Beispiel: 40 Teile 1-Methyl-2-amirio 3-rhodari-5- ehlorbenzol, Vergl. D.R.
Process for the preparation of a 2-mercapto-arylene-thiazole. It. it was found that 2-mercaptoarylene-thiazoles of the probable formula:
EMI0001.0005
(in which R denotes an arylene radical which can contain further substituents such as halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, arylamino or acylamino groups) in one operation,
if you have a thiocarbonic acid compound of the general formula
EMI0001.0014
wherein X is a residue that splits off in the reaction, e.g. B. 0-alkali, S-alkali or 0-alkyl, or their starting materials, in the presence of strongly alkaline substances and advantageously with the addition of a reducing agent, can act on an o-amino-aryl-rhodane compound.
Since alkaline sulfur act simultaneously as alkali and reducing agent, further addition of alkali or reducing agents is unnecessary in this case. Instead of the above-mentioned thiocarbonic acid compound, their starting materials can be used, e.g. B.
Carbon disulfide and alkali sulfur instead of trithiocarbonate or carbon disulfide and alkali instead of dithiocarbonate or also carbon disulfide, alkali and alcohol instead of xanthate. The reaction proceeds according to the following scheme:
EMI0001.0030
This equation shows that the reaction requires 2 equivalents of alkali. When using Na2S as a strongly alkaline substance, this corresponds to 1 molecule. This amount of the strongly alkaline reacting substance is used to split the rhodan group.
If one does not assume a finished thiocarbonic acid compound of the general formula when carrying out the process:
EMI0002.0005
but if the same is produced in the course of the process from the substances mentioned in the introduction, that is to say, for example, from carbon disulfide and potassium disulfide, then the specified amount of alkali increases accordingly by two equivalents.
It is noteworthy that the reaction comes to an end in a short time, usually when heated for a few hours, and leads to completely pure products.
The 2-31erkapto-ai, ylenthiazoles obtained are said to be used for pharmaceutical purposes and as starting materials for the production of dyes, but in particular as vulcanization accelerators.
The present patent now relates to a process for the preparation of 2-mercapto-4-methyl-6-clilorbenzothiazole of the formula:
EMI0002.0012
characterized in that a thiololeic acid compound of the general formula:
EMI0002.0017
wherein g is a residue that splits off in the reaction, e.g.
B. 0-alkali, S-alkali, or 0-alkyl means, a strongly alkaline substance and 1-methyl-2-amino-3-rhodan-5-chlorobenzene can act on each other and the reaction product is isolated by acidifying the reaction mass. An o-amino mercaptan is presumably formed as an intermediate product in the reaction, which reacts immediately in statu nascendi with the thiocarbonic acid compound.
Any reducing agent to be used serves to prevent possible oxidation of the mercaptan formed to disulfide.
The new compound crystallizes from benzene in colorless needles with a melting point of 252. It should be used for pharmaceutical purposes and as a starting material for the manufacture of dyes, but in particular as a vulcanization accelerator.
Example: 40 parts of 1-methyl-2-amirio 3-rhodari-5-chlorobenzene, cf. D.R. P. 491225, Example 1, are refluxed for several hours with a solution of 160 parts of crystallized sodium sulfur in 2000 parts of water and 20 parts of carbon disulfide, with another 10 parts of carbon disulfide being added after some time.
One molecule of the applied amount of sodium sulphide causes the splitting of the rhodan group. A second molecule, together with the carbon sulfur, forms the thiocarbonic acid compound.
After cooling, it is acidified and the precipitate formed is filtered off with suction. For purification, the crude product is expediently dissolved in warm aqueous ammonia and precipitated with hydrochloric acid.
