spindel ist eine Anschlagmutter 61 ge schraubt und mit einem Stift 62 gesichert, und zw:=clien dem Boden 63 des Ritzel- trä gern :55 und der Stirnfläche 64 des R.itzel- sehaftes 57 befindet sich eine verhältnis mässig schwache Druckfeder 65, die das Ritzel gegen die Anschlagmutter 61 zii drüel;
Starting device on internal combustion engines. The present invention relates to a starting device on internal combustion engines with a starter motor and a pinion to be driven by this, which is non-rotatably coupled to an axially displaceable pinion carrier,
but with respect to this is axially displaceable and can be brought into engagement ge by displacement in the axial direction with a ring gear of the internal combustion engine.
In such starting devices, the teeth of the pinion run in its axial displacement only easily into the tooth gaps of the ring gear when the pinion assumes certain rotational positions when reaching the ring gear. If this is not the case, the pinion must be rotated in order to be able to come into engagement with the ring gear.
For this purpose, in known devices, the starter motor is set in motion forwards or backwards with full or reduced torque, the pinion being pressed axially against the ring gear by a spring and, as soon as it assumes a suitable rotational position, is pushed into engagement . becomes. The pinion is only in such positions for a short time, so that it takes a fairly strong spring to engage it in good time.
The high axial pressure of the pinion against the ring gear, however, often results in undesirable wear from the end faces of these parts.
The invention should make it possible to wreath the pinion without starting the starter motor in engagement with the tooth. to be able to bring. Furthermore, the axial displacement of the pinion should only be able to take place if there is little or no resistance to be overcome for this shift, while in the case of greater resistance, the attempt to bring the pinion into engagement should initially remain unsuccessful.
The pinion should then, if this attempt is abandoned, automatically come into a rotational position that is different from that before the attempt mentioned; this is intended for the following. Attempt the possibility of success can be established.
According to the invention, the pinion carrier, which moves together with the pinion when the starting process is initiated, when the pinion hits the ring gear of the internal combustion engine, cannot reach the start-up position of the starting circuit, but only up to a stop on the rear pinion move axially, whereby during the following,
under the action of a return spring, the backward movement of the pinion carrier takes place this is rotated by a coupling member seen in its drive connection with the rotor of the starter motor in such a way that the co-rotating pinion is in a suitable rotational position by a pinion supporting the pinion against the pinion carrier in the meshing direction the spring acting on the pinion can be engaged in the ring gear or, if this engagement does not take place,
is brought into a different from the rotational position in the original starting position, new starting rotational position. The coupling element provided in the drive connection between the pinion carrier and the rotor of the starter motor can be connected to the rotor via an overrunning clutch that enables this coupling element to lead in the working direction of rotation and to the pinion carrier by a steep thread through which the Coupling member is rotated with respect to the tickle carrier in the working direction of rotation,
if this is shifted axially with respect to the coupling link in the sense of engaging the tickle. It is advantageous if the displacement path of the tickle, which is pressed under the action of a support spring against an existing stop on the tickle carrier, is also limited in the direction of disengagement by a stop with respect to this tickle carrier.
The device can contain a sliding member for axial displacement of the pinion carrier, which forces acting on the pinion carrier only in the sense of engagement and which can only be transmitted over that part of the path of the pinion carrier that it has to cover from its rest position to one position, in which the pinion engages with part of its tooth length in the ring gear. The device can be designed so that the switch-on device of the starter motor is actuated by the sliding member.
In the drawing, an execution example of the invention is shown.
FIG. 1 is a longitudinal section through a starting device along the line 1-I of FIG. 2.
FIG. 2 is a cross section taken along the line 11-II in FIG. 1 through the same starting device.
Add. 3 to 7 show essential parts of the device according to FIGS. 1 and 2 in different operating positions.
The housing of the starter is made. of three main parts, namely the end shield 1, the field support 2 and the switch housing 3, which are firmly connected to one another by longitudinal bolts or screws, not shown. The rotor of the starter motor has a hollow shaft 4 which is rotatably mounted at one end on a pin-shaped projection 5 of the switch housing 3 and at the other end expands to the coupling housing G and is connected to the cover 7 of this housing, which is mounted in the end shield 1, by screws 79 .
The rotor shaft 4 carries the laminated armature core 8 with the armature winding 9 and the collector 10. On the latter grind in brush holders 11 and 12 guided carbon brushes 13 and 14; the brush holder sit on the wall 15 of the switch housing 3, which separates the starter motor from the switch to be written below. The brush holder 11 and the brush 13 are isolated from the switch housing 3, while the brush holder 12 and the brush 14 can be grounded via the housing 3. In the field carrier 2 16 iron pole pieces 17 are attached by means of screws, and a coil 18 of the field winding is wound on each of them.
