Device for wet treatment and drying of freshly spun rayon threads in a continuous operation. Processes have already been known according to which freshly spun rayon threads, which require wet treatment and subsequent drying, are routed in screw windings over guide cylinders and, at this transition, with the necessary aftertreatment fluids for the purpose of desulphurisation, acidification, Bleaching, reviving,
Washing and the same treats. Such guide cylinders have often taken the form of reel-like organs and the screw-like course of the thread on these trans port organs was effected either by suitable movements of the individual slats of a sol chen slat cylinder or by arranging lateral guide hooks or transfer rollers and the like.
Finally, it has also been proposed to use entire groups of cylinders for guiding the thread, consisting of two or more cylinders which were slightly inclined towards one another in their position and in this way brought about the helical progression of the thread. It has also been proposed to subject the freshly spun rayon threads to the wet treatment on one and the same slat cylinder in a first zone and to bring dry air onto the slat cylinder and the threads to act in the second zone. Others have preferred to route the thread to be dried over separately stored drying cylinders or drying air rooms.
The present invention is also based on a guide cylinder, the sen wall, at least as far as it is used for drying, is designed as a full coherent surface, and it who the two operations, wet treatment and drying, on successive windings of the running the cylinder guided thread.
On the first part of the guide cylinder or the guide cylinder group, the wet treatment takes place in any suitable form, for example by trickling. As the screw-shaped movement progresses over the rotating cylinder, the thread then arrives in the drying zone, that is to say on that part of the cylinder wall which is designed as a full surface and which is heated by an associated heating device.
According to the most favorable embodiment, in the drying zone a high-temperature heating medium is applied directly to those points of the cylinder in the heating zone on which the rayon turns do not come to lie or at least do not lie at the moment of the action. The high-temperature heating medium therefore comes into direct contact with the cylinder walls, but unlike conventional air heating, it does not come into direct contact with the rayon.
As a high-temperature heating medium, a special high-temperature heating gas from a combustion device is envisaged, which is to be brought into effect directly on the cylinder walls in the heating zone. The high-temperature heating medium, for example the high-temperature combustion gas, can be brought into action on the transport cylinder in the drying zone both from the inside and from the outside. In the first case, the cylinder or cylinders expediently consists, at least in the area of the dry zone, from a fire-resistant and at the same time highly thermally conductive material, such as nickel or special steel.
In those cases where the cylinder or cylinders have to be heated from the outside, it is preferable to use fire-resistant materials for these cylinders that are poorly conductive at the same time, and it has been found that in this case clay or especially porcelain pipes are excellent Provide services that can easily be sanded in unglazed, somewhat porous form, withstand the required temperatures and temperature differences and are difficult to cut into due to the cellulose threads.
According to a very useful embodiment of the device, two almost parallel cylinders are used, the axes of which form a small angle to one another, so that the artificial threads are guided over them in helical lines during the rotation of the cylinders in a manner known per se.
The wet treatments, for example by sprinkling, are then carried out on the first part of this cylinder pair. The other side of the pair of cylinders is designed as a drying zone, and there the high-temperature heating medium is brought into action directly on the cylinder walls, but only in those places where the high-temperature heating medium cannot directly hit the artificial silk windings, be it the artificial silk windings over the respective ones Area parts do not go or at least do not lie on them at the moment of transfer.
It is enough that one cylinder of the pair, namely. the one that you want to heat consists of the fire-resistant material that conducts heat well or poorly. However, both cylinders made of refractory material can also be selected at least in the drying zone and both can be heated under order.
If you want to heat the cylinders from the inside in the drying zone, we recommend using a fire-resistant, highly conductive material such as Monel metal, V2A steel, other special steels, nickel and the like; while the use of a fireproof, poorly conductive material is preferable for outside heating, as tests have shown.
The external heating of the cylinders in the drying zone can be done by placing the high-temperature heating medium, for example the combustion gases in the form of burned luminous gas, water gas, generator gas, in the space between the two cylinders on one or both cylinder surfaces, where the art silk threads at the transition over the cylinder which does not rest, is brought to action.
It is then possible in an economical way to press the heat, for example from high-temperature combustion gases, directly onto the cylinder segment free of thread windings and this heat is immediately released to the rayon windings as the cylinder rotates continuously. This heating can be carried out, for example, in that gas burners are expediently distributed with many small flames in a linear or planar manner and brought into the immediate vicinity of the designated free segments of the cylinder in the drying zone.
Instead of the usual matching constant glass burners, devices can also be used, as are known in the tech nology of flameless combustion of Leuebt and power gases. Such surfaces can be given an appropriate shape by directing their effective length against the surface of rotation to be limited and being appropriately and adapted for a short distance to the vaulting of the same, while the remaining parts of this burner can be protected against heat radiation by insulation.
