Description
Axle with at least one thickening, in particular for bicycles, and method for their production. The previously known axes with at least one thickening are worked out from the solid, that is, from a workpiece with the diameter of the thickening by turning or forging in the die.
The axis according to the invention, which also includes a shaft, is characterized in that the thickening is produced by upsetting in the axial direction. In the manufacture of this axle, a workpiece with the diameter of the unthickened axle is assumed and, as there is no turning or forging, around 30 to 50% of material and labor time can be saved.
Embodiments of the subject invention are explained with reference to the drawing.
Fig. 1 illustrates in vertical section and in plan a device for the manufacture of axes with thickenings from a smooth cylindrical piece of steel according to FIG. 2. After the workpiece b has been electrically heated to red heat in a short period of time, the same is perpendicular placed on the adjustable abutment screw w in the upsetting device set up specifically for this purpose (which can be attached to any eccentric or screw press). The start of the machine respectively. the lowering of the upsetting head a onto the heated workpiece b produces a thickening b 'between the lowering part g and the upsetting head a.
This Ver thickening can be selected larger or smaller, as well as in different shapes, according to the shape of the die part. The journal length can be regulated by adjusting the height of the workpiece using the abutment screw w.
By reversing and reheating the workpiece b, at least one second thickening can be upset, so that a bicycle axle according to FIG. 3 with two thickenings b1 from. Diameter D arises.
These thickenings and the two ends must then be leveled on this axis and the necessary wedge stems milled in.
Fig. 4 shows a horizontal Stauchvor direction, with which two thickenings bi can be produced at the same time.
The workpiece can be heated by the movable copper electrodes.
Fig. 5 to 10 illustrate some ver different designs of axles and axle parts, which can be produced by upsetting at the appropriate (Testalt of the press heads and dies.
