einzusetzen (Mengenverhältnis Natrium- trichloracetat : Mononatriumdihydrogenphosphat = 1:0,5 bis <B><I>0,05).</I></B>
B. in Colour Index, 3. Aufl.
Selbst in stark al kalischen, d. h.
In neutralen Klotzflotten bzw.

The present invention relates to a process for improving the fastness properties of dyeings produced with substantive dyes on cellulose fiber materials, characterized in that the fiber material is treated with a quaternary N- (2,3-epoxyalkyl) ammonium compound of the formula
EMI0001.0006
in which Y stands for a sulfur atom, a CH, group, a simple C-C bond or in particular an oxygen atom, R, for a C, -C4-alkyl group,
a C2-C4 alkyl group substituted by an OH group or preferably the methyl group, R2 for hydrogen or methyl, X "(-) for an anion and n for 1, 2 or 3, in the presence of an alkaline compound before, while or treated after dyeing.
For R, in the formula I, the methyl, ethyl, n- and i-propyl and n- and sec-butyl groups, as C2-C4 substituted by an OH group, are, for example, the C 1 -C 4 -alkyl group -Alkyl group called the 2-hydroxyethyl and especially the 2-hydroxypropyl group.
The anions X ″ (-) are both anions of inorganic acids, for example the chloride, bromide, sulfate or phosphate ion, as well as organic acids, e.g.
B. aromatic or lower aliphatic sulfonic acids, such as benzenesulfonate, p-toluenesulfonate, methanesulfonate or ethanesulfonate ions, and also the anions of acidic alkyl esters of inorganic acids, such as methosulfate and ethosulfate ions, are considered .
Representatives of the compounds of formula 1 include, for example: N-methyl-N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) morpholinium chloride, N-ethyl-N- (2,3-epoxy-2-methylpropyl) - thiamorpholinium chloride, N-butyl-N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) -piperidinium bromide, N-methyl-N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) -pyrrolidinium chloride, N-methyl-N- (2,3 -epoxypropyl) -morpholinium-p-toluene-sulphonate, N- (2-hydroxyethyl) -N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) -morpholinium- chloride, N-methyl-N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) -morpholinium- methosulfate, N-ethyl-N- (2,
3-epoxy-2-methyl-propyl) morpholinium ethosulphate.
The compounds of the formula I can be prepared by various processes known per se (see, for example, Houben-Weyl, Methods of Organic Chemistry, Volume XI / 2, p. 611, 4th edition 1958; FR-PS <B > 1 </B> 450 083, DOS 2 056 002, US-PS 3 737 406).
The compounds of the formula I to be used according to the invention are preferably prepared by quaternizing tertiary amines of the formula
EMI0001.0061
in which Y and R, which have the meaning given under formula I, with epoxy compounds of the formula
EMI0001.0063
in which R2 has the meaning given under formula I and Hal stands for a halogen atom, preferably a chlorine or bromine atom.
The compounds of the formula I to be used according to the invention can be applied either by pretreating the materials to be colored, simultaneously with the dyes, or by post-treating the colored cellulose materials.
The cellulose materials pretreated with the fixing agents of the formula I can then be colored from a long or short liquor. Pretreatment and post-treatment are expediently carried out in such a way that the undyed or dyed cellulose fiber materials are padded or printed with aqueous liquors containing the compounds of the formula I, advantageously in an amount of 10 to 100 g, preferably 20 to 60 g , paste per liter of padding liquor or pressure, and the Al kali required for fixing on the fibers, z.
B. sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate or preferably sodium hydroxide solution, and, optionally after drying, subjected to a heat treatment in a 5- to 10-minute steaming at 103 to <B> 115'C </B> or preferably in a short, Treatment with dry heat (thermosetting) at 140 to 150 C for about 2 minutes.
The fixation can also be carried out according to the cold dwell or hot dwell process, in that the padded or printed fiber material is rolled up for 16 to 24 hours at room temperature or for 4 to 8 hours at 70 to 90 'C </B> kept.
With simultaneous application of fixative and dye, this can be done by the cold pad, pad-roll, pad-steaming, thermosetting or thermosoling process or by the processes customary in textile printing. The fixing agents of the formula 1 are advantageously used in the padding liquor or printing paste in quantities of 10 to 100 g, preferably 20 to 60 g, per liter of liquor or printing paste.
When dyeing by the thermosetting or thermosoling process, it has proven advantageous to use sodium trichloroacetate as an alkaline compound instead of the alkalis (sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate) usually used in the liquors and printing pastes, preferably together with a buffering compound , such as monosodium dihydrogen phosphate,
to be used (ratio of sodium trichloroacetate: monosodium dihydrogen phosphate = 1: 0.5 to <B><I>0.05) .</I> </B>
The joint use of the fixing agents of the formula I and sodium trichloroacetate as an alkaline agent enables a simplified process for dyeing mixtures of polyester and cellulose fibers with substantive and dispersion dyes. It is known that fixing agents based on epoxy are made from alkaline, d. H. Sodium carbonate or sodium hydroxide containing padding liquor is applied.
When dyeing with mixtures of substantive and disperse dyes, these alkalis reduce the stability of the padding liquors containing the disperse dyes and also lead to browning of the substrate under the thermosoling conditions.
