Expansionsschalter.
Expansion switch. The invention relates to an expansion switch, in which the expansion chambers themselves are the container for the switching fluid and have an upward direction ended outlet opening for the movable switching pin.
The shutdown effect of this switch is based on the sudden expansion of the switching gases in the expansion chamber. In order to achieve perfect extinguishing of the arc, it is necessary to first generate as high a pressure as possible in the chamber and allow the vapors to expand suddenly. The switch is therefore all the more effective, the sudden the expansion of the gases takes place.
The invention relates to an expan sion switch with chambers which are suitable net for achieving a sudden expansion. According to the invention, this is achieved in that the passage opening for the movable switching pin is only at most 4 mm larger than the diameter of the switching pin. The purpose of this is to make the outlet cross-section for the switching gases and the switching fluid as small as possible during the shutdown process prior to expansion, in order to generate the greatest possible overpressure in the chamber that can be used for expansion.
In order to achieve the greatest possible flow resistance in the outlet channel, not only can the outlet area be small, but the length of the channel can also be made sufficiently large. The larger the diameter of the switch pin, the larger the ring-shaped outlet cross-section. In order to obtain sufficient flow resistance, the length of the flow channel can therefore also grow with the enlargement of the switch pin diameter. The increase in the flow resistance for the switching gases before their expansion results in a very high pressure load on the chamber.
So that too great demands do not have to be made on the mechanical strength of the chamber; An air chamber can be connected to the expansion chamber, which causes a pressure equalization.
It is advisable to arrange the connection line after the air chamber in such a way that the overflowing liquid cools the base points of the arc. With such an arrangement, a double effect is achieved, namely relieving the chamber while supporting the erasure. It is advantageous, when using tulip contact pieces, to introduce the connecting line centrally into the contact piece.
In order to ensure that such an air chamber does not come into operation at low powers, at which in general only little steam and therefore little pressure is generated, a valve can be installed in the connecting line after the air chamber; which only opens at a certain adjustable pressure. The liquid balance after the shutdown can be carried out through small connecting channels.
Since a certain loss of liquid occurs, especially with very severe disconnections, the switch can be seen ver with a device for refilling the liquid.
An example embodiment of the invention is shown in the figure. It means 1, the expansion chamber with its cover 2, in which the passage opening 3 is located. 4 is the movable switching pin, 5 is the tulip-shaped stationary switching element, 6 is the air chamber, 7 is the connecting line which opens centrally into the tulip switching element 5, 8 the valve with the valve spring 9, 1, 0 and 11 are small channels through which the liquid is equalized. 12.
is a placed in the funnel 13, filled with liquid bottle, the unte res end 14 with the liquid level 15 is at the same height. 1.6 is a check valve. 17 and 18 are post insulators that carry the switch.
The mode of operation of the arrangement is as follows: When the contacts .1 and.5 are separated, an arc 19 is created, through which part of the liquid evaporates. If the power is only low, the pressure in the expansion chamber will only increase slightly and the valve 8 remains closed. If, on the other hand, the output is high, the valve 8 opens and part of the liquid in the expansion chamber 1 is pressed through the line 7 to the air chamber 6. This increases the space for the resulting steam in chamber 1 and the pressure does not exceed the permissible value.
As can be seen, the liquid flows past the base of the arc and cools it. The escape of vapor and liquid through the narrow annular surface between the switching pin and the edge of the lid opening is small due to the large flow resistance in the flow channel 3, so that the pressure is maintained for as long as
when the switching pin 4 is in the cover 2. After the switch pin 4 emerges from the narrow opening 3 of the expansion chamber, there is therefore a very sudden expansion of the steam and thus the extinguishing of the arc.
As a result of the <overpressure in the air tank 6, the liquid is now respectively through the narrow channels 10. 11 pressed back into the expansion chamber. If, nevertheless, the loss of liquid is so great that the liquid level falls below the outlet opening of the bottle 12, so much continues to flow out of the bottle 12 until the normal liquid resistance has been established. Of course, the air chamber can also be arranged centrally to the expansion chamber.
This reduces the space requirement of the switch.
