Steam turbine, in which the same substance is used as a lubricant for a Zager and as a propellant for the turbine. The invention relates to a steam turbine in which the same substance is used as a lubricant for a bearing and as a propellant for the turbine.
In the case of steam turbines, the bearing on the low pressure side is usually moved outside the turbine housing and a stuffing box is attached in the housing of the turbine or one of the capacitors assigned to it. This oil-lubricated bearing has already been built into the turbine exhaust steam chamber and enclosed in a special housing that is sealed off from the exhaust steam chamber by a stuffing box. The space of this storage house was connected to the atmosphere. In addition, special drainage, paint steam and pressure oil lines were provided, which, however, could never entirely prevent the lubricating oil (oil fumes) from mixing with the steam and thus with the condensate.
According to the present invention, a substantial simplification in structural and operational terms is achieved in that the bearing, which is lubricated with the same substance as it is used as the driving means for the turbine, is installed in the steam space adjoining the outlet side of the turbine rotor , and that the lubricant supplied from the outside into this bearing flows directly into that steam chamber, so that at the low-pressure end of the turbine both a stuffing box for sealing against the atmosphere and a stuffing box for sealing the inside of the bearing against the rotor on the outlet side of the turbine subsequent steam room can be dispensed with. The bearing can expediently be lubricated with condensate.
In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is exemplified and illustrated schematically, namely the figure shows a section through a steam turbine with a horizontal axis and a surface condenser attached directly to it.
1 denotes the impellers of the steam turbine and 2 the condenser, the cooling tubes are denoted by 3. In the space 5 located between the last impeller 1 of the turbine and the condenser 2, that is to say in the steam space adjoining the outlet side of the turbine rotor, vacuum prevails. In the room. 5, a support bearing 6 for the low-pressure end of the turbine shaft 7 is installed. This bearing 6 is thus exposed to the negative pressure prevailing in space 5 in that no stuffing box is provided in connection with bearing 6. A line 8 for supplying lubricant is connected to the bearing a, with a valve 9 built into the line 8, the supply of lubricant to the bearing 6 being prevailing.
The line 8 is in turn connected to a line 10, which is connected at the upper end to a storage container 11 and at the lower end to the pressure port of the condensate pump 12, so that when the valve 9 is open, condensate is transferred to the bearing 6 even during start-up Lubricant flows in - The condensate flowing out of the bearing 6 and used as lubricant enters chamber 5 and thus back into the condenser. The inflow and outflow of the lubricating fluid from the bearing 6 are mutually dimensioned so that the outflow is blocked and therefore no evaporation of the lubricating fluid flowing through can occur on the working sides, that is to say in the bearing 6 itself.
Instead of connecting the reservoir 11 to the condensate pump 12 of the turbine in question, it can also be connected to a central condensate container of a system. If pure fresh water is available that can be safely mixed with the condensate, the container 11 can also be connected to such a fresh water source. Furthermore, steam can also be used to lubricate the bearing 6.
In any case, the same substance that flows through the turbine should be used as the lubricant for the bearing 6, although the physical state of the lubricant can be different from that of the turbine propellant.
The valve 9 can be actuated manually or actively. In the latter case, for example, it can necessarily be connected to the start-up valve of the turbine in such a way that this valve 9 also opens when the start-up valve is opened.
The invention can also be used in counter-pressure turbines, in which case there is then no vacuum but overpressure in the steam space 5 adjoining the outlet side of the turbine rotor.
When using the invention, at the low pressure end of a steam turbine it can do without a stuffing box to seal against the atmosphere and without a stuffing box to seal the interior of the bearing against the steam space adjoining the outlet side of the turbine rotor. This requires a structural simplification of the steam turbine and an improvement in its efficiency, since it is not impaired by any stuffing box leaks on the low-pressure side, so that the air pump can be used with the least possible stress and without sealing steam.
When applying the invention, the most advantageous and shortest connection between turbine and condenser can be achieved in terms of flow, as is also shown in the embodiment shown in the drawing, so that no vacuum deterioration due to a pressure drop between turbine and condenser is to be accepted. The turbine shaft is also very short, so that it can be used relatively thin and consequently the internal leaks are limited to a minimum.
For the essence of the invention, the position of the longitudinal axes of the turbine and the condenser, both individually and in relation to one another, does not matter; The design of the turbine and the condenser also have nothing to do with the essence of the invention. Instead of steam, any other fuel can be used as the propellant for the turbine.
