Description
Process for the production of metallic coatings on metal bodies. The present invention relates to a method for producing metallic coatings on metal bodies, in which a layer of steel is sprayed onto the metal body. Any one of the known methods can be used in which the metal to be sprayed-on is melted, atomized and sprayed onto the surface that is to be protected by a coating in atomized condition.
The method can be used, for example, to make bowls, troughs, etc. made of gray cast iron. To be provided with a stainless steel layer for holding meat, for example in meat cutting machines, in cutters etc. The bowl always retains its good appearance.
Steel, preferably stainless steel, can also be sprayed onto an intermediate layer that has been applied to the metal body beforehand in order to achieve particularly good adhesion of the protective coating. The process can also be used for circular saw blades and for planing shafts of woodworking machines, namely to apply a protective layer over a lead coating, which has been applied to the known gripping saw disk or to the planer knife shaft, for the purpose of reducing the noise of the saws and the planer knife shafts.
This lead layer can be attached in a known manner on the saw blade or on the shaft by rolling, screwing, riveting, etc. In machine tools with reciprocating masses, for example planing machines, it is advantageous to use the table; which serves to hold the workpiece, made of light metal. This light metal, however, has the disadvantage that it is not very resistant to mechanical damage.
According to the present invention, such a table, at least its work surface, can be provided with a coating made of steel, expediently made of stainless steel. Steel coatings can also be used on other machine tools to protect the working surfaces against wear and tear, etc.
