Auxiliary device for accelerating the filling and releasing of the compressed air brakes on railway trains. The subject of the invention is an auxiliary device that accelerates the filling of the compressed air brake line and thus the releasing of the brake and at the same time prevents the consequences of improper operation of the driver's brake valve when filling the brake line.
. When releasing the compressed air brake, as is well known, the driver's brake valve lever is first placed in the filling position, in which there is a direct connection between the main air reservoir of the locomotive and the brake line that allows for a large amount of compressed air to pass through.
If the locomotive driver believes that the control valves are reversed into the release position as a result of this filling, and the prescribed release pressure (5 atmospheres) has almost been reached in the brake line, he moves the lever of the driver's brake valve to the driving position in which the The mentioned direct connection between the main air reservoir and the brake line is blocked and a throttled connection, automatically mediated by the line pressure if necessary, is created between the named spaces.
Relocating the driver's brake valve from the filling position to the driving position requires a certain amount of skill. Sudden misplacing may cause, especially with long trains, a drop in the pressure behind the brake line due to a hurrying pressure increase wave, which can cause the control valves of the front part of the train to move to the braking position.
If it is laid too slowly, the main reservoir air may still flow in abundant quantities into the brake line if the prescribed maximum pressure has already been reached in this line, which can occasionally cause the control reservoir to become overloaded.
The purpose of the invention is to prevent the mentioned possible grievances, so to free the locomotive driver from taking special care when operating the driver's brake valve and especially from observing the brake line manometer, which prevents him from observing the signals.
The auxiliary device is intended to ensure that when the driver's brake valve is moved from the filling position to the driving position, there is still an ample flow of main reservoir air into the brake line over a sufficiently large flow cross-section if the full release pressure is not yet in the brake line was achieved. This ample supply of main reservoir air to the brake line is automatically stopped by the device as soon as the line is completely filled.
This is necessary so that in the event of an emergency braking from the train or a tear in the train, the application of the brakes in the front part of the train is not prevented by amounts of air flowing in from the driver's valve.
For this purpose, according to the present invention, the auxiliary device is designed in such a way that the filling valve opens the connection of a large passage cross-section when the driver valve is moved from the filling position to the driving position and feeds the brake line with air from the main container, bypassing the pressure regulator, and after completion - the filling of the brake system closes itself actively to normal line pressure and does not open again when the line pressure drops.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of the auxiliary device as part of a locomotive equipment is schematically; illustrates.
With 1 the driver brake valve is designated net, the slide mirror is shown in the known schematic manner to show which compounds are mediated in the various positions of the slide.
The numbers I, II, III, IV, V and VI designate the known positions: filling position, driving position, middle position, final position, service brake position and quick brake position.
2 is the well-known, automatic line pressure regulator, which automatically maintains the release pressure in the brake line. 4 is a brake line filling valve, 5 is a control tank, 6 is an auxiliary valve which regulates the filling and emptying of the latter. 3 is a control valve that monitors the named parts.
The moving parts of the connection are illustrated in their normal position, which they occupy brake valve and fully charged brake line when the driver is in the driving position. The following special illustrations show the positions of the control spool of the control valve in the service brake and emergency brake positions.
In the normal position shown, the piston g in the control valve 3 is loaded on both sides by the release pressure maintained at the prescribed level by the line pressure regulator 2.
The space D above the spool in the filling valve 4 is about .den channel d, the. Channel 7 in the basic slide S - whose normal position also means its extreme right position - the shell of the graduated slide Sa, the channel 8, the basic slide S and the open air hole o1 are vented.
The brake line pressure acting on the lower end face of the piston slide in valve 4 keeps the valve in the drawn high position, both line B, which is connected to the main air tank HB when the driver valve is in the driving position, is separated from the brake line L.
The space above the valve body in the auxiliary valve 6 is connected through the, channel c, the: slide bore 10 and the bore 11 of the graduated slide S ″ with the slide chamber of the control valve 3, which is connected to the brake line L through the line 12 Auxiliary valve 6 is therefore kept on its seat by the brake line pressure and the spring 13. The hole O2 is closed by the base slide S.
The container 5 and the space G to the right of the control piston K are filled with brake line pressure. The channel as well as the base slide bore 1.4, which is coincident with it, is closed by the graduation slide S. Pressure losses due to leaks in the brake line L are compensated from the main tank by the pressure regulator 2 via 15, c, 10, 11 and 12. These passages are so narrow that they do not interfere with braking carried out by the train.
