Description
Schiffsantriebsvorrichtung.
Marine propulsion device. The invention relates to a ship propulsion device, and consists in that a very dome-like propeller arranged on a standing shaft is arranged in a rotatable, approximately S-shaped curved water duct, for the purpose of driving the ship by means of a screw-like propeller always rotating in the same direction of rotation not only to drive in the forward direction, but also to change direction, steer and turn when standing still on the square by turning the water duct in different angular positions.
An embodiment of the subject invention is on the drawing provides Darge.
1 is a section along the line I-I of FIG. 2, FIG. 2 is a section along the line II-II of FIG.
a is the stern of a ship and b is a known per se, propeller driven by a non-signed machine through the shaft c. The screw is instead of being arranged on a horizontal shaft as before, wedged onto a standing wave d, and arranged in an approximately S-shaped curved water duct f rotatable around the screw, of which the vertical direction of the Screw moving water is diverted into almost horizontally directed inflow and outflow currents.
The standing screw shaft is connected to the shaft c by a bevel gear mechanism and the outside cylindrical housing of the S-shaped channel is connected to the control wheel shaft h by means of a spur gear mechanism g.
In the drawn position of the channel f, the thrust achieved by the whole unit is directed forward and the ship is driven in the normal manner in the forward direction. If the housing is turned 180 <B> '</B> by the steering wheel, the direction of thrust is reversed and the ship is switched to reverse. If the housing is rotated by less than <B> 180 '</B>, the thrust is adjusted more or less transversely to the ship's axis, so that the ship either changes its direction of travel or turns on the spot when it is stationary located.
In order to avoid a temporary thrust in the transverse direction when steering the ship, walls can be arranged on both sides of the rotatable channel in such a way that they close the inlet and outlet openings of the channel f as long as it is directed transversely. The walls can also be arranged to be movable, in such a way that they can be rendered inoperative if the thrust is to be given a transverse direction.
