La fig. 1 est une vue de face d'une bar rière unique; La fig. 2 en est une vue de profil; La fig. 3 en est une vue partielle en plan; La fig. 4 est une vue de face à plus grande échelle montrant les parties essen tielles et une coupe partielle verticale longi tudinale (lu frein hydraulique; La fig. 5 est une vue partielle en coupe verticale longitudinale du cylindre -et du piston du frein hydraulique montrant le dis positif retardant 1e mouvement :de fermeture de la barrière; La fig. 6 est une vue partielle de profil de la fig. 5;
Semi-automatic barrier. The object of the present invention is a barrier of the horizontal axis type for controlling a passage, for example a level step. The barrier which can be either green by hand, for example: from the seat of an automobile, remains automatically or green for a predetermined time allowing the vehicle: to pass, then closes automatically, while, as is known ', with the current: ordinary barriers :, the motorist: is:
forced to stop and ash the car twice to open them, then: close them.
When the barrier is that of: an unguarded level crossing, for example, it is completed with a device for locking the barrier at 1a. closed position, commanded from a: sufficiently large distance, by the train, so that, if this locking occurs accidentally while the barrier: is open, the vehicle has time to pass before the arrival of the train and - a de-unlocking device controlled by the same train after its passage.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view of a single barrier; Fig. 2 is a side view; Fig. 3 is a partial plan view; Fig. 4 is a front view on a larger scale showing the essential parts and a partial vertical longitudinal section (the hydraulic brake; Fig. 5 is a partial view in longitudinal vertical section of the cylinder and piston of the hydraulic brake showing the positive delaying movement: of closing the barrier, Fig. 6 is a partial side view of Fig. 5;
Fig. 7 -is a perspective view showing schematically the mechanical connection of two barriers to a level crossing; Fig. 8 is a schematic drawing of the locking-and unlocking device and its remote control. In fig. 1, 1 is a counterweight, 2 and 5 bolted in 3 form the arms of the bar which pivots around the axis 4 between the "cheeks" of the upright 6 in iron I the core of which has been removed along the length a (fig. 4).
Fixed on the arm 2, a yoke 7 carries the axis 8 in the middle of which is suspended the rod 17 (fig. 4) of the hydraulic brake piston 9 (fig. 1), the cylinder of which pivots at its lower part on the axis 10.
In fig. 2 and 3, we see in the pro length of axis 4 and on each side, a tube 11 freely supported, on the one hand, on the end of axis 4, on the other hand, in the support 12 placed at a distance b of about three meters, variable depending on the case, from my 6.
On the end of each tube 11 touching the upright 6 is fixed by clamping by means of a bolt 13 (fig. 4) a lever arm 14 which controls, by its fork 15, the end of the axis 8 integral with the arm 2.
At the other end of the tube 11, the operating lever 16 is fixed by the same means as the lever 14, in a position easy to reach by the motorist from his seat.
In fig. 4 and 5, 18 shows the pinion in which the bores 19 and 20 are shown diametrically opposed. In the wise bore 19 slides the cylindrical rod 21 freely, having a groove 22 extending over the greater part of its length. This rod is retained in the direction of its fall by a pin 23.
In the bore 20 passes the rod 24 of the valve 25 centered by the three-branch guides 26. 27 and 28 constitute a dust cover retained on the piston rod 17 by the pin 29.
30 is the cylinder liner whose welded bottom 31 comprises a millet 32 in which the eccentric sleeve 33-, intermediate between the cylinder and the axis 10, can be blocked in the appropriate angular position by screw 33 '. 33 "is a bearing surface of the eccentric bush 33 on which it may be, marked with position marks relative to the millet 32.
Fig. 7 shows two barriers coupled by the connecting rods 34 articulated, on the one hand, to the arm 2 and, on the other hand, to the lever arms 35 integral with a connecting member 3'6 in the form of a tube, which is supported and rotates in bearings 37; this connecting member passes under the track.
