Process for generating air foam, in particular for fire-fighting purposes. The invention relates to a method for generating air foam, in particular for fire extinguishing purposes, using a pressure fluid.
It is already known to generate air foam for fire extinguishing purposes by injecting a pressure liquid into a jet pipe in two or more jets or in a thin band or in the form of a mist, the atomized liquid sucking air from the atmosphere. All these known methods have in common that the pressure fluid jet is resolved into several individual jets, which is achieved, for example, in that a ring line leads around the jet pipe, from which the pressure fluid flows through special openings or nozzles into the interior of the jet pipe occurs. The processes mentioned all consist in the dissolution of the central pressurized water jet.
It is only through this dissolution that the intimate mixture with air necessary for foam generation is possible. This dissolution of the central water jet brings considerable pressure losses with it, which, since only the usual hydrant pressure is generally available, are quite undesirable.
According to the invention, the pressure liquid jet is given a rotation about its axis before the air enters, for example by means of guide or swirl surfaces. This rotation of the liquid jet causes a strong atomization of the jet, so that more intimate mixing with air is now possible. This intimate mixture is achieved without it being necessary to distribute the jet to a large extent by special ring lines or the like.
The invention offers a simple way of using a central jet of pressurized water without splitting and without diversion and thus without pressure loss for foam generation.
It proves to be particularly advantageous to use the highly dusting liquid jet as a result of the rotation to suck in the air necessary for foam generation. Due to the strong scattering, the suction effect is considerably stronger than when using a water jet pump working with a smooth jet, and on the other hand the combination of a single jet brought about according to the invention compared to the known methods brings about a considerable increase in suction power.
It is known per se from other fields of technology that a strong atomization of an outlet water jet can be achieved if it is given a rotation before the outlet. This known method has also been used for intimate mixing of two different substances. According to the present invention, air foam is generated in this way. The technical progress achieved here was shown above.
The drawing illustrates three example embodiments of the invention in longitudinal section.
Fig. 1 shows a device in which the pressure fluid to be processed contains the foaming agent already added; Fig. 2 shows an embodiment in which the pressurized water foaming agent solution is supplied, under control of the amount supplied by a tap., And Fig. 3 illustrates an embodiment with control of the foam agent supply by adjusting the catch nozzle.
In all of the illustrated embodiments, a is the feed line for the pressurized water which can be connected to a pressurized water or other pressurized fluid source by means of a coupling or the like and ends in a nozzle b. Swirl surfaces c are switched into line a, which cause a rapid rotation of the jet o emerging from nozzle b when water passes through.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, this jet passes directly into the foam conduit pipe i and sucks in large quantities of air through inlet openings k provided in the connection of the pipe to the pipe a. Instead of the openings k, there could also be an annular gap.
In the embodiments according to FIGS. Z and 3, foaming agent solution is sucked in by the pressurized water jet. For this purpose, between the jet nozzle b BEZW. bi and the air inlet k a collecting nozzle d, respectively. arranged dl, so that a Saugkam mer e arises, to which a supply line. T for the foaming agent is connected.
For the purpose of regulating the amount of foaming agent to be supplied, the embodiment according to FIG. 2, in which the distance between the nozzles <I> b </I> and <I> d </I> remains essentially constant, if it can also be regulated if necessary can, in the foaming agent supply line; a regulating valve g installed, which is shown in the drawing in a partially throttled position.
According to FIG. 3, the amount of foaming agent sucked in is changed, however, in that the collecting nozzle d 'is movably arranged. The collecting nozzle is firmly connected to the foam line pipe i and its body is provided with an internal thread n, which is seated on a corresponding external thread of the pipe a. In this way, by turning the pipe <I> i </I> (or the pipe <I> a) </I>, the distance between the nozzles bi and d 'and thus the amount of foaming agent sucked in can be changed.
If the collecting nozzle is completely screwed down onto the jet nozzle, the foaming agent solution will stop being sucked in, so that only liquid can be sprayed.
The regulation of the distance between the jet and the collecting nozzle from the outside can of course also be effected in any other way than that described.
Comes out of the nozzle b respectively. bi a. Pressurized water jet creates a suction effect in space e, which causes the foaming agent to be sucked in. The foaming agent then occurs through the annular channel h into the nozzle d respectively. d 'and mixes with the one from the nozzle b respectively. b 'escaping hydraulic fluid. The pressurized water jet mixed with the foaming agent emerges from the collecting nozzle and enters the foam pipe i. The guide surfaces c in the conical part of the jet nozzle cause the jet to rotate about its axis.
The consequence of this is that the relatively wide foam line pipe i completely with a disassembled respectively. is filled with a spray jet. This causes a strong suction of air. The air enters the foam conduit pipe i from the outside through a plurality of breakthrough points k. These breakthrough points are formed in that the pipe a over the catching nozzle body d (FIG. 2) or over the catching nozzle body <I> d '</I> (FIG. 3) through the side of the pipe <I> i </I> standing ribs p with the .Schaumleitungs pipe i is connected.
The spaces between the ribs form the passage points for the air. The ribs themselves have a certain overhang, on the one hand to connect the two main parts of the device with sufficient strength and on the other hand to prevent the air inlet openings k from being inadvertently closed by hovering over them by hand. Catching nozzle and jet nozzle are located in the devices according to FIG. 2 and 3, seen in the direction of the jet, in front of the air inlet point.
The foam concentrate feed pipe f can be easily releasably connected to the pipe a, for example by means of a small lintel coupling. This is in the event that the person carrying out the fire, who carries a container containing the foaming agent solution and connected to the pipe f by a hose on his back, has to abandon the device in front of the fire. In this case, he can easily loosen the connection of the pipe f with the pipe a and bring himself to safety.
In order to achieve a thorough mixture of the constituents forming the foam, in the foam line pipe i according to FIG. 2 baffles l arranged, which have the shape of Ge rings whose diameter tapers in the flow direction of the Gemi cal. These guide surfaces have the effect that the pressurized water, which has a certain tendency to run along the walls of the foam conduit pipe i, is deflected one or more times towards the center of the pipe, thereby achieving a more thorough mixture.
According to Fig. 3, the guide surfaces l are located on rings inwardly ge directed teeth. This formation of the guide surfaces has proven particularly effective.
It does not matter for the essence of the invention in which way a rotation of the exiting jet of pressurized water is brought about. This rotation can be brought about by guide surfaces in the water supply line or by any other guide devices, such as helical grooves. The number of guide surfaces or swirl bodies is arbitrary.
The rotation of the exiting water jet could also be brought about by bodies circulating within the path of the pressurized water, which keep their drive ent neither by the pressurized water flowing through or from the outside by an external force.
