Description

Aqueous dispersion. The present patent relates to an aqueous dispersion which contains polymeric compounds and carbamide aldehyde condensation products. For example, urea-formaldehyde condensation products or thiourea-formaldehyde condensation products can be used. The aqueous dispersion can also contain pigments.
Aqueous dispersions according to the invention are stable and particularly suitable for the production of adhesive coatings on any type of substrate. They can also be used with advantage to fix pigments, d. H. that is, for the production of pigment dyes or prints, are used. The coatings obtained have high adhesive strength and resistance to the usual treatment processes.
As polymeric compounds are mentioned for example: Polyvinyl compounds, namely polyvinyl esters, such as polyvinyl acetate, -prapionate, -butyrate, -stearate, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl ethers, such as polyvinyl methyl ether, ethyl ether, butyl ether, octodecyl ether,
or copolymers of vinyl esters and / or vinyl ethers; also polymers from acrylic acid esters, such as acrylic acid methyl ester, ethyl ester, butyl ester, from methacrylic acid esters, acrylic acid nitrile, crotonic acid esters, styrene, also copolymers from such compounds,
for example mixed polymers of maleic acid, crotonic acid, acrylic acid or their derivatives with other olefinic compounds. The aqueous disperse ions of such polymeric compounds can optionally contain additions of organic solvents and of dispersion-promoting substances.
The aldehyde condensation products can be used in the form of the water-soluble precondensation products. But you can also use condensation products that are not in water. are more soluble, and use them in the form of solutions in organic solvents or in the form of dispersions, if necessary under Mil: - use of organic solvents.
It is also possible to use aldehyde condensation products which are produced in the presence of alcohols such as ethyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, isobutyl alcohol, Cxlycol, benzyl alcohol.
The aldehyde condensation products can be incorporated in the dispersions of the polymeric compounds in various ways. Either the condensation products are stirred into the dispersions of the polymeric compounds as solutions or dispersions. However, the condensation products can also be added as solutions or dispersions to the dispersions of the monomeric compounds from which the polymeric bodies mentioned at the outset are produced and then polymerized.
Finally, soluble precondensation products or the components such as urea and formaldehyde together with suitable condensation accelerators such as organic or inorganic acids or acidic acid splitting agents, for example ammonium formate or weakly basic products, for example ammonia, can be added . The addition of plasticizers can result in a further improvement.
The present mixtures are particularly suitable for producing coatings on materials with a fibrous structure, for example fibrous material. made of cotton, artificial silk, viscose wool, wool, silk, hemp, flax, jute, also on fiber materials made of cellulose leather, from polyvinyl compounds, from synthetic high-molecular linear polyamide compounds, from glass, and finally to produce overlays on paper, cardboard, straw , Leather, etc.
The dispersion containing the polymeric compounds and condensation products is applied to the material by spraying, padding or printing, optionally with the use of thickeners such as tragacanth, water-soluble cellulose ethers, for example the salts of cellulose glycolic acid , Locust bean gum and plasticizers. like I) ibutyl phthalate,
Paratoluenesulphonic acid methylamide and others. Suitable condensation accelerators, for example organic acids or acid splitting agents such as ammonium lactate, ammonium oxalate, tartaric acid diethyl ester and others, are expediently used.
Mali can also add pigments and fillers to the dispersion. Pigments or fillers are: inorganic weighting agents, such as kaolin, barium sulfate, talc, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide or colored pigments. such as soot, iron oxide, ultramarine, chromium oxide, lead chromate, calcium sulfide, insoluble azo compounds, vat dyes, phthalocyanine, color varnishes made from alkaline.
Dyes, dyes from mordants or acid dyes, etc. Examples: 1. The mixture is stirred in 600 g of an aqueous dispersion containing 50 parts of polyvinyl acetate and 2 parts of polyvinyl alcohol per 100 parts g of a 30% solution of the solid condensation product of urea-formaldehyde in butanol, emulsified in 200 g of a 1% polyvinyl alcohol solution.
\ ?. 300 g of a 50% solution are stirred in 600 g of an aqueous dispersion containing, per 100 parts, 50 parts of polyacrylic acid ester and 1% of a condensation product obtained from octadecyl alcohol by the action of ethylene oxide a solid condensation product of urea and formaldehyde in benzyl alcohol.
3. The mixture is stirred in 600 g of an aqueous dispersion which contains 50 parts of a copolymer of 70% vinyl acetate and 30% vinyl chloride per 100 parts, 200 g of a 60% solution of the solid condensation - a product made from urea, formaldehyde and ethylene glycol into ethylene glycol.
4. 300 g of vinyl acetate - are dispersed together with 200 g of a 50% solution of a urea formaldehyde condensation product in butanol in 500 g of a 2% aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol and, by heating and adding 0 , 2% formic acid and 0.02% hydrogen peroxide polymerized.
A printing paste is produced from 400 g of this dispersion, 500 g of 3% strength solution of tragacanth and 100 g of dye no.2 (Schultz, Dye Tables, VII. Edition).