Fig. 8 schematically shows the positive locking device of the barrier by the bolt 38 in stop engagement -on the keeper 39 fixed, for example, to the arm 5 of the barrier and op- noting on its opening. The bolt has a nose 40 which limits its travel between the two guides 41, it is integral with the rod 42 and the armature 43 of the electromagnet 44. On the rod 42, a pin 45 keeps lightly compress the spring 46 between the shoulder of the bolt and the groove ring 47.
The three-branch lever 53 driven by the grooved ring 47, the hook lever 51 and the spring 52 constitute the latch engagement mechanism; while the electromagnet 48. the armature 49, its link 50 and the hook lever 51. constitute the mechanism for triggering the lock. The stop screw 54 limits the position of the lever 51. 55 and 56 are the contacts closing the respective circuits of the electromagnets 44 and 48.
The barrier operates from the closed position shown in the drawing, when the motorist, from his seat, pulls the lever 16 integral with the tubes 11, the levers 14, the axle 8 and finally the arms. of the barrier which opens. At the same time, the axis 8 drags the piston 18 by its rod 17, forcing the liquid contained in the cylinder 30 to step from below above said piston through the bore 20 by lifting the valve 25.
The piston 18 reaching full stroke, the valve 25 closes and the barrier, fully open, is left to itself, while the motorist passes and leaves.
At this moment the excess weight of the arm 5 of the barrier intervenes on its counterweight 1, tending to lower it, urging the piston 18 upwards and creating a depression below it which closes 1a. valve and presses the rod 21 on the bottom 31 of the cylinder.
Under these conditions, the only then possible passage of the liquid from above below the piston 18 is constituted by the clearance which exists between the bore 19 and the solid cylindrical part of the rod 21 over the length c: and produces braking of the ascent of the piston on this languor during which the barrier descends by about 10 at a very slow speed which represents time. fully open, of the barrier.
When the piston, continuing its ascent, discovers the recess 22 of the rod 21, the liquid can pass more freely and the worse ton accelerating its ascent, the barrier closes at a corresponding speed.
The full opening time of the bar can be modified by increasing or decreasing the length c, which is obtained by lowering or raising the cylinder by means of the eccentric sleeve 33 which is turned by a certain arc. around -. 'fixed axis 10.
If the barrier closes a level crossing, it additionally comprises a locking device activated electrically for example, when a train arrives towards a level step and when it passes at a protective distance deemed sufficient. In this case, the locomotive closes, in passing, the contact 55 - and the circuit of the electromagnet 44, which attracts from right to left: the frame 43 integral with the rod 42 and, the bolt 3 $ which, smooth neck in them. .guides 41 and is placed above the strike 39.
In this movement, the rod 42, by its pin 45, drives the groove ring 47 and the spring 46 slightly compressed against the shoulder of the bolt. In its turn, the ring 47 drives the three-branch lever 53 through its groove, overcoming the traction of the spring 52 and the engaging branch of the lever 53 then comes to be caught under the hook of the lever 51.
In this position (fig. 8), the bolt is firmly immobilized and locks it. fence. When the train has passed, the locomotive closes the contact 56 and the circuit of the electromagnet 48 which attracts its armature 19 and, by its connecting rod 50, the lever 51 by overcoming the traction of the res goes out 52 which, when the hook of the lever 51 releases the engagement branch of the lever 53 ,, causes it to return to its initial position with the ring 47, the spring 46, the rod 42, the bolt 38 and the frame 43.
At this time the barrier is released and can be opened again.
The locking mechanism: described above can be combined with an optical and acoustic signaling device.
If by chance the locking operates when the barrier is opened, the latter, closing automatically, will also lock itself thanks to the inclined plane of the strike which will push the bolt backwards. compressing the spring 46, said res exits pushing the bolt in the rusting position as soon as the strike has passed down-
