La fig. 1 est une vue en perspective du dispositif sous sa première forme, monté sur une machine parlante de type quelconque; La fig. 2 en est une vue en élévation à plus grande échelle; La fig. 3 est une vue en plan; La fig. 4 est une coupe transversale sui vant la ligne A-A de la fig. 3;
De toute façon, le dispositif pour graver le disque 9 fonctionne de la manière sui vante: a) On place un disque vierge 9 sur le plateau 6 et une aiguille à graver dans le porte-aiguille 23 du diaphragmeà-, b) on enfile l'oreille 11 du support 10 sur le piton 7 du plateau, le patin 13 de ce support reposant sur la caisse 1; c) on assure la liaison entre le peigne 16 et le diaphragme 5 par l'un ou l'autre des moyens ci-dessus décrits, fil souple, tige ri gide, etc.; d) on place l'aiguille à graver sur le plus grand diamètre du disque 9, en faisant pivo ter le conduit acoustique 3 autour de son axe vertical 4; en même temps, on déplace le peigne 16 en le soulevant au-dessus de la vis 14, de manière à obtenir la tension par faite de l'organe de liaison tel que le fil souple 20;
Recording device for phonographic disc speaking machine. There are already known devices used for recording sounds on discs with the aid of which the discs are engraved on a phonographic machine; these devices have a complicated mechanism, very heavy and expensive, or they require special discs having undergone a prior preparation in order to ensure the guiding of the needle to be engraved.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks. It relates to a recording device for a phonographic disc lante machine, comprising an engraving needle carried by the mobile acoustic arm and means imposing on said arm a proper movement on its guides when the engraving needle rests on a blank disc. This device is characterized in that said means comprise a drive member connected, on the one hand, to said acoustic arm and, on the other hand, to a member moved by the engine of the machine and exerting traction on said member. in training.
Preferably, the drive member is constituted by a comb forming a nut engaged on the threads of a rotating screw, this comb being able to move longitudinally on this screw without being able to rotate. For this purpose, the comb has a guide tail which is slidably engaged on a rod parallel to the rotating screw.
For another purpose, a lever can be placed on the comb, this lever by its own weight keeping the comb engaged with the screw and also serving to release this comb so as to bring it into an adjustment position on the corresponding screw. at the starting position of the needle in relation to the disc to be engraved.
The aforesaid rotating screw can be driven by a friction roller engaged with the disc or the plate and driven by this disc or this plate, which ensures synchronism between the rotational movements of the disc and the screw.
Finally, the connecting member interposed between the drive member and the diaphragm or the acoustic duct can be constituted either by a flexible wire or by a rigid rod, removably connected to one or the other of these elements.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention and two variants of the first.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the device in its first form, mounted on a speaking machine of any type; Fig. 2 is a view in elevation on a larger scale; Fig. 3 is a plan view; Fig. 4 is a cross section taken along the line A-A of FIG. 3;
Fig. 5 is an elevational view relating to a variant of the first embodiment; Fig. 6 is a plan view of another variant of this same embodiment; Fig. 7 is a schematic elevation of the second embodiment.
The speaking machine represented by FIG. 1 comprises a box 1 with a roof 2, an acoustic arm 3 pivoting about a vertical axis 4 and carrying the diaphragm 5. A plate 6 rotates on the box 1 by the action of a motor mechanism enclosed in this box; this rotary plate 6 carries a central pin 7 on which the gravel disc 9 fits, through its central hole 8.
The device ensuring the displacement of the diaphragm 5 for the etching of the disc 9 is constituted as described below: A support 10 contains and guides the mobile organs of the device; it has, on the one hand, a lug 11, the eye 12 of which spins freely on the central pin 7 of the plate 6 and, on the other hand, a pad 13 by which it rests freely on the body 1 (fig. 1).
On this support is mounted a helical screw 14 carrying at its end a friction roller 15 which rests on the engraving disc 9 near the center of this disc; during the rotation of the disc 9 driven by the rotating plate 6, the 1st roller is thus animated by a rotational movement whose speed relative to the disc is a function of the diameter of this roller and of its position on the disc. For example, a roller 15 may be chosen whose diameter is equal to that of the circumference along which it rolls so as to obtain one turn of the screw 14 for one complete turn of the disc 9.
The radial displacement drive member consists of a comb 16 for mant nut; this comb engaged on the thread of the screw 14 carries a shank 17 threaded freely on a guide rod 18 which is itself fixed on the support 10 parallel to the screw 14; this arrangement allows the pei gne 16 to move longitudinally on the screw 14 without being able to turn.
During the rotation of the screw 14 caused by the starting of the plate 6, the comb 16 therefore moves along a radius of the disc, 9.