The individual cylinders of a twisted pair of guide cylinders can be built in the same way, of more or less uniform diameter everywhere, and of the same substance for their length. The heat flowing out of the heating zone after the wet treatment zone can be conveniently used for continuous and simultaneous heating of the washing and other sprinkling water.
But you can also make that part of the cylinder, which is assigned to the wet treatment processes, from a different material than that in the dry zone, or give this part of the rotary body a different structural design without giving up a uniform body of revolution. It is not essential that the diameter of the cylinder is absolutely the same in all sections, or that the entire surface represents a uniform, closed jacket surface without any interruption. The surface can, for example, have perforations in the part located in front of the drying section.
For special purposes it can also be provided that the heat is radiated through conduction from the drying zone into the wet treatment, and for such purposes it has proven to be advantageous to place insulating washers, insulating rings or the insulating rings between the two departments of the cylinder or of the rotating body insert the same.
The invention makes it possible to simplify the Appara ture for the continuous production of rayon to a surprising extent and to localize a smaller space. The direct introduction of a heating medium, especially in the form of high-temperature combustion gases. to the cylinder surface in such a way that the sensitive rayon threads themselves are not hit directly, it makes it possible to carry out the drying of the rayon in a continuous operation in an economical manner and to overcome the previous difficulties.
Especially in those cases. where the artificial silk thread in the drying zone is alternately led away from the drying cylinder and then returned to it, something takes place on the thread that could be referred to as an ironing effect and which makes twisting and sizing superfluous for many purposes of using rayon because this closes the thread shaft and is condensed and in this way the twisting and even finishing is established. In the further course of the artificial silk processing, especially when washing, dyeing and the like, the required opening of the thread takes place again by itself. The drawing shows the invention in four exemplary embodiments.
It shows Fig. 1 a partial view of a Spinnvor direction with a gas burner for He heating the heating zone of the cylinder, Fig. 2 is a cross section of the same device, Fig. 3 is a similar device, but with a surface burner instead of the gas burner in cross section.
4 shows the device shown in section in FIG. 3 in elevation (partially in section), FIG. 5 shows a view of a further embodiment, FIG. 6 shows a partial longitudinal section of a fourth embodiment.
The device for treating the rayon according to FIGS. 1 and 2 consists of two driven treatment cylinders 1 and 2, of approximately the same size, to which the thread is fed from a spinning device not shown in the drawing. The thread is guided in helical turns on these cylinders, which is achieved by arranging the cylinders at an angle to one another. The cylinders are covered at the lower end by an inclined plate 11 from the other parts of the machine in order to protect them from splashing water. In addition, the liquid that drips off the cylinders is drained through this plate.
To treat the thread, the treatment capability is supplied from spray tubes 3, 4 by the cylinders. The liquid forms a layer of water around the part of the cylinder located under the spray pipes and runs off to the side, following the incline of the cylinder, in countercurrent to the thread feed. The upper end of one cylinder is designed as a heating zone and is heated from the lower side by a gas burner 5 be. The cylinder is expediently made of porous porcelain. To avoid further. that the gas flame is temporarily deflected from the cylinder surface by air currents, a screen 7 is attached to both sides of the gas burner. The gas flame can be regulated by an adjusting screw 6 with valve.
According to the embodiment of FIGS. 3 and 4, an upper surface burner is used in place of the gas burner, which consists of a heating plate 8 and a jacket 9. In this case, you are not forced to arrange the heater on the lower part of the cylinder, as is necessary with Flammenbren nern, but can also attach the upper surface burner above the lower cylinder or in any position of the cylinder. In this way you are able to heat both the upper and the lower cylinder and can then couple both heaters through a connecting pipe 10 and needs only one supply line for the gas in this case.
The liquid is supplied through the tubes 13, 14, 15, 2, 6, specifically both to the lower cylinder 17 and to the upper cylinder 16.
5 shows a device in which only one treatment cylinder 18 is provided, which is sprinkled with liquid through the pipes 19, 20 and heated by the heating device 12 in its front, higher end. The left half of the cylinder is made of glass, the right half of porcelain. Between the two parts, a narrow insulating zone 2: 7 is provided, which can consist of a layer of air or an intermediate layer of mica, asbestos or the like.
So that the thread runs in the direction from the wet treatment zone to the drying zone in regular screw turns over the cylinder 18, a free-running or positively driven roller 21 is arranged, the axis of which with the axis of the cylinder 18 forms an acute angle. The guide roller 21 can also be set by a so-called guide rake (that is to say a rod with eyelets or incisions for each thread turn) or by a number of free-running guide rollers and the like.
6 shows another device in which the heat is supplied to the drying zone 23 of the cylinder 22 from the inside by the heat source 24. In this case, the entire treatment cylinder or at least the part of the same that falls into the drying zone must expediently consist of a thermally conductive material. In this embodiment, the thread is guided in a spiral path by means of freely running guide rollers 25.
