Process for cooling idling steam turbines. Power generators driven by steam turbines are often operated as phase compensators, in which case the turbine, driven by the power generator, runs idle.
In these cases, care must be taken to ensure that the turbine does not heat up excessively and that the heat generated by pumping and wheel friction work is dissipated, for which purpose an amount of live steam that constantly flows through the turbine is used. The generation of this cooling steam means a useless expense item, the power plant.
The subject of the present invention forming the method for cooling idle turbines allows the cost. To produce this cooling steam to a considerable extent by being used to heat loss of the system.
As such, the heat generated in the lubricating oil of the bearings of the rotating parts of turbines and power generators, as well as the heat which is dissipated from the cooling air of the power generator, are expediently considered.
However, heat losses of the type mentioned can also be used by other groups of machines in operation, as can, for example, heat losses from converters for electrical power.
The figure shows an exemplary embodiment for the implementation of the whole process. The turbine 1 is coupled to the electricity generator 2. During normal operation, live steam enters at 3: the turbine, leaves the same at 4, is precipitated in a condenser 5 and carried away from the condenser by the condensate pump 6.
When the power generator is operated as a phase compensator, the FriseUdampf- admission is blocked and cooling steam is passed from a Ver evaporator 7 through a line 8 into the turbine, which is precipitated in the condenser 5 and discharged by the condensate pump.
What is special now is that the condensate flowing out of the condenser 5 is conveyed by the condensate pump 6 through an oil cooler 9, in which it absorbs the heat that is circulated from an oil vessel 10 through the oil pump 11 Oil cooler 9 and the bearings 12 of the machine group drains lubricating oil from the latter, and then releases the absorbed heat through partial evaporation in the evaporator 7 under negative pressure.
The resulting steam serves as cooling steam for the turbine and is ideal for this because it has a low temperature corresponding to the low pressure in the evaporator. In a surface heat exchanger 13, the air coming out of the electricity generator through a line 14 is cooled and returns through a line 15 to the electricity generator.
This heat, too, is absorbed by the condensate coming in a line 16 from the con densate pump and flowing through a line 17 to the evaporator 7 and used here to form steam. The steam generation in the evaporator 7 can be increased further by adding more heat to the condensate before it enters the evaporator in a - \ Värmeawstausclier 18 by live steam.
Instead of the surface heat exchanger 1: 3, a mixing cooler can also be used. The preheater 18 can be built as a mixer preheater and the United steamer 7 as a surface evaporator. In the same way as it happens in the drawing with the heat loss in the cooling air of the power generator, heat loss from another machine can also occur. which is completely independent of the machine running in compensation mode, are used.
It is of great advantage that the amount of cooling steam is durob. Evaporation of condensate instead of raw water, so that the turbine through which this steam flows is not contaminated. With the method described you can utilize amounts of heat at low temperatures, since the evaporation of water takes place at low pressure, namely the negative pressure generated by the condensation system of the turbine. This is high because the amount of cooling required in compensation mode is usually only about a thousandth of the amount of steam. for which the condensation system is built.
As a result of this possibility of utilizing the heat loss occurring at a low temperature, the live steam consumption for cooling according to the present invention can be avoided or at least greatly reduced.