If service braking is performed, the brake line pressure acting on the left side of the piston K is reduced and the compressed air in space G and in the container 5 moves the piston K so far to the left until the slide S encloses the base with play Frame rests against the resilient bumper z.
(Slide position II of the basic and graduated slide and position V of the driver's brake valve.) In this position, spaces G and 5 are via f, the basic slide bore 16, the shell of the graduated slide 8x, the basic slide channel 8 and the open-air bore o1 vented until the pressure on both sides of the piston K is equal.
As soon as the pressure in space G and in container 5 falls below the reduced brake line pressure, piston K is shifted to the right and graduated slide 8 ″ reaches the closing position, in which it closes bores 8 and 16. The vent the rooms G and 5 is interrupted.
To release the brake, the driver brake lever is first moved to the filling position I and then to the driving position II. Due to the fill level that penetrates the brake line,
the control piston K is moved to its right end position. The basic slide S returns to the normal position shown in the illustration below.
He can, for example, be held in a further shift to the right by a fixed stop lying in front of his right front edge in this position. The graduation slide Se shifts to the right in such a way that the slider clam stakes the holes. 7 and 10 connects to one another, and that the channel 8 leading to the open-air bore o1 is blocked.
The space D above the piston slide in the filling valve 4 is then connected to the channel 15 coming from the line pressure regulator 2 via d, the channel 7, the shell of the graduated slide, the base slide bore 10 and the channel c.
In addition, the channels .f, 14, 7 and d are connected to each other. Since the line pressure at the beginning of the release is below the normal pressure of 5 atmospheres set by the pressure regulator 2, the piston slide in the filling valve 4 is moved downwards and connects the line B via the amply dimensioned bore 17 with the brake line L, so that on This way when the driver's brake valve is moved from the filling position I to the driving position II of the brake line L main reservoir air flows in, which takes place via the Müschel 9 in the driver's brake valve 1.
When the control piston K is shifted to the right as a result of the filling pressure sent into the brake line and the one he explained above! Shifting the graduation slide S "to the right, the control container 5 and the space G located to the right of the piston K are filled with compressed air from the voltage set by the line pressure regulator 2, and this is done via c, 10, the shell in the graduation slide S", 14, f and g. As soon as the mentioned spaces have been filled, i.e. the pressure on both sides of the piston is equal, the piston is moved to the left by the spring,
until it rests on the basic slide S, the graduated slide occupying the normal position drawn. The space D above the piston slide in the filling valve 4 is vented via d, 7, the mussel in the graduated slide S a, the, basic slide channel 8 and the open air bore o1.
The brake line air moves the piston slide in the filling valve 4 upwards, thus interrupting the direct connection between the line B connected to the main air reservoir via the shell 9 of the pilot valve and the brake line L.
The time within which the filling valve 4 fills the brake line L corresponds to the pressure drop achieved in the space G respectively during braking. in the container 5, is therefore directly proportional to the pressure drop in the brake line.
In the event of an emergency braking from the train and an emergency braking initiated by the locomotive, the pressure on the left side of the piston K drops rapidly until the brake line is completely emptied. The control piston g is thereby brought into its extreme left position, position III. In this position, the upper side of the auxiliary valve 6 via the channel 19, the bore o ", the base slide bore 8, the shell of the graduated slide, the base slide bore 7 and the open air bore o, - vented.
The auxiliary valve 6 is moved upwards against the action of the spring 13 by the pressure in the container. This breaks the connection between g and f. There. the hole H is also blocked by the base slide, so the loading container 5 is not vented even when the valve body in the auxiliary valve 6 is raised.
Only when a filling surge is put into the brake line and the slide and the control piston K of the control valve 3, as described above when releasing the brake, go into the right end position, is the bore H connected to the open-air bore o3, and the control container 5 and the space G connected to it is vented until the spring 1 $ pushes the auxiliary valve 6 back down. Once this has happened, there is again the connection between f and g, the loading container 5 is filled again by c with 10, the mussel in the graduation slide S, 14 and f in connection.
The time it takes for spaces 5 and G to be filled determines the time it takes for the filling pipe L over the large cross-section. The delay in emptying the nozzle container 5 in the event of emergency braking, Zugtrennun conditions and the like happens for the following reason: In such an event, the brake line is completely emptied, while the pressure in the auxiliary containers only drops to .den equalization pressure of 3.5 atmospheres.
As a result, the filling of the line over the large cross section of the filling valve 4 would take as long as if the auxiliary container were completely vented when the container 5 is empty. This would result in the large filling cross-section in the filling valve being left open for an excessively long period of time, so that an emergency braking which may have been carried out when starting up would remain ineffective.
