Transformer with choke coil for electric arc welding. For arc welding with alternating current, it is advisable to use an open circuit voltage of approx. 60 volts at currents of around 60 to 70 amps. For smaller currents, the most favorable no-load voltage is higher and for currents of around 15 Amp. 80 to 90 volts.
Welding devices have become known in which a transformer is assembled with a dro-sselspule and in which; the welding current can be regulated by taps on the choke coil or by varying an air gap in the iron body of the choke coil.
In order to obtain the no-load voltage suitable for the desired amperage, taps are seen on the transformer winding or can be switched over, e.g. B. from series to parallel. For the various welding work, the welding cables must be connected to the corresponding voltage terminals. In order not to complicate the transformers too much, one is usually content with two no-load voltages.
A solution has also become known in which the currents can be set by means of taps and the circuit is selected in such a way that the setting of the taps for smaller currents also results in a higher open circuit voltage. Despite the advantages achieved in this way, this device has the disadvantage that it requires many expensive taps and an expensive step switch and is nevertheless inferior to the stepless device in terms of current setting.
In the case of the arc welding transformer with a choke coil according to the present invention, these disadvantages are avoided. The choke coil has an iron body which forms a magnetic shunt with that of the transformer and has a continuously adjustable air gap located inside the choke winding.
This choke winding is connected in series with the secondary winding of the transformer in such a way that the magnetic F1uss flowing through the iron body of the choke coil when idling and dependent on the size of the adjustable air gap induces a voltage in the choke winding that turns into the secondary voltage ad dated.
The ratios can be selected in such a way that the setting for currents of around 100 to 120 Amp. Results in an open-circuit voltage of around 60 volts, but with settings that result in small currents, the open-circuit voltage is initially slow, but then faster and faster increases, with a hyper-similar character, and finally with the setting for the smallest iStrom of approx. 20 amp. a maximum no-load voltage of approx. 80 to 90 volts is reached.
Reconnecting the welding cable to terminals with a different voltage is therefore not necessary and incorrect handling is impossible.
The occurrence of strong scattering, which can result in large losses and heating in coils and especially in adjacent iron construction parts, is avoided by moving the variable air gap inside the inductor winding. It is possible to arrange the choke winding on the stationary core part, so that the power supply lines to the choke coil do not have to be made from flexible cables.
The following are Ausführungsbei games: the invention with reference to the accompanying drawings explained. In FIGS. 1 to 5, 1 is a Trane: transformer core, which is wound with the primary winding 4 and the secondary winding 5. The middle core 2 is not wound. The core 3 is movable, e.g. B. rotatable about an axis 6, and forms a magnetic shunt to the core 2. 7 is a choke winding.
This is attached to the yoke 1 ', so is not moved when the angled core 3 is moved.
When idling, a magnetic flux flows from core 1, which is distributed to cores 2 and 3 as indicated by arrows, in the opposite relationship to the magnetic resistances of the two paths. The secondary winding 5 is connected in series with the choke coil winding 7 in such a way that when idling, the magnetic flux flowing from the core 1 through the core 3 induces a voltage in the choke 7 that is directed in the same way as the secondary voltage of the winding 5 and thus closes this adds up.
The smaller the air gap 8, the greater the flow from column 1 when idling in column 3, and thus the greater the voltage induced in winding 7. The course of the voltage in winding 7 can be influenced by the shape of the two poles forming the air gap 8, as well as by changing the magnetic resistance of the column 2 and thus the flux component flowing through the column 2. When welding, the flow reverses its direction in column 3 and closes through core 2.
This must be dimensioned in such a way that it can absorb the sum of the magnetic fluxes from core 1 and core 3 during welding. The air gap can be reduced to zero for the weak welding currents.
Using FIG. 2, it should be explained how the desired open circuit voltages can be achieved at the terminals. As in Fig. 1, in Fig. 2 there is also 2 .the middle column, 3 the movable core and 8 the air gap. The air gap is bridged here by a small laminated core 9, namely for every width of the air gap. So you can z.
B. achieve that at idle with any large air gap 8 a magnetic shear flux from column 1 through 9 flows through column 3, which generates an additional voltage of, for example, 20% in the inductor winding 7. The number of turns of the coil 5 can be selected correspondingly smaller.
