Joint, in particular for the drive shafts of motor vehicles. The invention relates to a steering system, in particular for the drive shafts of motor vehicles, in which the offset of the shafts is effected in one direction by a hinge and in the direction perpendicular to it by a pin of one shaft which is inserted into a Engages recess of the other shaft.
In the known universal joints of this type of the two shafts against each other from supporting pin is always only designed as a ball pin, which is connected by a behaving weak neck with one of Wel len. This has the disadvantage that the pin with occasional overloads on the joint, z. B. when creating the vehicle out of difficult terrain, bounces too much or even breaks. As a result, the operating conditions of the joint are made more difficult or its function is called into question at all.
In addition, only point contact is possible between the ball stud and the socket supporting it, which results in permanent changes in shape on the surfaces when the joint is heavily used.
In contrast, the essence of the invention is that the pin is designed as a prism extending in the first direction and is mounted in the recess through the intermediary of a spherical joint block that is open on both sides in this direction. A prism should be understood to mean a body of any basic shape, the guidelines of which are parallel to one another.
This design of the Ge joint allows the moment of resistance of the pin neck to be increased to a multiple desjeni conditions that can be achieved with the known ball pin. Such a pin can therefore neither spring through nor break in the event of occasional overload.
Because the prismatic peg is supported in this recess by means of a joint block that is open on both sides, the desired mobility remains.
