Power transmitting mechanism. The present invention relates to a power transmitting mechanism according to the claim of the main patent, in which the bringing into play, by the control shaft, of a transmission element with satellite wheels, reverses the direction of rotation. of the receiving shaft, said planet wheels constantly meshing with a wheel which can be connected to the driving shaft and at least temporarily with a member constantly connected to the receiving shaft. This mechanism is characterized in that the organ connected to the receiving shaft is mounted on said shaft,
in such a way as to be able to slide axially and to be integral with it for the rotation and has a toothing adapted to the entrainment with the aforesaid planet wheels, and in that the means, in one of its positions extremities along the shaft make the said member integral with the wheel connectable to the drive shaft, the control shaft putting the planet transmission element into action by bringing this member into its other extreme position. The accompanying drawings show, by way of examples, two embodiments of the mechanism according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial axial section of the first form and FIG. 2 is a section along II-II of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a partial axial cut of the second form.
In fig. 1 shows the end of a housing 1 -containing a power transmitting mechanism. Of which only a part is shown. This end of the housing 1 carries a cardan shaft 2 supported by a ball bearing 3. A shaft 4 of the same axis as the cardan shaft 2 and that of the wheels of the transmitting mechanism serves to guide .des di towards mobile elements -du mechanism.
This latter comprises a wheel 5 with an externally toothed barrel 5a, free on the shaft 4, a crown 6 with internal teeth 6 ,, and with external teeth 61, </ B> mounted on a plate 14, a crown with internal teeth % integral with a wheel 7 and meshing with the teeth 6b. These three moving parts represent the last transmission element - of a transmitting mechanism with internal teeth as described in the main patent.
The wheel 7 always turns in the same direction and is integral with a toothing 7b cooperating with the organs described below and determining the inversion of the transmitted movement: A plate 8 carries satellites 9 which mesh, d 'a part; with the toothing 7b and, on the other hand, with a toothing 10 ,, integral with a plate 10 with a barrel guided in an annular groove 2b of the gimbal 2. The plate 8 has a crown of claws 8., intended for cooperate with a .couronne .de claws 1a, integral with the housing 1. For this, the disc 8 can slide on the pinion 71, and the plate 10 can slide in the groove 2b.
This says that 10 present., In addition two crowns: of teeth with claws 10b and 10, # and the wheel 7 has a crown of claws 7 ,,, -in which the crown 10b is ordinarily engaged. The crown 10 is engaged on a crown of claws 2. provided on the outside of a barrel of the gimbal 2, claws whose -di mension parallel to the axis is the -double .of that -of the claws 10., so that these two claw rings 2a, and 10, remain in constant engagement during the sliding of the plate 10.
Likewise, the toothing 7b. has a dimension parallel to the axis large enough so that the satellites 9 also mesh with it constantly. The control shaft 11 carries various cairies, not shown, which determine the ratio of the speeds of the motor shaft to the pinion 7b, which invariably turns in the same direction for a given direction of rotation @ of the motor and a -came 12 which acts on the plate 10 by cooperating with the loiter of a groove 1.3 e this plate.
The operation of this mechanism is as follows: In the position shown, the satellites 9 do not rotate on themselves, -because the plate 10 is driven directly at the speed of the .denture 7b by means of the .dentures 7, and 10b and its movement is transmitted there ar ber 2 by claws 2a, and 10, If therefore the wheel 7 is the last mobile of a reduction train at several speeds, it directly transmits these shaft speeds 2. However, the smallest of these speeds may be too large to be suitable for reverse when the motion is reversed.
The role of the satellites 9 and of the crown 10 ;, is to reduce the speed from the wheel 7 when the direction of movement transmitted from the wheel 7 to the shaft 2 is reversed by putting said satellites in action.
For this, the shaft 11 is acted on the cam 12, so that the latter, by virtue of its helical shape, pushes the plate 10 to the left, which has the effect of releasing the teeth 10b of the toothing 7, by bringing it into -l'intervalle - between the teeth 7b and the claws 7 ,. At the same time, the toothing 8a comes to a standstill in the claws 1a, so that the satellites start to rotate by driving in the opposite direction the plate 10 which has continued to engage with the shaft 2 by the claws 10, coming on the left of the claws% ,.
It can thus be seen that at each speed of the wheel 7 -corresponds to a speed of the movement -of rotation in the opposite direction of the gimbal 2 and that this speed is in all cases the same fraction of the speed of the wheel 7, the wheels satellites having a reducing effect. The plate 10 is brought back to the right during reverse actuation of the cam by means not shown, which can be either an elastic return member or a connection by circular groove.
It is understood that the teeth with claws 7, and 10b could be replaced by friction clutch surfaces and that the immobilization of the plate 8 could be done by a brake controlled by the shaft 11 at the instant oh the plate 10 is released from the wheel @ 7 or leaves any known clutch means. Clutch synchronizing devices could also intervene.
In the mechanism of fig. 3, the plate carrying the satellites is integral with the casing. The plate 10 is represented therein in the reverse gear position; the toothing 10 ,, meshes with the satellite 9 and the claws 10b are dis- - secured from the claws 7 ,. In the other position, the toothing 10a exits .du satellite which then turns empty.
