Process for the preparation of a trisazo dye. It has been found that valuable azo dyes can be obtained by using the diazo compound of aminodisazo dyes which are obtained by coupling a mono diazo compound with a monoazo carbate obtained from a 4,4-tetrazodiphenyl and 1 mol of 1 amir) o -8-naphtol-3,6- or -4,
6-disulfonic acid are available with those substitution products of m-aminophenol which are only able to couple in the o-position to the amino group.
The dyes obtainable in this way dye cotton in greenish, blue to deep black shades of good acid fastness. The dyes also have the valuable property of dyeing mixed fabrics made from a wide variety of fibers, such as cotton, wool, silk and rayon fibers.
The present patent relates to a process for the production of a tris azo dye. It is characterized in that the diazo compound of the amino disazo dye, which is obtained by coupling diazobenzene to the monoazo dye obtainable by acid coupling from 4,4'-tetrazodiphenyl and 1 mole of 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,6 -disulfonic acid, combined with 6-chloro-3-amirrophenol.
Example: 184 kg of benzidine are tetrazotized in the usual way and coupled with 341 kg of 1-amino-8-oxyrraphthalene-3,6-disulphonic acid with mineral acidic acid. After the formation of the intermediate product has ended, it is further combined in an alkaline soda with a diazobenzene solution prepared from 93 kg of aniline. After the diazobenzene has disappeared, an aqueous solution of 180 kg of hydrochloric acid 6-chloro-3-aminophenol is added.
The dye obtained in this way is worked up in the usual way with acetic acid or alkaline soda. It dyes cotton in greenish black shades of very good acid fastness.