An electromagnetic coil 19 is accommodated in the switch housing 3; an iron core 20 is guided in it so as to be longitudinally displaceable. It carries a plate 21 on which a flat spring 22 is attached by means of rivets 23; The spring 22 is isolated from the plate 21 by a non-conductive intermediate layer 77 and from the rivets 23 by insulating sleeves and washers 78. At their ends there are contact blocks 24 and 25, which are fastened with be in the housing 3, but against this isolated Kon contact pieces 26 and 27 cooperate.
The contact piece 26 is also insulated from the housing 3 by a. Terminal bolt 28 and a cable 29 connected to the positive terminal of a power source. On the other hand, a tab 30 is riveted to the contact piece 27, which mediates the current transition to the starter motor through an opening in the housing wall 15.
This is connected as a direct current series motor. When the electromagnetic coil 19 is energized and its tensile force acting on the core 20 pushes the contact block 24 on the contact piece 26 and the contact block 25 on the contact piece 27, the current flows from the positive terminal of the power source via the cable 29, the Terminal bolt 28, the contact pair 26/24, the spring 22 and the contact pair 25/27 after the connecting plate 3-0. From this, the current goes via a line 3'1 to one end of the field winding, the individual coils 18 of which are connected to one another by a line indicated at 32.
The other end of the field winding is connected by a line 33 to the insulated brush 13, which supplies the current to the armature winding 9 via the collector 10. The brush 14, which takes the current on the opposite side of the collector, is grounded; In this case, the 3-pin terminal of the power source must also be earthed so that the earth can serve as a return line for the current. The brush 14 could also be connected to the negative terminal of the power source via a special return line.
In the hollow rotor shaft 4 and in the likewise hollow bearing pin 34 of the hitch housing cover 7, two bushings 37 and 38 are rotatably mounted behind one another with little longitudinal play between a shoulder 35 of the shaft bore and the inner end face 36 of the end shield which closes the bearing of the pin 34 so that they can only be moved longitudinally between narrow limits. The front sleeve 37, that is to say abutting the bearing plate 1, is provided with a steep, four-thread flat thread on the inside over its entire length, and on the outside it is smoothly cylindrical.
Between the bottom 39 of the coupling housing 6 and its cover 7, a ring 40 is mounted on the sleeve 37, freely rotatable per se. In its inner running surface, this ring has several grooves 41 parallel to the axis (see FIG. 2), each of which increases in depth in the direction of the working direction of rotation of the starter motor.
In the present example it is assumed that this working direction of rotation, as indicated by the arrow 42 in FIG. 2, corresponds to the direction of rotation of the clockwise when the starter motor in FIG. 1 is viewed from the right. A steel roller 43 is located in each of the grooves 41.
If the ring 40 is now mentioned in relation to the sleeve 3 @ 7 in it. Rotated working direction of rotation 42, the rollers 43 roll in the less deep part of the grooves 41; they wedge themselves there between the running surface of the sleeve 37 and the bottom of the groove and, because of their friction, transfer to this. Surface torques from the ring 40 to the sleeve 37. On the other hand, if the sleeve 37 rushes ahead of the ring 40 in the working direction of rotation 42, the rollers 43 are rolled into the deeper part of the grooves 41 in which they lie without the contact surface of the sleeve 37 and exert pressure on the groove bottom.
They also do not transmit any torque between these surfaces, and the bushing 37 can move freely over the ring 40 in the direction of rotation 42.
In the outer surface of the ring 40 and in the inner surface of the jacket wall of the coupling housing 6 are grooves 44 parallel to the axis respectively. 45 of rectangular cross-section. Several sets of annular friction disks are located in the clutch housing between the surfaces mentioned.
Each of these sets is followed by a steel washer 46 which has protrusions 47 engaging in grooves 45 of the housing on its periphery. a disc 48 made of pulp covering material (so-called Ferodo), designed without projections, then a steel disc 49, which has projections 50 engaging the grooves 44 of the ring 40 on its inner edge, and another Ferodo disc 48.
On this lies the first steel disk 46 of the following set and so on. Towards the cover 7 of the clutch housing 6, these friction disk sets are followed by a thicker ring disk 51 with a triangular cross-section, which is thickest at its inner edge, and finally two conical ones lying on top of one another Pressure disks 52 are present, which are supported with their inner edges on the inner edge of the annular disk 51 and with the outer edges on a shoulder 5 3 of the housing cover.
