nämlich 1i1"" Sek. g <B>-</B> leich <B>1</B> ca. 45 Zeilen.

In hig.

Television broadcasting method and arrangement for carrying out the same. The present invention relates to a television broadcasting method which eliminates the flicker of images and to an arrangement for carrying out the same.
As is known, as shown in Fig. La Darge, an image area 1 is currently scanned in such a way that a point of light 2 moves from top to bottom in contiguous lines across the image area, as indicated by the arrows in Fig. La . Each point of the image is therefore only exposed once per image structure. At? 5 images per second there is a lightless pause between two luminous moments of a picture element per second.
In Fig. 1b, the line course of the vertical movement of the picture element is shown in curve 3, as it is going on in today's Ver drive. Any pixel, e.g. B. the point? the Fig. la, is illuminated with the long pauses indicated by the time z (r - 1 /.,; Sec.). It is very obvious to allow this clielstand to turn around, that the path of the image point is chosen differently.
You only have to ensure that a given picture element resp. his immediate surroundings are struck by light more than once per image construction.
The curve 4 'shown in Fig. 1b. 4 "fulfills this' condition. In that each picture element per picture build-up time twice, i.e. with pauses of only 1 /;" Second is drawn. Of course, as shown by curve 5, this relationship can be improved even further by performing a tilting vin- bing in the vertical direction at: 75 Hertz at? 5 images per second.
In Fig. 1 U this is shown by the curve 5, in which each image line per image three times at intervals of only 1 /; of the liceutir, en pause value is exposed. This wiii-e the Fliminereindruel @ rest loosely avoided.

During the image transmission, i.e. during ', i sec., the film stands still and in this case is imaged on a 90-line spiral perforated disc 10 through the optics 13, 14 .
The disc rotates at 3000 rpm, so it rotates all the way around twice per image time. As a result, a photo cell 15 arranged behind the pane 10 would register a 90-line image twice in succession. if the necessary offset of the lines with respect to one another was not taken care of. This is optically it goes through a plane-parallel, approximately 5 mm thick glass plate 16, which is driven, for example, by a polarized relay 17 and is thrown back and forth between two stops 18 and 19.
If the plate 16 assumes its two limit positions con stant during one full revolution of the disc 10. the image of the film 6 shifts over the disk division 10 'in the vertical, that is to say radial, direction by an adjustable amount which is equal to the width of a line. The relay is expediently driven synchronously with the alternating drive current. which feeds the disc motor, possibly via interposed phase shifters, and the relay is set so that it tips over in less than a line and then stops.
This arrangement is also easy to re-dimension for three or four times the repetition.
The specified solution with a spiral hole disc and jerky film transport still has the serious disadvantage. that the advancement time required by the common Maltese cross gear is too long for television purposes,
namely 1i1 "" sec. g <B> - </B> slightly <B> 1 </B> approx. 45 lines. The following arrangement with a double spiral clip also avoids this disadvantage.
Fit. 3a again shows the vertical dike-shaped film movement in six phases dissolved, L; ig.131- the 1) oil spiral disk lii # used for scanning. The height of the double spiral corresponds precisely to the height of a film frame (or film frame -i synchronous edge, see FIG. 4).
The movement of the disk is again, as shown in Fig. 3)), oriented such that the image points migrate in the descending direction when the film is moved in the ascending direction.
The disc 3u rotates all the way around twice when the film has advanced by an entire film frame, that is to say 3000 gates per minute with? 5 frame changes per second.
In Fig. 3a, for the sake of clarity, a scan is drawn in only six lines, and it can be seen therefrom that with constant arrangement of the spiral holes and with constant movement of the film and when the two adjoining pixel holes 90 and 91 of the two spirals of the Double spiral disk at the joint the same distance from the I) reliptinl; t of the disk. the desired in Fig. 1 scanning of the Fil mes finite the required line offset in X 90 lines comes about.
All that is needed is a darkening of the upper or lower spiral that runs synchronously with the pane by means of a circumferential screen or a slit seal.
The revolving aperture 04 only needs to make one full revolution per image change, so in the present case only 1500 tours per minute. It has the shape as shown in Fig. 3c and runs in the same dilehous sense as the Nipkow disk. Conveniently, inan connects rigidly coupled with on the same shaft. this spiral diaphragm a <RTI

To make the transmission easier, a stroboscopic method is also recommended, which for example consists of two series of glow lamps. One of which flashes in the circuit of the disk motor: 30M times per minute, the other in the circuit of the shutter motor flashes 150 (_) times per minute.
The in Fig. 3 specified second light guide with the concave mirror 20 and the light source 21, which is a square aperture ?? Illuminated via a condenser 23, is used to obtain the sync pulses according to the method of so-called additional lighting. It is from the aperture ?? through the mirror 20 and the lens 14 an image field of the same size as the film image 10 ′, but of a slightly smaller area than the division of the spiral disk 10.
designed on the pane and the brightness of this constant additional lighting is adjusted on the lamp? 1 by means of the heating resistor \? 4 so that when the lightless image edge overflows by 10 ', the loss of the auxiliary lighting causes an exposure jump in the direction of "black" from the desired and adjustable size is created.
In FIG. 4, the partial image field 10 of the spiral perforated disk is indicated again for clarification and one can see how the illuminated part 10 is kept somewhat smaller in both coordinates than this division. This creates a complete; Lightless edge <B> 2.5. </B>, when it is scanned, the synchronizing pulses are generated automatically and in the correct phase. will.