Of course, the sheet metal packet 9 also influences the possibility of regulating the welding current, but only to a limited extent if its dimensions are selected in such a way that: the iSteg is already highly saturated at 20% of the normal flow in 3. The material for bridging the air gap advantageously has a high magnetic conductivity and a very pronounced t-saturation limit, such as e.g. B. the so-called Permalloy.
In addition to the constant magnetic flux that flows in idle over the packet 9 through the core 3 for every size of the air gap 8, there is also the previously mentioned variable flux between the poles of the air gap B that increases as the air gap 8 becomes smaller The same purpose can of course also be achieved in other ways; z. B. Fig. 3 shows a further possibility of how such an approximately constant magnetic flux can be generated in conjunction with a variable one.
After this solution you can get by without a separate magnetic bridge 9. Here the upper yoke is formed with an extension 10 aws, through which a magnetic flux from the core 1, which remains approximately the same in all settings of the air gap, penetrates the core 3 when idling. Of course, the extension must also be dimensioned here so that the current regulation by means of the air gap 8 is not influenced too much.
In some cases it is advisable to provide an air gap in the unwound return circuit of the transformer in order to direct the transformer flow through the core of the inductor to a greater extent when idling. In Fig. 3, a further influencing of the magnetic flux in idle. The core 3 is indicated.
The upper yoke 1 'is rotatably arranged in such a way that when the movable core 3 swings out, the extension 10 of the yoke part 1' rotatable about axis 6 'is raised somewhat, so that the air gap 19 is enlarged. In this way it can be achieved that even if the core 3 vibrates to a greater extent, a sufficiently large part of the magnetic flux from 1 still makes its way over the core 3 in idle mode.
Means for preventing vibrations of the movable core 3 are shown in FIGS. 4, 7, 8 and 9. Fig. 7 shows the plan view of the lower yoke 1 ″, Fig. 8 shows its side elevation and Fig. 9 shows the side view of the movable core 3. As can be seen from this, the pins of one part engage in the grooves of the other, so that by means of of the Bolzeno 6 a stable, but rotation permitting connection is created.
A mechanically extremely solid construction is obtained if the movable core 3 is also guided and held at its upper end, as can be seen from FIG. In the fixed upper yoke 1 'or at the angle 22 magnetically conductive laminations 21 be fastened, which protrude like a pin and engage in appropriately located grooves 20 and 20' in the movable core 3 be.
In this way, not only is the movable core 3 also guided at its upper end, but also the magnetic bridging of the variable air gap, the mode of operation of which was explained in more detail with reference to FIG. 2, is realized in a simple and solid manner. The windings are also shown in FIG. 4a.
As a means for adjusting the movable iron core is used, as can be seen in Fig. 1, z. B. a screw spindle 12 with left and right-hand thread and screw nuts 13 and 13 '. To read the current strength corresponding to the setting, a scale 14 can be arranged on a drum, which is driven by a belt 15 from the drum 18 of said screw spindle.
The current intensity set in each case can be read through the viewing hole 16 attached to the housing 17.
If such a transformer is to be connected to a three-phase network, this can be done in a known manner using. a voltage divider. However, a -Scott circuit could also be selected, as shown in Fig. 5 and in the diagram of Fig. 6, where 4 and 4 'mean the primary windings for three-phase connection, 5 and .5' mean the secondary entanglements.
When idling, two magnetic flues, phase-shifted by 90, flow from the two cores 1 and 23, partly through the core 2, partly through the movable core 3. The resulting magnetic flux is generated in the core 3 Choke winding 7 has a voltage which is in phase with the transformer linked according to the diagram in FIG. 6 = secondary voltage.
1 and 5 is further indicated that the poles forming the air gap 8 can have different shapes in order to influence the magnetic flux circulating through the core 3 when the air gaps are of different sizes.
Furthermore, the bridging webs can be dimensioned such that they only bridge the gap in the case of small air gaps, but only protrude into the air gap in the case of larger openings.
It may also be added that the secondary winding 5, as. the inductor winding 7 can also be set up for different voltage ranges by means of taps.
