Tableau d'orientation.
Orientation table. Geographical maps are already known, in particular town plans, provided with a rotary orientation needle.
The object of the present invention is an orientation table which comprises, on a rigid wall, an orientation map of the geographical location that one wishes to visit, this map being framed by a graduated circle and being covered with a transparent cover which protects it against bad weather and touch, then a graduated orientation needle, rotatably mounted in the center of said map and provided with a control mechanism, then a list of places or places to visit in said place, characterized by two identification signs corresponding to the graduations of the circle framing the map and of the orientation needle.
Everything is established so as to make it possible to determine, using the identification signs corresponding to the place or place that one seeks, by adjusting the needle on the graduation line of the framing circle. of the card corresponding to one of the identification signs and by fixing, on the needle, the graduation line corresponding to the other identification sign, the position on the map of the place or place that we have in view.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a front view; Fig. 2 is a vertical section thereof and FIGS. 3 to 5 show construction details.
a denotes a rigid wall, for example made of sheet metal, disposed vertically between two uprights and on which the card ii is fixed. of a geographical location (city, region, etc.). This card is framed by a graduated circle or ring b, divided for example into 120 parts or divisions. Behind wall a is a covering wall c,
to which is fixed a shaft d on which is spun the barrel e which penetrates through the wall a and carries an orientation needle f. The barrel e carries furthermore a chain wheel u which is connected by means of a chain i, to a chain wheel k integral with the hub ne 'of a rotary button operating mechanism nn, these parts being journaled at j. The needle f and the wall a are protected by a glass plate o against bad weather,
dust as well as against touch.
Below the K card is located on. the table a box N containing a list for example of places worth seeing (churches, monuments, etc.) of the geographical place represented by the map, these places being identified in the list respectively for example by an Arabic number and by a Roman number. In agreement with these i dentification figures, the framing circle b is divided for example into 120 parts or divisions 1, 2 ... up to 120, while the needle f is graduated for example following the Roman numerals I ,. II, ... XIX.
If a foreigner wishes to inquire, for example, of the position, on the map, of a church characterized, for example, by the identification signs 15-X (according to the list provided in box N), he turns l needle f by means of button m, until the point of this needle is on the graduation line 15 of circle b and obtains at the graduation line X of needle f, at the starting point. signed by x on the drawing ,. the position sought by the church.
Thus it is possible, thanks to the graduation of the needle f, to determine for each position of the latter, the position of nineteen places of the place in question. In an upper box r of the table bearing card K, the name of the geographical location may be entered, while side panels s of the table may be adorned with advertisements, etc.