In practical operation, both batteries are expediently replaced by glow path stabilizers 30 ', 3?' replaced. The direct current component and the very low image frequencies are obtained on line 33. The overall gain of the high-pass filter 6 is set to be just as large as that of the low-pass filter 34. Nothing needs to be changed on these settings during transmission and the images are created with correct halftone values.
The operation of a receiver, for example a television tube 35, is then based on the following typical circuit: The hot cathode 36 must be connected to earth. The control grid 37 is connected as usual via a grid capacitor 38 to the alternating current line "8" and receives its local bias voltage via a work resistor 39 and a calming element 40, 41 from a bias battery 4 ". The line 33 of the low-pass amplifier 34 is then connected directly to the base point of the grid resistor 39.
A resistor 43 built into the low-pass amplifier and of the same size as 41 ensures that the local bias voltage is mixed with the sent bias voltage without any reaction. The base point of the transmitted bias voltage is set once and for all at the output potentiometer 31 in such a way that when the light behind the Nipkow disk 10 is completely darkened, the receiver tube is also completely darkened.
One can try to clarify the combination of high-pass and low-pass amplifiers described above by considering the transfer of certain schematic picture contents and will always find that such a combination is capable of all possible picture and .I ,. .
to transfer the information values correctly. Therefore, such an amplifier as shown in FIG. 5 also in a station according to FIG. 3 and FIG. 1 finite optical generation of the S \ Inelironis1 (1ritiil) iihe;
itiwetable. The reception of a transmission with scanning according to FIG. 1b also requires the production of such a line offset in the receiver in order to be able to correctly follow the movement of the scanning point on the transmitter side.
When receiving with optical decomposers, the displacement of the line groups against each other, in short the line offset that the transmitter requires, can be carried out with plane-parallel plates in the same way as in F i-. 3 has been shown with the plate 16 in the transmitter. Sch-, Vieriger is the implementation of the line offset when using the Braun tube as a receiver.
A fundamental solution to the problem of building up a bias voltage of approx. 1_oo of the maximum deflection voltage on the vertical deflection plates of the Braun tube and removing it during each image repetition is shown in FIG. 6 using a Thy ratrotis. The normal grid device is shown within the order border 44, namely as a counter clock device, as it is used in the high vacuum tubes of the Aitmelderin.
The special tube required for the line offset is denoted by 45 and is in a peculiar way with the raster device 44, as well as finite receiver 46 in connec tion. The anode of -15 is connected via a high-ohmic resistance 4 7 to a DC voltage line of <B> mainly </B>? 00 volts present in the receiver.
The control grid 45 is biased negatively via a series resistor 48 in such a way that when the anode voltage is? Uo volts, the pipe can still ignite. Just like the control grid of the tilting tube 49 in the grid g -er,

In hig. 9 the basic principle of the reception is explained again because it is important for the further explanations. An image area is shown with the border 68. The scanning has zli begin at the top most edge with the line 1 ', 3', 5 'etc. and goes to the line 179'. Then the same image area has to be scanned again from top to bottom, but with one line offset.
The scanning must therefore begin with the line '?'. then it follows 4 ', 6' etc. and the scan ends with line 180 '. which scans the bottom edge of the image area.
Fig. 10 shows the local time curve. which the cathode ray has to write on the receiving side to be able to perform a scanning according to the scheme of FIG. The curve 69 runs from the lines 1 'to <B> 179', </B> the curve 7 0 from the lines? ' until 18h '. Points 71 and 7 2 are ignition points of a ThZ ratron that generates the breakover vibrations. Points 73 and 74 are deletion points of the same.
If the tilting vibrations are produced in the known manner in that a tilting capacitor is parallel to the anode and cathode of a Tlivi-atron and is charged linearly to positive voltage via a large resistance, then a tilting curve as shown in FIG In order to be able to produce the ignition 71 uni one line period earlier e lipiinl, be given.

