Elastic tire for vehicle wheel. The present invention relates to an elastic tire for a vehicle wheel, which bandage can advantageously be mounted on a bicycle wheel.
This tire is characterized in that it comprises at least one strip made of a solid material, in which slits are provided so as to form flexible strips between them, arranged in planes parallel to the axis of the wheel. , the plane of each tongue being inclined relative to a geometric radius passing through the center of the wheel and passing through this tongue, said tongues imparting elasticity to at least part of said strip.
The solid material of the bandage is preferably agglomerated cork, which has the advantage of making this bandage light.
It is also possible to provide a protective coating on the solid material of the tire. This coating may consist of a used tire casing which, for example, could no longer be used with an inner tube without risk of bursting. In the preferred embodiment of the elastic bandage according to the invention,
the elastic part may be formed by two concentric bands, the tongues of the inner band extending to the outer perimeter thereof and those of the outer band extending to the inner perimeter of the latter.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the bandage which is the subject of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view of a part of a bicycle wheel, on which this tire is mounted, and FIG. 2 is a section, on a larger scale, by a radial plane.
The tire is mounted on the rim 1 of a bicycle wheel having spokes 2. This tire comprises a support 3, placed in the rim 1 and on which is mounted an internal band 4, to which is glued an intermediate layer 5 , an outer strip 6 being bonded to this layer 5. All these parts are concentric and may be of agglomerated cork.
The concentric bands 4 and 6 have flexible tongues 4 'resp. 6 'giving. to the bandage its elasticity.
These tongues are separated from each other by slots 7 and are arranged in planes parallel to the axis of the wheel, the plane of each tongue being inclined with respect to a geometric radius passing through the center of the wheel. and through this tab. The tabs 4 'of the strip 4 extend to the outer periphery.
laughing thereof, and the tabs 6 'of the strip 6 extend to. inner periphery thereof, each tongue of a strip forming an angle with the adjacent tongue of the other strip.
The bands 4 and 6 are covered by a protective coating 8, which consists, for example, of a used tire casing. The purpose of this casing is to protect the cork against wear and to prevent dust, mud or other matter from entering the slots 7.
To obtain good elasticity of the banding, it is necessary that the slots 7 separating the tongues 4 'respectively 6', are sufficiently wide to allow these tongues to move under the effect of a radial pressure due, for example, the irregularities of the ground with which the bandage is in contact,
when the bicycle is rolling. Each tongue has, moreover, a thickness such that after having moved under the effect of said pressure, it returns to its initial position thanks to the elasticity of the material of which it is made.
One could provide a single cork strip fixed. On the support 3, the tongues of this strip can be indifferently provided on its outer periphery as is the case for the strip 4, shown in FIG. 1, or on its inner perimeter, that is to say on the side of the support 3.
In the embodiment described, the intermediate layer 5 could be omitted, the bands 3 and 4 would then be attached directly to each other.
In addition, the layer 4 could be fixed directly to the rim 1, in the case of a wooden rim for example. We could also remove the support 3 and shape the layer 4 so that it can be
fitted on a metal rim, parts 3 and 4 forming a single piece.
