Description

  Von den in Frage kommenden Verbin  dungen sind nachfolgend     eine    Anzahl er  wähnt, von denen die meisten bekannt sind;  w o es sich um neue     Verbindungen    handelt,  lassen sie sich nach bekannten Verfahren ge  winnen:       4,4'-Dichlor-diphenylsulfoxyd;        4,4'-Di-          brom-diphenylsulfoxyd;        4-Chlor-4'-brom-di-          phenylsulfoxyd;        4,4'-Difluor-diphenylsulf-          oxyd;        4'-Chlor-x,x-dichlorbenzylsulfoxyd;     3,4 -     Dichlor-        diphenylsulfoxyd;

      3,4,4' -     Tri-          chlor    -     diphenylsulfoxyd    ; 2, 4,     4'-        Trichlor        -          diphenvIsulfoxyd;        2,2',4,4'-Tetrachlor-di-          hhenylsulfoxyd    ;     4-Chlor-diphenylsulfoxy    d;         4-Chlor-4'-methoxy-(oder    auch     4'-äthoxy,          -butoxy,        -amyloxy,        -phenoxy        etc.)-diphenyl-          sulfoxyd.

       4-Chlorphenyl-methylsulfoxyd;        4-Chlor-          phenyl-laurylsulfoxyd.

  Process for protecting hair, fur, feathers, fibrous materials and other goods from moth damage. The subject of the present Zusatzpa tentes is a method for protecting hair, fur, feathers, fibrous materia lien and other goods from moth damage, where after using organic sulfoxides with at least one halogen-substituted aryl radical.

  Of the compounds in question, a number are mentioned below, most of which are known; where new compounds are concerned, they can be obtained by known processes: 4,4'-dichloro-diphenylsulfoxide; 4,4'-di-bromo-diphenyl sulfoxide; 4-chloro-4'-bromo-diphenyl sulfoxide; 4,4'-difluorodiphenyl sulfoxide; 4'-chloro-x, x-dichlorobenzyl sulfoxide; 3,4 - dichlorodiphenyl sulfoxide;

      3,4,4 '- trichloro - diphenylsulfoxide; 2, 4, 4'-trichloro diphenene sulfoxide; 2,2 ', 4,4'-tetrachloro-di-hhenylsulfoxide; 4-chloro-diphenylsulfoxy d; 4-chloro-4'-methoxy- (or also 4'-ethoxy, -butoxy, -amyloxy, -phenoxy, etc.) -diphenyl sulfoxide.

       4-chlorophenyl methyl sulfoxide; 4-chlorophenyl-lauryl sulfoxide.

  Even in very low concentrations, the sulfogyds mentioned are ideally suited for the permanent protection of hair, fur, feathers, fibrous materials and other goods from moth damage. For use mainly solutions in cheap organic solvents such as hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, etc. or mixtures thereof come into question. The substances to be protected can be impregnated by painting, spraying or immersion.

   These sulfoxides can also be used in combination with other control and expulsion agents which are already known for the same purposes. Example: 2 parts of 4,4'-dichloro-diphenylsulfoxide are dissolved in 998 parts of alcohol, furs, feathers or fibrous materials are treated by immersion, centrifuged and dried.

   The goods treated in this way are moth-proof; even more dilute solutions are sufficient, e.g. B. 1 / o "ige, in order to achieve a very good protection.

  Instead of 4,4'-dichloro-diphenylsulfoxide, other of the compounds mentioned can also be used, e.g. B. 4,4'-dibromo-diphenylsulfoxide or 4,4 ', 3-trichloro-diphenylsulfoxide. Protection for the present process is only claimed to the extent that it is not a purely mechanical refinement of Teatilf: asern that is considered for the textile industry.
