Process for the production of electrically insulating fittings with an open, equally thick profile cross-section. The invention relates to a new process for the production of electrically insulating molded pieces with an open, equally thick profile cross-section, and consists in first winding strip-shaped insulating material onto a mandrel in a helical manner, then removing the mandrel and finally the insulating body in the desired shape - press': t will.
This method is particularly suitable when the tape, for example a paper strip, is wound on a ruler-shaped mandrel so that after the axial removal of the mandrel a tubular insulating body remains, which then becomes a straight rod of T-shape or other Cross-sectional shape is pressed. If, on the other hand, it is, for example, the production of ring-shaped fittings, it is advisable to
to wind the paper strip on an annular mandrel, then to bring both into the die of a pressing device, then to cut open the paper body and to bend the cut ends, whereupon the mandrel is removed and the paper ring can be pressed into an annular piece of any cross-sectional shape.
In. the drawing shows the development of a molded piece produced by the new process. Of the means that are used to carry out the method, only those are indicated that are necessary to understand the essence of the invention. In Fig. 1, a denotes a ring mandrel of rectangular cross-section, around which a paper strip b is wrapped in such a way that a paper ring c is initially formed. Here, the paper strip b runs from the supply roll d, which, together with its support ring f, encircles the winding point, while at the same time the winding mandrel a, in order to achieve the required feed rate, is rotated right.
When the paper ring c is finished, it is removed together with its mandrel a from the hinged ring f (not shown) and placed on the ring-shaped die g (FIG. 2) of a pressing device. Then the paper ring c is cut open in the shape of a ring at the point h, the cut ends on both sides are bent open and the mandrel a is removed (FIG. 3). Now the male ring i (Fig. 4) is placed over the paper ring c and the latter is pressed into the desired shape (for example, angled or U-shape).
The further treatment of the ring c can, as is known, be carried out in multi-part compression molds by pressing together, for example with screw bolts or in a hydraulic press, in the cold or warm state. The tape-like insulating material can also be wound onto the mandrel in such a way that the pitch angle of the tape changes from winding layer to winding layer, so that adjacent winding layers overlap in order to increase the strength of the winding. It is also possible to use a coated or impregnated insulating tape with paint or resin, and to bake the molding after pressing.
The fittings so produced can be used for a wide variety of purposes, for example as protective caps for high-voltage windings of transformers. They have the advantage that they are not only particularly reliable, but also cheap, as their production takes relatively little time.