These Driiek- seheiben are designed so that they with the assembly of the cover 7 with. the hitch housing 6 are deformed and the friction disks 46, 48 and 49 press against each other with a certain force via the annular disk 51.
As a result of the friction between these discs, a certain torque from the clutch housing 6, which is rotatably connected to the discs 46 by the grooves 45 and projections 47, on the Rin connected by the grooves 44 and projections 50 to the discs 49;
40 are transferred. If the torque to be transmitted is greater, the friction disks 46, 48 and 49 begin to slide on each other so that the torque with which the starter motor drives the bush 37 does not exceed a certain amount.
In the bushes 37 and 38 there is a sleeve 54 which forms part of the pinion carrier designated as a whole by the reference number 55. The sleeve 54 is. Provided on the outside over a part of its length with a steep screw thread 56 engaging in the nut thread of the bush 37.
The sense of the screwing of this thread is chosen so that the pinion 37 is rotated with respect to the pinion carrier 55 in the working direction of rotation 42 (FIG. 21) when the pinion carrier is shifted to the right in FIG. 1 of the drawing.
The inside of the sleeve 54 bil det a guide for the shaft 57 of the pinion 58, which consists of one piece with this itself and is designed as a splined shaft with engaging in ent speaking grooves of the inner wall of this sleeve, parallel to the axis of the shaft projections 59;
The pinion 58 is thereby non-rotatably coupled to your pinion carrier 55, that is to say that it is not rotatably coupled. but in relation to ilin achsia, l can be moved. The pinion carrier 55 is provided with a spindle 60,
which extends through a longitudinal bore of the pinion 58 and its pin 57. A stop nut 61 is screwed onto the free end of this spindle and secured with a pin 62, and between the bottom 63 of the pinion carrier: 55 and the face 64 of the pinion shaft 5 </ B> 7 there is a relatively weak compression spring 65 which pushes the pinion against the stop nut 61 zii;
en is looking for. With the force of the spring 65 removed, the path of the pinion is limited by a shoulder 66 on the spindle 60.
The pinion carrier 55 is also provided with a shaft 67. A compression spring 69 engages on a spring plate 6 attached to this shaft, the other end of which is mounted on the bottom 70 of the sleeve 38 and seeks to pull the pinion carrier 55 downward, that is to say to the left in FIG.
The inward movement of the pinion carrier is limited by the impact of the bottom 63 of the pinion carrier on the front side, and its outward movement by the impact of the spring plate 68 on the rear side of the base 70 of the sleeve 38.
The iron core 20 of the switch forms the sliding element used to actuate: the engagement mechanism of the starter pinion. It is provided with a pin 71 which is guided through an axial bore in the peg-shaped projection 5 in the switch housing 3. The end face 72 of this pin is located in the path of the end face 73 of the pinion carrier shaft 67.
The length of the pin 71 is chosen so that the switch cannot be closed before the pinion carrier has reached a certain position when it is shifted outward. Due to the interaction of the surfaces 72 and 73, only forces can be transmitted from the iron core 20 to the pinion carrier which seek to push it outwards.
In addition, the path of the iron core 20 is limited by the surface 74 of the switch housing in such a way that he. Pinion carrier cannot move to the end of its outward path, but only up to a certain position.
With the reference numeral 75, the flywheel of the internal combustion engine is designated, which is to be rotated by the starting device described. This flywheel has a ring gear 76, the pitch and shape of which correspond to those of the pinion 58. In the rest position, the pinion is in the position shown in Fig. 1 ment.
It then requires a .achsiale outward displacement of the pinion carrier with the pinion in order to engage it, that is, to bring the sen teeth into engagement with those of the ring gear.
The axial displacement of the pinion is not sufficient for this among all. Circumstances, since in many cases the faces of the teeth of the pinion will meet the faces of the teeth of the ring gear and a move only takes place when the teeth of the pinion can run into gaps between the teeth of the ring gear. There are therefore two typical main cases for the mode of operation of the facility:
depending on whether a single outward displacement of the pinion carrier is sufficient to engage the pinion or whether it has to be turned beforehand.
Assuming certain ratios, the engagement of the pinion in these two cases will proceed in the manner described below.
In reality, conditions other than those assumed may prevail at various points in the facility and lead to one. cause other processes to run. As a rule, the engagement of the pinion will be facilitated by these different ratios compared to the less favorable of the two cases considered below.
