Description
Device to avoid round fire in DC commutator machines with higher voltages. The increasing electrification of rail networks with higher voltage direct current places ever greater demands on the small machine designer. For example, auxiliary drives must be built on electric vehicles to drive fans, compressors and the like Moto ren for voltages of 1500 V and an output of about 5 kW.
In order to ensure that the rotor winding elements can be easily exchanged and that the winding overhangs are small, such machines must be built with four poles. The two-pole design, which initially appeared to be cheaper, has not proven itself in practice. Since the commutator diameter also becomes small with low powers, this results in small brush pin distances and high lamellar tensions. Both increase the risk of round fire.
According to the invention, this risk can be significantly reduced by arranging the brushes in two planes perpendicular to the machine axis, separated by an insulating wall, only brushes of the same polarity being present in one and the same plane perpendicular to the machine axis.
An embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown in the drawing .sche matically, where 1 and 2 are each a pair of brushes lying in two planes perpendicular to the Masohinenachse with brushes each having the same polarity. These are separated from one another by an insulating wall 3. Fig. 1 shows the insulating wall 3 in cross section, Fig. 2 shows it from the front. The brush pins are attached to it in such a way that only parts of the same polarity are on the same side of the insulating wall.
The insulating wall 3 is attached to the stationary machine part. 4 is the collector on which the Bürstenanord voltage corresponding grooves 5 are attached, which can be filled with an electrically poor conduct the material. The gap between the collector and the insulating wall 9 is made so small that creeping through the gap is prevented even when the hazardous conditions for round fire or. Flashover can occur to a greater extent, as often occurs in shunt motors or series motors with speed control through field weakening.
The specified device can also be used in conjunction with other known measures to prevent round fire and the like.