However, if the fixatives of the formula I are applied from liquors which contain sodium trichloroacetate as an alkaline agent and advantageously also monosodium dihydrogen phosphate, these disadvantages are avoided and it is possible to use such fiber mixtures in a one-step process with direct and dispersing to dye sion dyes. This process is characterized by its high economic efficiency and provides dyeings with excellent fastness properties.
With the aid of the fixing agents of the formula <B> 1 </B> described, an excellent improvement in the fastness properties, in particular the wet fastness properties, of dyeings produced with substantive dyes on cellulose materials is achieved in addition to a substantial deepening of the color.
The cellulose fiber materials are materials made of natural cellulose, such as cotton and linen, or regenerated cellulose, such as rayon and rayon. Substantive dyes are understood as meaning the customary direct dyes such as are used, for example, in B. in Color Index, 3rd ed. (1971), Vol. 2, on pages 2005 to 2478 are summarized.
Compared to the known fixing agents for substantive dyes on cellulose fiber materials, the fixing agents described have the following advantages: As a result of the high stability of the fixing agents, the alkaline padding liquors and printing pastes containing them have a significantly improved storage stability. Even in strongly alkaline, i.e. H. Padding liquors and printing pastes containing sodium hydroxide retain their full effectiveness for at least 24 hours.
When using sodium bicarbonate and especially sodium trichloroacetate as alkaline reagents, the effectiveness even remains undiminished over several days. For use in dyeing, but especially in printing, this means considerable progress.
In neutral padding liquors or printing pastes, the fixing agents described have such a high stability that the liquors and printing pastes of this type can be stored for longer than 1 week at room temperature without the effectiveness of the fixing agent decreasing.
The fixatives of formula 1 allow the use of shorter condensation times and lower condensation temperatures. When using the fixing agents described, a condensation time of 2 minutes at 140.degree. C. is sufficient to achieve optimal fastness properties for dyeings in the standard depth.
A process is known from US Pat. No. 2,131,120 in which, according to Example 5, cellulose is first swollen with sodium hydroxide solution, then treated with morpholidopropene oxide and colored with an acid dye.
When cellulose fiber materials are treated with said morpholidopiope oxide before, during or after dyeing with direct dyes, dyeings with lower wet fastness properties are obtained than when using the next comparable N-methyl-morpholinium propene oxide according to the invention. In the treatment with the non-quaternized product before or during dyeing, poorer fixing yields of the dye are also achieved.
From US-PS 2,255,252 the use of ammonium compounds, which are substituted on the nitrogen by an acyclated or etherified glycol residue, as textile treatment agents, u. a. of cellulose, and known as a dyeing aid. If the epoxide is replaced in the process according to the invention by a next comparable compound from US Pat. No. 2,255,252, e.g.
For example, by using compound (6) or (9), dyeings with poorer wet fastness properties or poorer fixation yields are obtained, as stated above with reference to US Pat. No. 2,131,120.
The fixing agents of the formula I can be applied simultaneously with anti-crease agents of the dimethylolethylene urea-triazine resin type. This makes it possible to improve authenticity and crease-proof finishing in one work step.
Because of their excellent fixing effect, it is possible to dispense with the boiling soaps of the dyed cellulose materials that are otherwise required to achieve good fastness properties. Very good fastness properties are achieved simply by rinsing with hot water.
The five-digit color index numbers given in the following examples relate to the information in Color Index, 3rd edition (1971), vol. 4; the other dyes used are described in Color Index, 3rd ed. (197l), Vol. 2.
Example 1 A cotton fabric dyed to the standard depth using the direct dye CI Direct Blue 244 is padded at room temperature with an aqueous liquor containing 60 g of N-methyl-N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) -morpholinium chloride and 10 g sodium hydroxide solution <B> 38 '</B> Be, and squeezed off to a weight increase of 80%. After drying at 100 ° C., the fabric is heat-set for 2 minutes at 140 ° C. and then washed for 10 minutes with water at room temperature.
A uniform blue coloration is obtained with a very good color yield, which is characterized by very good boil wash fastness (determination according to DIN 54011 gives rating: 5, obtained by evaluating the bleeding of accompanying tissue).
A good improvement in the wet fastness properties was also achieved if the same amount of N-methyl-N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) -thiamorpholinium chloride, N-methyl-N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) - was used instead of the fixative used. piperidinium chloride or N-methyl-N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) pyrrolidinium methosulfate was used.
The N-methyl-N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) -morpholine chloride used was prepared, for example, as follows: In a 10-1 three-necked flask equipped with an internal thermometer, stirrer, dropping funnel, condenser and drying tube, 8325 g (90 Mol) epichlorohydrin heated to 50 C and then at this temperature with vigorous stirring and exclusion of humidity within 1 hour with 1822 g (18 mol) of N-methylmorpholine continuously ver.
The reaction mixture is then stirred vigorously for a further 24 hours under the same conditions, the reaction product starting to crystallize out already about 1 hour after the addition of N-methyl-morpholine has ended.
After cooling to room temperature and standing overnight, the reaction product is filtered off with suction, washed several times thoroughly with ethyl acetate and finally dried at 50 ° C. / finally 13 Torr in a vacuum drying cabinet. Yield: 3310 g of N-methyl-N- (2,3-epoxypropyl) -morpholinium chloride (95% of theory); gray-white hygroscopic salt; Fp .: 160 to 161'C (dec.); C8H, 6C1NOZ (MW 193.5); calculated: 18.33% Cl; found: 18.20% Cl.
