Zinklegierung.
Vorzugsweise enthalten die Legierungen :einen Aluminiumgehalt von 0,1 bis 1,0 und einen Kupfergehalt von 0,09 bis 0,7 %, insbesondere die Legierungen mit 0,7 bis 0,9-% Aluminium, beispielsweise 0,8 % Alu minium und0,3 bis 0,5% Kupfer, beispiels weise 0,4% Kupfer, sowie 0;
Zinc alloy. Zinc alloys are known for which aluminum, copper and magnesium are used as alloy components.
Such alloys contain, for example, 1-15% aluminum plus copper and 0.01-0A% magnesium. Zinc injection-molded alloys with 2 to 1-0 aluminum, up to 2% copper and 0.01 to 0.3% magnesium are also known.
Finally, zinc alloys with additions of copper, aluminum and magnesium have already been specified, in which the copper content should be greater than the aluminum content and this again greater than the magnesium content. Alloys are also known:
which in addition to changing copper and magnesium gels and aluminum contents of. contain more than 1 other alloy component such as nickel, titanium or silver.
The subject of the present patent is a zinc alloy with aluminum, magnesium and copper contents: in which the aluminum content .not more than 2%, the. Copper up to 1% of the magnesium content is 0.001-0.1%, and:
the remainder of which is fine zinc with less than 0.01 each of tin, lead and cadmium. Furthermore, the aluminum content of these alloys should be at least equal to the copper content.
The alloys preferably contain: an aluminum content of 0.1 to 1.0 and a copper content of 0.09 to 0.7%, in particular the alloys with 0.7 to 0.9% aluminum, for example 0.8 % aluminum and 0.3 to 0.5% copper, for example 0.4% copper, and 0;
00'1 to 0.02% magnesium, for example 0.1% magnesium or 0.02% magnesium, the remainder being fine zinc, have proven particularly successful.
It has been shown that alloys of this composition can be processed excellently, are lousy and more malleable than the previously known zinc alloys with higher aluminum and / or copper contents.
The alloys can be shaped by extrusion, die pressing, rolling or drawing. In accordance with the previous knowledge about the relationship between fatigue strength and plasticity, it was to be expected that the alloys mentioned would have a relatively low fatigue strength due to their good deformability.
In contrast to these expectations, it has now surprisingly shown that the alloys are characterized by a high fatigue strength that exceeds that of the alloys with higher contents of aluminum and copper.
An example is an alloy with 0.8% aluminum, 0.475 copper and 0.02% magnesium. This alloy is easy to process into sheets, strips and wires. The following values were determined on a sheet of 1 mm thick rolled from this alloy:
Strength 36 kg / mm \ elongation 52 The fatigue strength has about five times the value of previously known commercially available, aluminum-containing zinc alloys. You can also use the alloy to produce rods, profiles and die-pressed parts.
The alloys with aluminum and copper contents of up to 1% each are also well suited as cast alloys, both in sand, permanent mold and injection molding. For this purpose too, the aluminum content is chosen to be at least equal to the copper content.
The special technical advantage of the alloys for casting purposes is that because of the low content of alloy constituents, the risk of segregation is greatly reduced. Despite the low content of alloy components, the castings are fine-grained.
A remarkable property of the castings made from these alloys is the high fatigue strength, which exceeds that of the higher alloyed zinc alloys used up to now. This property is particularly advantageous where castings are used for self-supporting parts, such as B. Candelabra Arms.
The high fatigue strength is illustrated by the following example: An alloy with 0.8% Al, 0.4% Cu and 0.02% Mg, the remainder fine zinc, showed a 4 (in hardness flow tests) has up to 5 times less flow than an alloy with 4.0% Al, 1.0% Cu and 0.03% Mg under the same test conditions.
For example, Wasserleituugszapfventile were made from the aforementioned alloy. The taps showed a clean, smooth surface and a fine-grain break. The valves also showed a remarkably high deformability for cast parts. During installation, the thread on the wall panel was tightened so much that the cocks twisted.
Nevertheless, the thread was not destroyed, nor did the valve body break.
