Bicyclette.
Bicycle. The object of the invention is a bicycle. It is characterized in that the branches of its lower rear fork are greatly spaced from one another, so as to form a frame on which objects to be transported can be placed, this fork bearing, at its end opposite to that of the crankset, the rear wheel, which is small in diameter compared to the front wheel.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof and FIG. 2 a plan view. Figs. 8, 4 and 5 are further elevational views showing it used with various accessories.
The embodiment shown com takes a lower rear fork formed of two metal tubes 1 and 2, widely spaced from each other, and one end of which is fixed to the hub 3 of the crankset; these tubes are bent and their rear ends joined together, so as to form an approximately rectangular frame, the longitudinal axis of which is in the plane of the frame of the bicycle and the plane of which is inclined slightly from the front to the front. back and up and down.
It also comprises an oblique fork, the two branches of which 4 and 5 are fixed by one of their ends to the upper part of the saddle-support tube 6 and by their other end on each of the two long sides of the rectangular frame, at a distance from the small one. side 7 of it. The two branches 4 and 5 are formed of metal tubes, the diameter of which decreases from the saddle tube to the rectangular frame. These branches are curved outwards symmetrically with respect to the plane of the frame of the bicycle, in such a way that they are greatly spaced from one another.
The rectangular frame has, at its rear part, a spacer 8 connecting the two long sides of the rectangle and two spacers 9 and 10, parallel to each other and to the long sides and connecting the spacer 8 with the short side 7 of the rectangular frame. Between the spacers 9 and 10 and mounted on them in a known manner, is placed the rear wheel 11 of the bicycle; this wheel 11, the diameter of which is about a third of that of the front wheel, is provided with a tire 12 of the balloon type, a multi-speed hub, a chain sprocket 13 and a guard -boue 14. The pinion 13 is driven by the wheel 15 of the pedal by means of a chain (the Galle 16 protected by a gutter 17.
On the tubes 1 and 2 is rotativ ely mounted a foot with two branches 26 arranged so as to be able to take two positions, a position of use (see fig. 4), limited by the stop 26 ;, in which it serves to ensure on the bicycle a stable vertical position, and an erased position (see fig. 1), in which it is folded against the tubes 1 and 2, springs 27 fixed, on the one hand, on the foot 26 and, d 'On the other hand, on the tubes 1 and 2, ensure the return of the foot in the retracted position, in which it is hand held by spring clips 28 fixed on the tubes.
The tubes 1 and 2 of the rectangular frame, as well as the branches 4 and 5 of the oblique rear fork are provided with eyelets to pass links, leather straps, for example, to fix various objects on the bicycle. ; in addition, on this frame and this fork can be fixed all the accessory parts of the bicycle, such as control cables, rear light, police plate, etc.
When the bicycle is used in the army, a rifle, a rucksack, skis, sanitary bags, for example, can: be easily placed and fixed on it, the means of fixing can be studied in such a way that the positioning and the removal of these objects can be done with great speed.
Fig. 3 shows the bicycle used with a bridge 18 placed on the rectangular frame by means of feet 19, the ends of which can be provided with flanges with wing nuts for the firm attachment of the bridge to the frame. The deck can also, when the nature of the objects transported requires it. be equipped with side walls and a tarpaulin not shown. Deck 18 allows the easy transport of heavy objects, such as tool boxes, commercial travelers' marmots, hawkers, etc.
In fig. 4, a box 120 is placed on the frame and is fixed there by flanges and nuts not shown, this box having, in its bottom, an opening for the passage (the chain 16 and the rear wheel. box 20 is provided with a hinged cover 21 opening from back to front and allows the transport of all objects or products to be protected from the elements, which will be particularly used, for example, by postal mail carriers, ecclesiastics, doctors, florists, etc.
In fig. 5, a body 22 is securely fixed by flanges and nuts on the frame and on the inclined fork. This coachwork has a ra.battable soft top 23, a side door 24 and an interior seat 25 with elastic suspension. This bodywork is executed in light metal. such as hard aluminum, for example, (: t can be of an elegant aerodynamic shape; it allows easy and safe transport (children, whose age does not yet allow them to use a When it comes to transporting young children, seat 25 can be replaced by a hammock.
The remaining space available in the bodywork makes it possible to hold all useful objects, such as spare linen, food products, etc.
The bicycle described has the advantage, although (read of a price and a weight hardly higher than those of an ordinary bicycle, of making it possible to carry out transport which cannot generally be done with the ordinary bicycle. (read by means of a heavy and dangerous trailer. The particular arrangement of the rear of the bicycle described makes it possible to position the transported object so that its center of gravity is located ap- proximiniativenient in the vertical of the rear wheel,
the large balloon tire of which has sufficient elasticity to absorb shocks due to unevenness of the road. Of course, the invention is not limited to what is shown in the drawing; in particular, the above-mentioned device could be applied to a two-seater bicycle, or a tandem bicycle.
