Process for the production of shaped pieces, in particular buttons, badges, brooches made of synthetic resin. The invention relates to a method for producing molded pieces provided with a decorative film, in particular buttons, badges, brooches made of synthetic resin molded material, by pressing in the heat, as well as a molded piece produced by this method.
It is well known that the molded materials made of phenolic resins have the disadvantage that it is not possible to produce pure, bright bezw. to achieve white tones. It is also not possible to use light, lifelike grains, e.g. B. those of light woods or other light patterns to replicate. Urea resins do not have the disadvantages in terms of color, but even with them it is not readily possible to produce any prescribed patterns.
It has already been proposed to put on the synthetic resin compositions impregnated with a synthetic resin lacquer decorative films, in particular made of paper or fabric, and to combine these impregnated decorative films with the synthetic resin body of the object to be produced by pressure and heat. Such impregnated papers or the like, however, have to be dried thoroughly before they can be used as a support, as they need long-term heat exposure when they are moist.
until the solvent has evaporated and the synthetic resin impregnation compound has softened. Such drying requires particularly extensive equipment, considerable time and a lot of heat. The dried papers are difficult to handle because they break easily and therefore result in a lot of waste. Furthermore, when they are impregnated with synthetic resin lacquers, the decorative foils absorb a great deal of the lacquer material, which of course makes them more expensive.
Loss of solvent also takes place, even if regeneration systems are used for this. The purpose of the process forming the subject of the present invention is to avoid these disadvantages.
The method according to the invention for the production of molded pieces provided with a decorative film, in particular buttons, badges, brooches, on synthetic resin by pressing in heat, is characterized in that the body of the molded piece forming the lower layer is made of synthetic resin material in one operation produced and combined with a transparent top layer made of acetyl cellulose, with a third, middle layer made of a patterned, non-impregnated decorative film between the two layers mentioned,
which provides the finished object with a pattern, is gel eight.
If Gewün.seht, between the decorative film, the z. B. made of paper or the like. Can be. and the synthetic resin material a layer of paper or similar material can be placed.
As mentioned, the process is expediently carried out in one operation in your form, in such a way that molding, hardening of the synthetic resin material and some of the transparent outer layer with the synthetic resin body take place practically simultaneously under the influence of pressure and heat.
You can either use the synthetic resin material in the form of the known synthetic resin molding powder or you can already produce a pre-pressed Robliig. but which has not yet been converted into the finished state.
In practice, the procedure can for example be carried out as follows. A sheet of transparent acetyl cellulose, such as those known in the trade under the name "Cellon", is placed in a steel mold whose bottom surface and, if necessary, its edge surfaces are designed according to the desired shape of the finished molding .
For example, a paper printed with the desired pattern, with the tip against the transparent sheet of acetyl cellulose, and the synthetic resin material is applied to it, be it in the loose state or as a preformed body. l) the whole is pressed together with the help of a stamp using the heat required to convert the synthetic resin into the final state.
If desired, the mold can be heated or heated in a stepped manner by heating that part of the mold that surrounds the synthetic resin material higher than that part of the mold. against which the transparent upper layer is placed. Such a step-by-step heating can be obtained, for example, by electrical means through appropriate distribution and dimensioning of the radiators.
In many cases it is useful to use a capper-like structure with a right-hand edge for the transparent top layer made of aoetyl cellulose and then the decorative foil in this cap-like structure, which z.
B. made of printed paper or the like can be inserted and the synthetic resin material, be it for example as a loose powder, be it for example as a pre-pressed molding to apply.
The height of the edge depends on the circumstances. As a rule, it is not necessary to choose the edge as high as the thickness of the entire finished pressed object. A type of frame is used in which the decorative film and a certain part of the synthetic resin material is introduced so that after the object has been pressed, the transparent edge somewhat encompasses the lower layer forming the body of the molding.
It is through this embodiment of the method a FITS numb training of the edge of the fer term fittings such. B. a button, it is enough and secured a particularly firm and bare union of multiple layers of the fitting.
In the accompanying drawing, two exemplary embodiments of molded pieces produced according to the claimed method are shown. Furthermore, the drawing shows two compression molds loaded with material in section.
1 and 2 are sections: through two buttons manufactured according to the claimed method; 3 is a vertical section through a press mold loaded with material for the production of a plate or a button, a pre-pressed synthetic resin body being provided as synthetic resin material;
Fig. 3, a is a section through a cap-like structure; FIG. 4 is a representation similar to FIG. 3, wherein loose press powder is provided as synthetic resin material.
In Fig. 1, a denotes the actual body of a button, which body consists of synthetic resin material which has been converted into the final hardening state. b is the decorative film, for example a sheet of paper printed with the desired colored pattern. c is the transparent top layer of acetyl cellulose, e.g. B. from a sheet of cellon.
Fig. 2 shows another embodiment of a button. a is again the body of the button made of synthetic resin material, b is the decorative film made of printed paper or the like, cl is the transparent upper layer of acetyl cellulose, which was used in the manufacture of the button in the form of a cap and the edge c2 when finished Button over the body a.
In Fig. 3, d means a shape, e.g. B. made of steel. The bottom e is designed according to the shape of the upper surface of the finished object. A cap-like structure c made of acetyl cellulose, e.g. B. from the well-known "Cellon" inserted.
Fig. 3a shows this structure forming the top layer c .gesondert. In the transparent, cap-shaped structure, the decorative film b, z. B. made of printed paper, fabric or the like., And then a pre-pressed molding a 'made of synthetic resin, with-, -hi.el, sweise in the form of a disk, is placed.
A press die (not shown), the lower surface of which is designed in accordance with the design of the bottom of the button or the like, is then inserted into this mold and put under pressure after the mold has been heated. It goes without saying that the rims of the mold can be arranged so that they can be removed or displaced in a known manner, so that the finished object can be easily removed.
FIG. 4 shows a similar shape, but in which the synthetic resin material 2 is introduced in the form of the usual press powder. Pressing and heating take place in the same way as described above.
The bottom of the mold can be provided with depressions or elevations or both if the upper surface of the pressed object is to be given a relief-like design.
