Description

Electric incandescent lamp with gas filling and a substance that evaporates during the heating of the luminous element and a vacuum jacket surrounding the luminous element container. There are electric incandescent lamps with gas filling known in which within the glass envelope surrounding the luminous element a substance that evaporates during the heating of the luminous element, eg. B.

Mercury is ordered, through the evaporation of which an overpressure is generated within the envelope surrounding the luminous element. At the same time, however, it is necessary to prevent the glass envelope from cooling down, because otherwise the pressure will drop again, the lamp will immediately blacken and its service life will also be reduced. It is known to provide the glass envelope with a Va kuummantel for this purpose. However, this only fulfills its purpose if the high vacuum can be maintained throughout the life of the lamp.

According to the present invention, such a lamp is designed in such a way that a glow discharge path is connected in parallel to the lead wires to the filament in the vacuum jacket.

If the pressure in the vacuum jacket rises during operation of the incandescent lamp due to the release of gases, the glow discharge line comes into action and consumes the harmful gases causing the pressure, so that the vacuum is automatically restored.

Surprisingly, it has been shown that the use of such a glow discharge path in an electric incandescent lamp with a gas filling and a substance which can be vaporized when the luminous element is heated causes a 20% increase. H. up to 25% H. higher luminous efficiency compared to incandescent lamps without a protective jacket is achieved.

An embodiment of the subject invention is shown in the drawing in a cross section. This is an 'overpressure light bulb,

in wel cher the filament 1 within the surrounded by a vacuum jacket 11 glass envelope 2 on a continuous support wire 3 with holders 4 and in the glass envelope 2 a drop of mercury 5 is provided. In parallel with the lead wires 6 and 7 of the filament 1, a glow discharge path 10 is connected between the glass shell 2 and the base part 9 via a resistor $. During the heating of the filament 1, the mercury 5 evaporates and generates an overpressure in the casing 2. If the pressure in the vacuum jacket 11 rises as a result of the release of gases, the glow discharge path 10 comes into action, the original vacuum in the jacket 11 being automatically re-established through absorption of the gases.
