Description

Pedal crank bearings for bicycles. The present invention relates to a pedal crank bearing for bicycles, which is to be characterized by easier gear and especially by higher load capacity than the known cone bearings and ball bearings.

According to the invention, the pedal crank bearing has at least one roller bearing. In order to be able to absorb larger axial loads, the running surfaces for the rollers are advantageously conical.

In the drawing, an example embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the axial section.

In the bottom bracket sleeve 1 of the bicycle frame, the crank axle 4 is mounted by means of the roller bearings 2, 3. The rollers run obliquely to the crank axle. By screwing up on the end faces of the sleeve 1 shells 5, 6, the rollers are bearings 2, 3 protected from dust. The race rings 2 ', 2 "of the roller bearing 2, and the races 3', 3" of the roller bearing 3 have conical running surfaces. While the running ring 3 'of the roller bearing 3 is firmly seated on the axis 4, the inner running ring 2' of the roller bearing 2 is adjustably supported by means of a thread 7 on the axis 4.

This makes it possible to re-tension the roller bearings 2, 3 from time to time. The position of the running ring 2 'is secured by the lock nut 8 ge.

In cases where the pedal crank bearing is not subjected to high loads, the races 2 ', 2 "and 3', 3" can also have cylindrical running surfaces. In this case the roller bearings cannot be re-tensioned and the rollers are arranged parallel to the crank axle 4. .
