] Control method for systems for generating hot compressed air by means of a gas turbine. Despite its still modest degree of efficiency, the constant pressure gas turbine is suitable for driving compressors for the delivery of hot compressed air, such as is needed in chemical or steel mills, since the gas turbine drive is very simple.
Namely, the same gases that are used to heat the compressed air can be used as the propellant gases of the gas turbine, provided that the air or wind heater is also operated under pressure on the hot gas side, ie "charged". Combustion chamber of the air heater and the gas turbine are: then together. The system becomes even simpler and more economical if the wind blower (the useful air compressor) and the compressor for the combustion air for the production of heating gas and propellant gas are also combined.
The control method is that in systems in which the common compressor for useful air and combustion air is driven by a gas turbine and in which a common combustion chamber is used to generate the hot gases for heating the compressed air and for generating the propellant gases of the gas turbine, for the purpose of keeping the temperature constant and a further operating variable of the useful air by means of at least one valve that is controlled by a pulse generator responsive to changes in one operating variable,
the ratio of the amount of air going through the common combustion chamber and the amount of air going directly to the gas turbine through a bypass line is changed, and that the fuel supply is changed by means of a further pulse generator responding to changes in the second operating variable.
The regulation of independent gas turbines by thermostat, this thermostat can be built, for example, in the exhaust pipe and acts directly on the fuel, was known. It has also already been proposed, in the case of independent gas turbines or gas turbines that drive the loading group to pressure-fired steam boilers or similar devices, to regulate the combustion temperature or the propellant gas temperature by supplying cold air directly to the gas turbine. the amount of which is determined by a thermostat.
In all cases, the temperature setting the thermostat in operation is the temperature of the propellant gas entering or exiting the gas turbine. The present proposal is. on the other hand, not just a Cxa turbine, but a system for generating compressed air, which is supplied in a certain amount or at a certain pressure and at a certain temperature. is to be, the same heating devices are used to heat up the gas turbine propellants and the useful air.
Corresponding to the task of delivering useful air in a certain amount or at a certain pressure and at a certain temperature, the impulses for the control also come from measuring devices that are installed at the point of delivery of the useful air.
The control method is to be explained using the drawing, which schematically shows examples of such systems.
In Fig. 1 a system with the details necessary to carry out the control method is shown schematically. It is 1 the gas turbine. \? the common compressor for the supply of the urine (the useful air) and the combustion air. 3 is a gas blower when gas, e.g. B. furnace gas. used. becomes. 4 is the common combustion chamber for wind and propellant gas heating, which is usually also assembled with the heating surfaces 5 of the upper stage of the wind heater.
The compressed air generated in the compressor 2 is first passed through a preheater 6, which is heated by the exhaust gases of the gas turbine 1, then the air flow splits. One part goes through the air heater at 7 as useful air, a second part serves as combustion air and goes through burner 8 into the combustion chamber and from there, after releasing part of its heat, as propellant gas to the gas turbine, a third part is passed through a bypass line 9 passed directly to the gas turbine.
This bypass line 9 is now provided with a control valve 10, the position of which is influenced by a thermostat 11, which is installed at the outlet of the hot air from the heater. In general, the temperature of the hot wind and especially the exit temperature of the heating lawn from the air heater will be higher than the temperature that the propellant gases may have in front of the gas turbine. Therefore, a certain amount of air will always flow through the bypass line as cooling air to the gas turbine.
If the temperature of the hot wind deviates from the required one, for example if it is too low, the thermostat 11 opens the valve 10 so that less air now flows through the combustion chamber and the heater, but even more through the bypass line. The wind temperature rises because the heating gas temperature was higher, but the amount of air to be heated decreased. This decrease in the amount of wind has the consequence that the menometer 12 now shows a shortfall and increases the fuel supply at 13.
As a result, more fuel gets into the combustion chamber, the propellant gas temperature is now also increased, and an increase in the power and speed of the gas turbine is brought about. The compressor will deliver more air until the flow meter 12 indicates the correct amount again. At the same time, the thermostat 11 leads the control valve 10 of the order bypass line 9 back to its old position.
If the amount is incorrect, the control process takes place in a corresponding, similar manner. If there is too much air, the fuel supply is reduced by the flow meter 12, for example. All temperatures decrease. This also reduces the performance of the gas turbine and the air delivery. At the same time, the air temperature is monitored by the thermostat 11 and compensated for its deviation from the desired value with the control valve 10 by bypass air.
Various options are available for fuel control. In the case of gas firing, for example, the gas compressor 3 driven by the gas turbine can be regulated by a throttle valve 13, but the amount of gas can also be adjusted by an overflow valve. The gas blower can also be driven by a special motor and regulated (16 of FIG. 2).
The connection of the pulse generator with the control devices can also be interchanged, for example the amount of fuel can be controlled by the thermostat 11 and the amount of air bypassed by the flow meter 12, which changes the sequence of the control processes, but the result remains the same.
In certain systems, it is not necessary to set the amount of hot wind, but rather that of the pressure. In this case, the flow meter 12 is replaced by a pressure meter, which acts either on the amount of fuel or on the amount of air circulated.
In order to avoid the throttle loss in the overflow valve, the air for the bypass line can also be taken from a lower pressure stage of the compressor (line 17 or 17 ') if the flow resistance in the combustion chamber and heat exchanger is greater. As a rule, it could also be used up by work, for example in a special upstream turbine or in one of the upstream wheels in the main turbine. The best way to regulate the amount is to switch nozzles on or off.
Fig. 2 shows schematically the case of a coupled to the main turbine 1 before switching turbine 7.4. The nozzles 15 are sequentially opened by the thermostat 11 ge. A motor 16 is used to drive the fuel pump or the fuel blower 3, the speed of which is regulated by the quantity regulator 12, for example. It can also be advantageous to keep the pressure of the propellant gas of the gas turbine, that is to say the combustion air and the mixed air, or the combustion air alone, higher than the pressure of the useful air.
In this case, the useful air is drawn off and then combustion air and mixed air, or only the combustion air, is recompressed in a further stage. A common air preheater can also be used for different pressures of the different air proportions.
if its air-side collecting spaces are separated off accordingly, as in FIG. 1 at 18 respectively. 18 'is shown.