Second at?; L pictures per #second. Per 1 pulse 79, which is indicated by a dashed line, would lie exactly in the middle between 7 6 and 7 7. If it were used, a line offset would not be possible. The pulse 7 8 is therefore sent out instead of 79, which arrives at time z ", i.e. one line period too early.
This ensures that the thyratron is scanned in too early and therefore the ignition point 71 of FIG. 10 is just one line higher than the ignition point 7 =? or 75 of the second group.
The practical experience of the Aninelderin with the anisochronous ignition trigger has clearly shown that Thvratrons in the circuit according to FIG. 12 exactly match the curve of Fib. 10 deliver.
However, this is a condition. that in the discharge circuit of the tilt capacitor 80 in front of the anode of the Thvratrons 81 there is a delay resistor V83 of about 10 to: 30 ohms, without which it is not possible to produce reproducible, uniform discharges. The resistance 82 is expediently made so large that the discharge process is equal to or slightly greater than one line period.
This is the shape of the strobe pulses of FIG. To say the following: Since the starting point of the ignition must be more precisely defined as a line period, a pulse shape whose forehead runs so steeply is advisable. (Let the pulse maxiintini already be reached in 13 true parts of a line time.
F I ", -. 13 shows characters running one above the other in FIG. 13V1, which the line synchronization is to take care of.
Fig. 131) a sign which is supposed to take care of the image evaporation.
In order to be able to transfer and separate both groups of lines on the same wave and with the same amplitude, they must be given separate lines.
But if it is already impossible, for example through all-round use of full resistance, all capacitor circuits or even better. how fully the .1n- nielderin ready. has been rescheduled.
Using resonance transformers to separate characters from one another, if their duration differs only by 1: 1 (), it is already possible to use a character according to Fig. 131 for vertical synchronization, the total duration of which is not significantly greater than one line needs and whose forehead is equal to the forehead of the faster sign. that is, the line character of Fig. 13a.
.Only with due regard for the resistance 8? in Fig. 1? Delayed discharge speed on the receiver side, it is practically useful to extend the tail of the character 1311 longer than just one line period.
So to make the character three or four line periods long, because this character is supposed to take over the darkening of the return line of the receiver at the same time by signaling it to the Braun tube.
Fig. 14 shows how such characters can be generated in a simple manner using an IVipkow disk. A double spiral wedge is drawn again according to FIG. 3t. There are very specific holes in this disc made opaque. The image area is labeled 83. It is smaller than the pitch of the disc. A black stripe 84 complements it to its full size. The image part 83 is supplied with additional light by a special light source. The latter is omitted in black stripe 84.
Synchronous characters are therefore generated if and only if a pixel runs through the black border 84. because only then light is kept away from the photocell, but not when scanning the image area 83 due to the additional light daselbsl. The Lücher 91 'to 9.1', that is to say a duration of four line periods, are advantageously made non-transparent. Holes 1 'to?' and 3 ',

In method a, which has just been written, there is an inevitable relationship between the mechanical Sen and the cathode ray receiver and at the same time the two return lines are automatically darkened when the image is repeated twice by the transmitter.
The following method, h, works without an anisochronous pulse generator. It generates the required offset of the image tilting vibrations by adding an auxiliary synchronization, which is taken over by the line tilting part.
16 shows the creation of the vertical component by means of a tilting device (with tilting frequency 50) with the 1.1y ratron 81 and the delay resistor 82 and tilting capacitor 80, as well as charging resistor 89 and grid biasing resistor 90, with the grid receives isochronous pulses from the transmitter from 81 via a capacitor 91 from the line 92.
There are (read? 5 pulses with exactly the same shape and with exactly the same distance from one another. However, the grid thyratron 81 now receives a second group of pulses, which are derived from the line component of the receiver tilting device. The line tilting part 98 is also known from The transmitter is kept in step and is synchronized via a line 94 with 4500 short pulses .7.
In this way, line tilting vibrations arise on the vertical plates 95 and 96 of the Braunscheu tube 101. With the modern tilting devices it can be achieved that (nasty line tilting vibrations remain independent of the other processes in terms of shape and size and are only precisely synchronized in terms of frequency from the transmitter. The vibrations at 96 are therefore connected to a very defined voltage source
lays, -which over a differentiation halo- do ;; Your Bil (1 v (echseltliyi ', iti'on 131 can be mixed in. The differentiation circuit simply consists of a small 1'eutrodon capacitor 9 7 <B> (10 </B> cm) and a resistor 98, which is also low (1000 ohms).
At a partial tap of 98, adjustable pulses are therefore only obtained with each line change. If one now superimposes the line bursts coming from the line 99 and the image change bursts arriving at the transmitter via the line 92, it can easily be achieved that if both impulses are present at the same time, the ignition takes place one line period earlier than when one of them is interrupted, namely the transmitter-side pulse. By reversing the polarity of the line <B> 100 </B> from the terminal 95 to the terminal 96, it can easily be achieved that the lead becomes a delay.
This method of FIG. 16, which contains the differentiating circuit 97, 98 as the only complication compared to already existing tilting devices. is suitable for all finite cathode ray transmitting and receiving systems that are not equipped with mechanical dismantlers. For example, the tube 101 can also be an iconoscope.
If its scanning surface is provided with black borders, as was provided in FIG. 14 for a Nipkow disk, a transmission is automatically formed which already has the correct synchronization pulses for both components and with the correct offset. The image area of the iconoscope only needs to be illuminated in the manner shown in Fig. 17. For your black stripe 84, which is already shown in Fig. 1-1.