To set the internal combustion engine by means of the starting device in motion, the solenoid coil 19 is energized ge, z. B. by a switch is closed in their circuit not specified in the drawing. Then this coil attracts the iron core 20; its pin 71 then displaces the pinion carrier 55 in the direction of engagement of the pinion 58, the spring 69 being compressed.
The pinion 58th itself is, since it is pressed by the spring 65 against the stop nut 61 and initially met no resistance, also displaced in the direction of engagement.
It is now assumed that the pinion carrier 55 and the pinion due to their inertia or for other reasons do not initially rotate about their axis. Then the sleeve 37 is rotated through the coarse thread 56 of the pinion carrier in the working sense; During this rotation, the armature shaft 4 remains at rest with the armature 8, because the overrunning clutch formed by the rollers 43 in the grooves 47 enables the bush 37 to advance the ring 40 in the working direction of rotation.
In this way, the parts first come into the position shown in FIG. 3, in which the end face of the tickle 58 has reached that of the ring gear 76.
If, contrary to the assumption made, the tickle carrier 55 with the tickle 58 can be set in rotation by a small moment and, on the other hand, the bush 37 is prevented from rotating, for example by the friction in the overhaul clutch, pinion carriers and rotate Tickle when shifting against the working direction and assume a slightly different rotational position in the axial position in which they are shown in FIG. 3.
The further course of the engagement process depends on whether, in the tickle position reached, each tooth of the tickle 58 faces a tooth gap in the ring gear 76, so that the tickle can be brought into engagement with the ring gear immediately by axial displacement, or whether the Front surface of a tooth or several teeth of the tickle on the front surface of a tooth bez-, j #. meets several teeth of the ring gear.
If each tooth of the tickle 58 meets a tooth gap of the ring gear 76 , the tickle carrier 55 and the tickle 58 continue to be axially displaced by the core 20 attracted by the coil 19. By engaging the teeth of the tickle 58 in the still stationary ring gear 76, the tickle 58 and its carrier 55 are inevitably prevented from rotating, so that the steep thread 56 of the tickle carrier forces the bushing 37 to rotate in the working direction 42. The overlapping coupling formed by the rollers 43 enables the sleeve 37 to rotate without the armature of the starting motor moving.
When the electromagnetic core 20 meets the surface 74 limiting its stroke, the parts of the starting device are in the position shown in FIG. Immediately before this is reached, the contact blocks 24 and 25 meet the fixed contacts 26 and 27 and on the last part of the way that the core 20 covers, the spring 22 is bent under He increase the contact pressure.
This completes the circuit of the starter motor and its armature begins to rotate in the direction of arrow 42. Via the shaft 4 and the slip clutch 46-52 it takes the ring 40 with it, which now seeks to advance the sleeve 37 in the working direction of rotation. The rollers 43 migrate into the less deep part of the grooves 41 and couple the ring 40 with the bush 37. This is also carried along by the armature of the starter motor.
The tickle 58 and its carrier 55 who still prevented from rotating by the stationary ring gear 76; When the bush 37 is rotated, as a result, they are still screwed forward in the sense of engaging the tickle. The end face 73 of the shaft 67 of the tickle carrier stands out from the end face 72 of the pin 71 connected to the electromagnet core 20. Finally, the spring plate 68 connected to your Ritzelträ.ger 55 hits the bottom 70 of the sleeve 38; the parts are then in the position according to FIG. 5.
The tickle carrier can then no longer move further in the axial direction.
As a result, the sleeve 37 transmits the torque that it receives on the slip clutch 46-52 from the armature 8 of the starter motor, as such at the thread 56 on the tickle carrier 55, and this is there to the tickle 58 on. At the ring gear 76 of the flywheel 75 of the internal combustion engine, the torque acting on the tickle 58 generates a circumferential force which sets the shaft of the internal combustion engine in rotation and thereby the machine itself.
After the machine has started to run on its own, it can bring the tickle 58 to a speed that is higher than that of the armature shaft 4. This is possible, please include without affecting this shaft, on the one hand because the overrunning clutch formed by the rollers 43 it allows the sleeve 37 to revolve with the anchor speed. To overtake ring 40 in the working sense, and on the other hand, because the pinion carrier 55 can overtake the sleeve 37 by a ge know angle, where it moves axially in the direction of disengagement of the pinion 58.
