Description

Process for treating the spun material in the production of rayon from viscose solution. In the production of artificial threads and similar structures from viscose solution, the technique generally used in technology is to excrete the artificial structures in an acidic liquid. The spinning mass is probably coagulated, but not yet ready for use because the spinning material is still in the unsolidified, swollen state.

The invention now relates to a method for treating the spun material in the manufacture of rayon from viscose solution, in which the spun material emerging from an acidic precipitation bath while it is not yet fully hardened; is passed directly through a hot water bath which completes its solidification. This process is characterized by the fact that the spun material is subjected to strong tension as it passes through the hot water bath and, after leaving the bath, is directed onto winding bobbins.

One can proceed, for example, in the following way: The spinning material emerging from an acidic precipitating liquid is immediately pulled through a distance of 50 cm in a hot, flowing water bath of approx. 700 C while it has not yet completely hardened at the same time exposed to great tension. For this purpose, the spun material is passed z. B. on roles or other ge suitable guides that it by the fact that they extend its path and increase the friction resistance, throw a tension under.

It is known per se to stretch the artificial threads. In the known processes, however, this process takes place in the first precipitation bath, in which the thread still has a completely soft and elastic character, and its primary purpose is to pull the thread out to a greater fineness. In the method described, on the other hand, the spun material, which has already hardened to a greater extent, is stretched under the action of the hot aqueous liquid, with a noticeable reduction in cross-section occurring. A substantial increase in strength takes place, the explanation of which is probably to be sought in a shift and parallel position of the cellulose particles (micelles).
