Description
Dehnbare Velokette.
Stretchable bicycle chain. The present invention relates to a stretchable bicycle chain.
In the case of bicycles with several translations, a tensioner acting on the loose strand of the chain had previously to be used; to keep the chain taut. One has tried to avoid this by making the chain itself resilient. But oval connecting bolts between the chain links or oval holes are provided in the link plates, which, however, always required an expensive production.
The present invention enables the use of a conventional link strand for the chain by the extensibility is achieved by the fact that springs are arranged which tend to pivot adjacent chain links with respect to each other and thus to shorten the chain.
In the drawing, a Ausführungsbei game of the subject invention is shown, namely: Fig. 1 shows a stretchable chain on a bicycle in side view and Fig. 2 shows a part of this chain on a larger scale; Figures 3 and 4 show a detail of another embodiment of the chain.
The chain according to FIGS. 1 and 2 has, as usual, tabs 1 and these ver binding bolts 2. On every fourth Ket ten link an arcuate leaf spring 3 is now attached to the outside, which bridges three chain links. The ends of these springs, which are kept somewhat narrower than the central part of the springs, rest on the spacing sleeves 4 and 5 of the end bolts of the three chain links and press them against one another.
The springs themselves who th in the middle by a th on the Glie the outwardly protruding bracket 6, carried out on the inside of the tabs 1 of the middle chain link and bent around the same from the inside out. In these brackets, the leaf springs are held on the two bracket legs by indentations 7 facing one another. The brackets 6 are perpendicular to the direction of movement of the chain. They have a dual purpose; on the one hand they hold the leaf springs 3 as described and on the other hand they are used to guide the helical spring 8 looped around the linkage.
This coil spring has the purpose of pressing the chain links into the chain wheels 9, 10. However, this could also be caused by the leaf springs 3 with a sufficiently strong design, but this would have the disadvantage that a considerable force would have to be used to stretch the chain in the upper run.
Instead of assigning an endless coil spring 8, a steel band, wire or cable can also be placed around the chain, the ends of which are connected to one another by a spring.
The pivoting of the individual chain links in relation to one another does not necessarily have to be effected by leaf springs. For example, it is possible on the two chain links to each other connec denden bolts, for. B. zen wire springs on, the legs of which overlap the two adjacent bolts and press against each other. Instead of a wavy line, the chain takes on the shape of a zigzag line in a loose trunnion.
According to FIGS. 3 and 4, the leaf springs 11 have a rectangular cutout 1 2. They are in turn held by indentations 7 in the bracket 6 and rest with their ends on the tabs 13 of the neighboring links be. This design has the advantage of reducing friction and wear.