This axial displacement of the pinion carrier 55, which must also participate in the pinion 58, takes place under the pressure of the spring 69; it is, however, be limited by the end face 72 of the pin 71. The latter is initially in the position according to FIGS. 4 and 5. As soon as the operator determines that the internal combustion engine is working correctly, he has to switch off the current flowing through the solenoid 19.
The pinion carrier 55 is then withdrawn from the spring 69 to the position shown in FIG. 1 and pushes the solenoid core 20 with the pin 71 in front of it also back into the starting position. The switch contacts 24/26 and 25/27 are separated, whereby the circuit of the starter motor is interrupted and it is brought to a standstill. The pinion carrier 55 and the pinion 58 then also stop rotating as soon as the latter is completely disengaged from the ring gear 76.
If, in the position of the parts shown in FIG. 3, a tooth of the pinion 58 meets a tooth of the ring gear 76 in such a way that the pinion can no longer be displaced in the direction of engagement, the further displacement of the electromagnet core 20 and of the pinion carrier 55, the spring 65 lying between this and the pinion shaft 57 is compressed together.
When the friction between pinion 58 and ring gear 76 prevents the pinion and thus the pinion carrier 55 from rotating, the sleeve 37 rotates in the working direction of rotation; the rollers 43 namely remain in the deeper part of the grooves 41, so that this rotation can take place when the shaft 4 is stationary. The parts then reach the position shown in FIG. 6, in which the shoulder 6ss of the spindle 60 rests against the end face 64 of the pinion shaft 57.
A further displacement of the pinion carrier 55 and consequently also of the electromagnetic core 20 in the direction in which the pinion engages is then no longer possible.
The contact blocks 24 and 25 can bezw their fixed mating contacts 26. 27 so that the starter motor circuit cannot be closed. This prevents the pinion 58 from being set in rotation by the starter motor when it is not engaged with the ring gear 76.
If the operator determines that the starter motor is not starting to work, he switches off the current of the electromagnetic coil 19. The spring 69 then seeks to move the pinion carrier 55 in the direction opposite to the engagement of the pinion. Since the sleeve 37 cannot rotate against the direction of working rotation 42 because of the action of the overhaul clutch between her and the ring 40 when the armature shaft 4 is stationary, the pinion carrier 55 with the pinion 58 must rotate in the working direction during this shift.
During this rotation, the friction must be between. the pinion 58 and the ring gear 76 by the spring 6 9 overcome. will. This friction is small because of the ge wrestling force with which the spring 65 presses the pinion axially against the ring gear 76; it can therefore neither prevent the back gear of the pinion carrier 55, nor have a significant wear of the pinion 58 and ring gear 76 result.
It can happen that the teeth of the pinion come before the tooth gaps of the ring gear 76 during this rotation. In this case, the spring 65 can move the pinion 58 in the direction of engagement, so that its teeth come into engagement with those of the ring gear 76 over a small part of their length. Since the pinion can no longer rotate in this case, the retraction of the pinion carrier is interrupted.
By switching on the electromagnetic coil 19 again, the pinion can then be brought into the position according to FIG. 4 and the internal combustion engine can be started without any further information.
However, if the rotation of the pinion 58 caused by the pinion carrier is not running into the gaps between the teeth of the ring gear 76, the pinion 58 is finally lifted off the ring gear 76 by the stop nut 61 of the pinion carrier.
The pinion carrier and pinion then move further in the direction of disengagement by turning further in the working direction 42 and finally reach the position shown in FIG. 7, in which the bottom 63 of the tickle carrier is on the ground. 70 of the sleeve 38 is pending.
In Fig. 7 the pinion carrier 55 and the tickle 58 have a different rotational position than in Fig. 1 with a pale axial position, because the pinion carrier did not have to rotate during its axial displacement in the direction of the engagement of the tickle with the opposite axial shift.
With the starting position after Fi ;. 7, the attempt to engage the tickle is repeated by switching on the electromagnetic coil 19 again.
As a result of the new rotational position of the pinion carrier and the tickle, this new attempt can have a more favorable result than that with the starting position according to FIG. 1 he carried out unsuccessful attempt. Otherwise you will see a different rotational position of the tinsel as the starting position for the third attempt and so on.
Choose the pitch of the thread 56 i: t so zii, so that the angle by which the tickle turns with each unsuccessful attempt at tickling is different from the tooth pitch angle of the tickle or from the whole multiple of this pitch angle:
-, vii-c1 takes this into account during construction, experience has shown that only very few attempts at actuation are necessary in each case. until the tickle lets you see into the ring gear.
