Additional headlights for fog and cornering lights on vehicles. The invention relates to an auxiliary headlight for fog and cornering lights on vehicles. Which can be attached to the vehicle in addition to the usual main headlights. The well-known headlights of this type design a lighting device that serves both as a fog light, with the main headlights turned off and only the two side marker lights (Stendlampen) burn, as is also used for the cure venlicht. with the two main headlights on.
However, the requirements for a headlamp suitable for heavy fog do not correspond to all points with the requirements for a headlamp designed for illuminating curves. Because in fog, the emitted clusters of light should be tilted sharply downwards, as otherwise it does not promote the driver's view, but rather disturbs it.
On the other hand, a bend headlight should illuminate the bends at a certain height. so that walls, embankments and the like can be easily recognized. With the previous auxiliary headlights for fog and cornering lighting, either the requirement for good fog lights or good cornering lighting was neglected.
According to the invention, this disadvantage is avoided in that the additional headlights can be set arbitrarily from the driver's seat to various far-reaching lights on the driveway, for the purpose of lighting.
the route with a shorter range for switching on in heavy fog and lighting with a longer range for switching on in light fog and for lighting curves.
This makes it possible to obtain lighting that is particularly suitable for the respective driving circumstances. You can also train the additional headlights for a third additional lighting to. z. B, to create remote lighting that supports the main headlights when driving fast.
In the drawing, two Ausfüh approximately examples: the subject matter of the invention is shown schematically, namely Figs. 1 to 4 relate to the first Ausfüh approximately example, and Figs. 5 to 7 to the second embodiment. It shows:
Fig. 1 the setting of the first example in light fog and for cornering lighting, Fig. 2 in heavy fog, Fig. 3 to support the Fernlich tes, and Fig. 4 to support the low beam, Fig. 5 the setting of the second In the case of light fog and lighting for curves, Fig. 6 in heavy fog, Fig. 7 to support the Fernlich tes, and Fig. 8 to support the low beam.
The illustrated in Figs. 1 to 4 to set headlights has a tiltable hollow mirror. which is composed of an upper and a lower half, which are arranged in such a way that their focal points on the axis common to both halves are offset from one another. 1 is the focal point of the upper half 2 and 3 the focal point of the lower half 4. The light source is once (Fig. 1 and 3) in the focal point 3 of the lower half 4 and the other time (Fig. 2 and 4) between at the foci 1 and 3. You can z.
B. use a lamp with two filaments switched on arbitrarily from the driver's seat, which is inserted into the concave mirror so that one filament is in focus 3 and the other filament is between foci 1 and 3.
The concave mirror is arranged in the headlamp housing in such a way that it can assume two different positions in relation to the roadway, namely the headlight can be arranged on the vehicle in such a way that the common axis of both concave mirror shells inclines in one position to the roadway (Fig. 1 and 2) and in the other position parallel to the roadway (Fig. 3 and 4). Here 5 is the axis of rotation of the concave mirror.
The desired setting of the concave mirror can be acted from the driver's seat, for. B. with the help of an electromagnet 6. In its rest position, the concave mirror assumes the inclined position under the influence of a spring 7 (FIGS. 1 and 2) and when the electromagnet 6 is excited, the concave mirror is set against the force of the spring 7 such that its axis is directed parallel to the roadway (Figs. 3 and 4).
In the one shown in FIG. 1 position, the filament in focus 3 be lit. The lower half of the concave mirror produces a light beam parallel to the axis of the concave mirror and the upper half of the concave mirror 2 produces a light bundle directed obliquely to the optical axis downwards with scattering on both sides of the road.
Since the axis of the concave mirror is also inclined downwards, lighting is achieved that has a shorter range and greater lateral spread than: the usual low beam and therefore for driving in weak conditions. Fog and corner lighting is well suited.
In the position shown in FIG. 2 development of the incandescent filament located between the two focal points 1 and 3 lights up. Both halves of the concave mirror create a light bundle directed downwards at an angle to the optical axis and scattered on both sides of the road.
