Process for the production of colored aluminum objects. The process for producing colored aluminum objects is characterized in that water-repellent substances are applied to surface-oxidized aluminum objects in patterns and the areas that have remained free are colored with water-soluble dyes. Use is made here of the observation that those areas of surface-oxidized aluminum that are impregnated with fatty substances no longer stain in the aqueous solutions of the dyes.
The invention enables the production of brightly patterned aluminum objects, because the fat substances themselves can not only be colorless, but also colored with suitable color substances. Telat matrices can be used to apply colorless or colored greasy substances to the surface-oxidized aluminum and then to color the unimpregnated areas in an aqueous bath of organic dyes. The melting points of the fatty substances are expediently chosen so that they do not melt in the subsequent aqueous bath of the organic dye when the chosen dye requires a high temperature of the aqueous liquor to achieve the dyeing.
Example 1: An electrolytically surface-oxidized aluminum foil is patterned in bright colors in the following way: A fat printing mass is prepared from colorless beeswax, which contains 3% of its weight with chrysoidin, fat-soluble (Schultz, dye tables, 5th edition No. 33) is colored yellow.
Using warm matrices, this fat printing mass is printed in a liquid state in patterns on the film, or also applied in patterns to the film from a heated spray gun using stencils. A yellow-orange colored pattern is obtained on the aluminum. In a subsequent aqueous bath of 3% alizarine saphirol B (Schultz V, 858), dyeing is carried out for 20 minutes at 30 ° and then rinsed.
The previously applied orange pattern is not influenced by this dye bath, while the unprinted areas are colored homogeneously deep blue.
Example 2: An aluminum sheet with an oxidic layer is patterned by means of warmed matrices and colorless hard paraffin, then printed with a second pattern, in turn with a heated matrice, using hard paraffin which is treated with a pigment, e.g. . B. chrome green (Schultz V, 97174) is mixed. After this printing process, the unprinted portion of the oxide layer is colored with an aqueous solution of whale orange (Schultz V, 250) in shades of orange if the dyeing is carried out at 40 o for 20 minutes. The end product obtained is an orange colored ground with shiny metallic and green patterns.
Example 3: A solution of 100 parts of alcohol, 20 parts of turpentine, 50 parts of linseed oil and 1-5 parts of an oil-soluble dye is applied to surface-oxidized aluminum using a spray gun and stencils. After this pattern has dried, the base is colored blue-red with azo fuchsine (Schultz V, 147) in a 2% aqueous solution. The sprayed pattern is not colored.
