Description

Method of joining the tubes of bicycle frames. The previously common and known methods for connecting the tubes of bicycle frames consist in that the tubes are either butt welded together or hard-soldered using sleeves.

Although welded frames are known to be just as durable and more elastic than brazed ones, the latter are preferred to others in Switzerland only because of their more solid appearance.

The present invention aims to provide a method according to which the frame tubes are connected while avoiding the use of sleeves in such a way that the finished connection has the form of a sleeve connection.

According to the invention, a sleeve is pushed onto the ends of the tubes forming the frame, on the one hand with the frame tube itself and on the other hand with the sleeve at the end of the frame tube to be connected to it by welding or brazing so that the finished connection is the Has the form of a socket connection. The sleeves also reinforce the pipe ends and facilitate the connection of the same ge compared to those with a simple wall.

The method according to the invention is explained in two examples with reference to the drawing.

1 and 2 show an unfinished and a finished connection on the handlebar stem; Fig. 3 shows a connection on the bottom bracket. In the first case, the sleeves C and D are pushed onto the ends of the frame tubes A and B . So that the sleeve C cannot move on the pipe A, the sleeve and pipe are connected to one another at point F by welding. In addition, who the tube B and the sleeve D at the point, E welded together and with the sleeve C at the same time.

In the second case, the sleeves g, L and M are connected to the tubes J, H and (1 as well as to each other by welding with the bottom bracket sleeve 0. In all cases, the sleeves can be shrunk onto the tube ends.

Instead of welding, a hard solution could also take place at the connection points.