A connecting member consisting of a simple flexible wire 20 (FIGS. 2 and 3) connects the comb 16 and the diaphragm 5 to one another; this flexible wire 20 is for example fixed at one of its ends on a stud 21 integral with the comb 16, while the other end of this flexible wire 20 forms a loop 22 which engages in a removable manner on the needle holder 23 of diaphragm 5.
The flexible wire 20 is guided by an ear 19 provided for this purpose on the support 10; this lug 19 thus prevents the wire 20 from coming into contact with the roller 15 whatever the position of the support 10 relative to the diaphragm 5.
Finally, the comb 16 carries a lever 25 whose weight is sufficient to keep the comb 16 in engagement with the threads of the screw 14; this lever 25 is used at the same time to maneuver the comb 16 in order to make it pivot along F (fig. 4) to release it from the screw and then slide it on the guide rod 18 and thus bring it into a position of adjustment on screw 14 as explained below In the example described with the aid of fig. 1 to 4, it has been assumed that the connecting member interposed between the drive member 16 and the diaphragm 5 is constituted by a single wire 20 working in tension.
We. indeed knows that the diaphragms of the speaking machines are mounted in cantilever on their vertical axis 4 so as to constantly tend to move from the center to the periphery of the disk. It is by this feature that it is possible to form the connecting member by a flexible wire 20 working in traction, the diaphragm 5 always opposing a resistance to the displacement of the periphery towards the center.
On the other hand, the wire 20 used as a connecting member ensures a drive of the diaphragm 5 which is particularly flexible, leaving the diaphragm free to vibrate without in any way affecting the burning of the disc.
The connecting member interposed between the drive member and the diaphragm can be produced in many ways; for example (fig. 5), this connecting member is constituted by a rigid metal wire 30 articulated or hooked on the comb 16, this metal wire carrying at its other end a ring 31 in which the needle holder is engaged. 23 of the diaphragm; this ring 31 thus leaving freedom of vibration to the diaphragm. A spiral spring fixed in its center to the needle can replace the ring 31.
In the variant of FIG. 6, the connecting member is constituted by a rigid rod 32 hooked, on the one hand, on the comb 16 and, on the other hand, on a collar 33 surrounding the acoustic duct 3 behind the diaphragm and fixed to this collar by a screw 34 for example.
In any case, the device for burning the disc 9 works as follows: a) A blank disc 9 is placed on the plate 6 and a needle to be engraved in the needle holder 23 of the diaphragm at -, < / B> b) the lug 11 of the support 10 is threaded on the pin 7 of the plate, the pad 13 of this support resting on the body 1; c) the connection between the comb 16 and the diaphragm 5 is ensured by one or the other of the means described above, flexible wire, rigid rod, etc .; d) the needle to be engraved is placed on the largest diameter of the disc 9, by causing the acoustic duct 3 to pivot about its vertical axis 4; at the same time, the comb 16 is moved by lifting it above the screw 14, so as to obtain the tension made of the connecting member such as the flexible wire 20;
e) the comb 1: 6 is left to rest on the screw 14, this comb 16 forming a nut and engaging in the threads of this screw; f) it is then sufficient to start the plate 6 in the usual manner and at the speed that is desired.
As we have seen previously, the dis 9 driven by the plate 6 rotates on its axis, while the friction roller 15 driven by the disc 9 rotates the screw 14.
The comb 16 engaged on this screw 14 and which cannot rotate, moves longitudinally along a radius, from the center to the periphery of the disc.
The diaphragm pulled by the connecting member, for example by the wire 20, moves from the periphery of the disc towards the center, the simultaneity of the rotational movement of the disc 9 and the displacement of the diaphragm 5 determining the formation of a groove engraved following a spiral whose pitch is equal to that of the screw 14.
It should be noted that the device described and its variants make it possible to burn the entire surface of the disc; their simplicity of construction and operation make them very easy to use.
In the embodiment of the object of the invention shown in FIG. 7, the radial displacement drive member connected to the diaphragm consists of a simple flexible wire 40; this flexible thread 40 attached to one of its ends on the needle holder 23 of the diaphragm 5 is wound on a vertical axis 41 fixed on the central pin 7 of the plate 6, to be actuated by this axis 41. during the rotation of the plate like a winch.
The free end of the flexible wire 40 which winds on return pulleys 42 ', 422 is biased by a balancing counterweight 43; this counterweight 43 thus ensures the constant tension of the wire 40 and its adhesion on the vertical axis 41.
This device works in the same way as the previous one; during the rotation of the plate 6, the vertical axis 41 ensures the winding of the fraction of the wire 40 disposed on the side of the diaphragm and the unwinding of the fraction requested by the counterweight 43. The result is that the diaphragm is pulled by the wire 40 from the periphery of the disc towards the center and the needle still traces on the rotating disc 9 a groove in the form of a spiral.
