Stahltonmaschine.
Steel tone machine. In the case of steel sound recordings, the acoustic process is recorded on a steel tape or steel wire moving past at a certain speed. This recording is done electromagnetic table and can be played back later by reversing the recording process. The steel sound machines provided for this purpose have, in addition to recording and playback, a device that allows the recorded sound to be deleted and thus frees the sound carrier for further recording.
The need now often arises to keep some of the records while the greater part of the records has no value for later. In this case it would be an unacceptable waste to keep the entire sound carrier wound on a reel. The only way out is that the part of the sound carrier that is of interest is transferred to a second machine. In addition to the acquisition costs, the provision of a second machine also involves the inconvenience of connecting it.
To avoid these disadvantages, a steel sound machine is designed according to the invention in such a way that it has two sets of coils and that any part of a sound recording on the sound carrier of one set of coils can be played back on the sound carrier of the other set of coils.
An exemplary embodiment of the Stahltonmasehine according to the invention is shown in FIG. 1 of the accompanying drawings. A means a first recording and reproducing device, 13 the second recording and reproducing device for playing around, C a common amplifier, D the recording organ (microphone) and E the reproducing organ (loudspeaker) of the steel sound machine. Inside the device A is the sound carrier 1, its coil set 2, the recording head 3 and the playback head 4.
In device B, the coil set 6, the sound carrier 5, the receiving head 7 and the playback head 8 are built in the same way. At the amplifier input is the switch 9 with the contacts a, b, e, at the amplifier output the switch 10 with the contacts d, e, f. From Fig.? can be seen which contacts are closed respectively. which lines are connected through in the individual switch positions.
AA means recording on your set of bobbins A, WA playing from bobbin set A, UB transferring to bobbin set B and WB playing from bobbin set B. .
The one behind this information in Fig. a small letter used means that the corresponding switches are closed in this position. With the specified circuits, the possible uses of the steel tone machine are not yet exhausted. For example, the coil set B can also be used for direct recording purposes, if a loose recording is necessary.
Both the amplifier C and the drive motor, not shown, are common to both coil sets. The machine can therefore easily be made by adding only one set of coils to a Stalilton- ni machine, which results in considerable savings compared to the purchase of a second machine. The switches 9 and 10 shown in Fig. 1 can be combined so that only one switch needs to be operated for switching.
A double-pole switch is then seen, which results in the switch positions of FIG. 2 one after the other. This can be, for example, a roller switch that has six contact springs a to f and closes them in the four switch positions AA, WA, UB, 1VB in the order shown in FIG.
This enables switching with a minimum of time and effort; because the switch simultaneously establishes two connections required for importing.
