Fig. 2 est une vue en coupe selon la ligne II de f ig. 1.
Stamping process and device for its covering. It is known that in the manufacture of stamping tools, the machining of the two faces of the blank holder represents the work. longest and most expensive.
These two faces must be adjusted exactly one on the other, so as to bear perfectly at all their points, in order to exert a uniform pressure on the entire periphery of the sheet to be stamped.
Correct performance of this adjustment depends on the correct operation: of the stamping: age, and it can be said that all manufacturing incidents are due, in general, to a bad adjustment of the blank.
As in most cases, the faces of the clamp are not flat surfaces, but surfaces. curves, adjustment can only be done by hand. This results in long and expensive work which in practice has serious drawbacks due to the relatively considerable delays involved in the execution of the tools.
In addition, the maintenance of the tools is made expensive because of the wear which is not uniform and which requires frequent repairs to the faces of the hold-down clamp and a new adjustment.
The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks; it comprises a stamping process and a device for carrying out this process.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that the clamping of the blank is carried out between an elastic part and a rigid part, so as to mold the first as exactly as possible on the second, when the pressure is exerted. , in order to achieve a distribution chosen in advance of the intensity of the tightening of the blank between these parts, regardless of the inequalities, for adjusting these two said parts with respect to one another.
The device according to the invention, for implementing this method, is characterized in that it comprises a blank holder, one element of which comprises at least one elastic part, while the other element has a rigid opposite part. , so that the first mentioned element is molded as exactly as possible on the second, under the effect of the clamping pressure, so as to achieve a pre-selected distribution of the clamping intensity blank between these elements,
whatever the inequalities of adjustment of said elements with respect to one another.
The appended drawing shows schematically, by way of example, one embodiment and two variants of the device which the invention comprises, illustrating layouts of the process.
Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view of this embodiment of the device.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view along line II of fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section of the first variant.
Fig. 4 is a partial view along IV-IV of FIG. 3.
Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional view of the second variant.
In fig. 1, there is shown at 1 the fixed element of the blank holder forming the actual die which is constituted, as usual, by a left machined surface. This die will preferably be obtained by the process called approximate cast iron, according to which the desired shape is produced directly in a bare foundry by means of an exact model, the machining being reduced to a simple cleaning and scraping of the surface.
2 shows the rigid body of the movable part intended to cooperate with the fixed element 1 to clamp the sheet or blank 3 which is to be stamped by means of the punch 4.
In order to avoid the adjustment referred to in the preamble, the part of the movable element 2, which is intended to cooperate with the rigid element 1, is made elastic as will be indicated. The rigid part of the mobile element 2 of the .serre-blank is raw. An elastic metal band 5 is fixed, by its edge, to this element of the blank holder, by means of screws 6. A piece of rubber 7 in the form of a band is embedded in a housing 7 'as cast of the greenhouse. -flan 2, projecting slightly out of this housing.
Band 5 holds the piece of rubber in place. It can easily be seen that, when the element 2 is lowered to clamp the blank 3 against the machined surface of the element 1, it is the strip 5 which comes into contact with the blank 3, the rubber part 7 being com awarded between the rigid part of the element 2 and the strip 5 and giving, by its local deformation, a uniform distribution of the pressure on the blank.
Thus a rigorously uniform clamping of the blank is obtained, as required by the stamping technique, without it being necessary to adjust one element of the blank holder. On the other. The adjustment of the clamping pressure can be done by suitably choosing the dimensions of the rubber part or its hardness.
In the case of hold-downs with an accentuated curved shape, the preparation of the strip 5 could in itself represent a fairly long work, given the complexity of the shapes that may come into play.
To facilitate the realization of the device in such cases, provision is made, as indicated in FIG. 2, to split the strip 5 over part of its width, parallel to the direction of the ef forts exerted on this strip during the stamping.
The strip 5 is cut along the contour of the matmioe 1 and the punch 4 and has saw cuts or slits 9, in the part subjected to the pressure of the rubber, so as to allow easy application, without resistance, strips thus formed, on the blank 3.
These. slots are oriented so that in the stamping-wise work the forces exerted on the slats are longitudinal tensile forces. These. The slots will only be of interest to part of the width of the blade which is fixed on the rigid part of the blank holder by its rear part at 10.
It should be noted that the device described allows the affixing of embossing strips in places where the draft on the sheet must be considerably increased. These bars will be fixed on the die, according to a common process, and their corresponding housing fitted in the flexible strip 5.
It can be seen that, in the example described, the machining could be limited, on the one hand, to a simple cleaning of the upper face 11, of the blank holder die 1, and, on the other hand, to the 'application of a sheet of metal 5 on the actual blank holder 2 without requiring moreover an exact machining of the latter, which can remain as cast.
It follows from this that not only a considerable saving will be able to be made in the execution of the tools, but that the tightening of the blank holder being made uniform, thanks to the presence of rubber, it will be possible to obtain a regularity of manufacture. tion unknown with rigid devices where wear and adjustment changes lead to accidents, such as bad sheet tension and the formation of folds in the stamped part; or, on the contrary, tearing it apart.
The rubber band 7 can be fully embedded - or only partially in the housing 7 ', depending on the case. The rubber can not only be of more or less hard qualities, but. it may also have a greater or lesser width of the strip, in order to accentuate the pressure at the points where this may be necessary. In all cases, there is therefore the possibility, by virtue of the devices described, of obtaining a distribution chosen in advance of the intensity of the tightening on the various parts of the blank.
In the variant according to fig. 3 and 4, the elastic part of the blank holder is constituted by a series of separate elastic elements 12 arranged next to each other against the raw face of the rigid part of the blank holder 2, to form the line of support on the sheet. These elastic elements each consist of two blades 12 and 13 bolted at 14 to the mobile blank holder 2 and enclosing between them a rubber block 15.
These elastic elements are arranged, thus over the entire periphery of the blank holder 2, as seen in FIG. 4. In this example also, it will thus be possible to use in 1 and 2 raw cast parts with very narrow machining, these local variations in shape of the first part of the blank holder relative to the second being offset by rubber.
In another variant, each piece of rubber 1,6 may be arranged so as to fill a metal box formed by two pieces 17 and 18 sliding one on the other (fig. 5), so as to increase the pressure. by making use of the incompressibility of the rubber placed in the enclosed space delimited by said box. It is thus possible to use elastic elements comprising rubber choucs of different hardnesses depending on the effect to be obtained.
