Ignition distributor. Since internal combustion engines are operated every now and then with fuels of different composition and therefore different knock resistance, it has proven to be useful to provide the ignition distributor with an adjustment device that allows the ignition timing of the knock resistance of the adapt each to the use of ge long-term fuel. Such an adjusting device, which, for example, can have a screw drive, can also be useful for other reasons.
Since only punched parts are used in the mass production of the adjustment device and their attachment to the engine block is also only carried out on unmachined surfaces, it must be ensured that the correct operation of the adjustment spindle is not jeopardized by the tension and twisting that occur becomes. According to the invention, these difficulties are eliminated in that the adjusting spindle is mounted in the stationary part of the adjusting device with the aid of bodies which have surface parts curved according to spherical surfaces.
1 and 3, an embodiment example of the subject invention is seen from above and from the side and in Fig. 2 the bearing point of the spindle itself is shown on a larger scale.
In the figures, a is a carrier which is attached to the engine block and has an opening b for the bearing neck of the distributor housing to pass through. On the bearing neck of the distributor housing a ge slotted tab c is clamped by means of the screw d so that the distributor housing indicated in Fig. 3 with dashed lines can be pivoted by a relative movement between the parts a and c relative to the distributor axis.
The pivoting takes place by turning the screw spindle e with the help of the Randel knob f, whereby see the nut g rotatably arranged on the bracket c screwed onto the screw spindle e and at the same time executes a pivoting movement.
So that the twists and tensions that occur when the parts of the adjusting device that have not been machined away, in particular also of the carrier a, can impair the smooth running of the screw spindle e on the likewise unprocessed engine block, the screw spindle e is in the flange of the carrier cc stored in spherical surfaces.
The spherical surfaces are formed in that the passage point according to the screw spindle e in the carrier a is rounded on both sides and that in these pan-like rounded areas corresponding; Parts i and k , which are curved according to spherical surfaces and connected to the screw spindle e, engage. Of these, the part i is turned on the collar Z of the edge head, while the part k is pushed loosely onto the screw spindle e and by means of an adjusting nut nt and a spring washer n is brought to bear against the ball socket.
The nut t is therefore only used to fix the adjusting device in a certain position. From Fig. 2 it can be seen that the bearing shown allows a pivoting of the spindle e relative to the horizontal by an angle a readily, the parts i and 1c occupy the position shown in the figure.
Since the bearing parts a, i, k have curved surfaces according to spherical surfaces, the spindle can be pivoted in any direction, so that; even if the base plate) z does not lie flat on the engine block, but is inclined against the bracket c (FIG. 3), it can always assume a position in which the operation of the screw spindle is not in question is. As schor) mentioned at the beginning, such an adjusting device can, for. B. serve to adjust the ignition timing of fuels with various dener knock resistance.