Since the axis of the concave mirror is also inclined downwards, lighting is achieved which has an even shorter range than in the position according to FIG. 1 and is therefore used for driving in heavy fog.
In the state according to FIG. 3, the same light source as in FIG. 1 is switched on, but the concave mirror is parallel to the roadway. As a result, the lower half 2 of the concave mirror generates a high beam and the upper half 1 designs a weakly downward light bundle with lateral scattering. This lighting is therefore advantageous to support the high beam supplied by the two main headlights.
In the state according to FIG. 4, the concave mirror is also perpendicular to the driving path and the light source is switched on, as in FIG. As a result, downward lighting with good lateral scattering is achieved, which has a range that is about as large as the usual low beam and is therefore suitable for supporting the same.
You can therefore achieve four different lighting systems with one and the same auxiliary headlight, depending on which filament is switched on and depending on whether the position of the concave mirror is such that its axis is inclined vertically or downwards.
It is irrelevant whether the light source in FIGS. 1 and 3 is arranged in the focal point of the upper or lower mirror half. If it is found, deviating from the drawing, at the focal point 1 of the upper half of the mirror, the upper half of the mirror generates the parallel light beam and the lower half of the mirror produces the light beam directed near the bottom with lateral scattering.
Instead of a two-filament lamp, a lamp with a single filament can also be used and this, for. B. denzuges with the help of an electromagnet or a Bow, so move from the driver's seat that see the filament once in the focal point 3 (or 1) and the other time between tween the two focal points 1 and 3, be found. The concave mirror can instead be electro-magnetically brought in other ways from the Füh rersitz into its two usage positions, eg. B. by Bowden cable or by a device operated by the negative pressure in the intake pipe of the engine. Instead of tilting the concave mirror in the headlight housing, you can tilt the entire headlight.
The axis around which the concave mirror is tilted when tilting must be. do not lie exactly horizontally, but can be inclined by a small amount to one side of the lane, so that the transmitted light is inclined and swiveled to the side of the half of the lane used by the driver, i.e. in countries with right-hand driving to the right-hand side and in Countries driving left to the left.
The headlight shown in FIGS. 5 to 8 has a concave mirror which can also be tilted by an electromagnet 6 and which is designed as a conventional parabolic mirror. In the same there is a usual Liche lamp with a single filament over which a cylindrical glass body 8 pushed ge; can be.
With the help of an on and off switchable elec tromagnetes 9 from the driver's seat, the glass body 8 can once be brought out of the area and the other time in the area of the rays falling from the lamp on the hollow mirror. The glass body 8 is z. B. formed with the help of ribs and prisms in such a way that the light reflected by the concave mirror shine downwards and are scattered on both sides of the roadway.
Fig. 5 shows the position in which the concave mirror is directed parallel to the roadway GE and the glass body 8 is pushed over the lamp. This arrangement produces a light bundle directed downwards and scattered on both sides of the roadway, which is intended for cornering lighting and lighting in the case of weak fog.
In the stel development shown in FIG. 6, the glass body has the same position as in FIG. 5. However, the concave mirror is inclined by the return spring 7 downward ge. The lighting achieved is used for driving in heavy fog.
Fig. 7 shows the position in which the concave mirror is directed parallel to the roadway and the glass body 8 is retracted behind the concave mirror. The headlight generates high beam and can be used to support the high beam.
In the position shown in FIG. 8, the concave mirror is inclined by the electric magnet 6 to the roadway and the glass body 8 is pulled back behind the concave mirror. An inclined lighting is designed that can be used to support the low beam light.
As from the Fit'-. 6 shows, the concave mirror of the additional headlight is inclined for the purpose of lighting with a shorter range in heavy fog.
It is not necessary to train the additional headlights so that all four types of lighting listed can be kept with it. The advantages of the subject matter of the invention are already achieved when two illuminations of different ranges can be achieved once for heavy fog and the other time for light fog, as well as curve lighting.
If you want to continue to use the additional headlight, it will generally suffice to use only one other possible use, in that the third additional lighting supports either the high beam or the low beam, as desired.
