Description

  

  Verfahren zur Darstellung von     Thymoi.       Es wurde gefunden,     dass    man aus dem  nach dem Verfahren des Patentes     Nr.   <B>1275922</B>       o#ewinnbaren    Kondensationsprodukt aus     m-          Kresol    und Aceton in guter Ausbeute     Thy-          mol    erhalten kann, wenn man es im Wasser  stoffstrom auf seine Zersetzungstemperatur  erhitzt und die mit dem Wasserstoff gemisch  ten Dämpfe über einen     Hydrierungskatalysa-          tor    leitet.

   Der     Ilydrierungskatalysator    ist  zweckmässig     auf    eine Trägersubstanz,     zual     Beispiel Bimsstein, niedergeschlagen. Bei dem  Zerfall des Kondensationsproduktes bildet  sich     Isopropylen-m-kresol,    das unter den ge  gebenen Bedingungen zu     -3-Methyl-6-iso-          propylplienol        (Thymol)    reduziert wird.  



  <I>Beispiel:</I>  Das nach dem Verfahren des Patentes       Nr.        127522    erhältliche     Kondensationspro.-          dukt    aus     m-Kresol    und     Acefon    wird unter  Durchleiten eines Wasserstoffstromes auf    etwa<B>300'</B> erhitzt und die vom     #Vasserstof        f     mitgeführten Dämpfe der     Zerfallprodukte     werden durch ein auf etwa 200' geheiztes  Rohr geleitet, das mit einem auf Bimsstein  niedergeschlagenen Nickelkatalysator be  schickt ist. Die das Rohr verlassenden  Dämpfe werden kondensiert und das     Thymol     durch Fraktionierung abgetrennt.

  <I> Example: </I> The condensation product obtained from m-cresol and acefone using the process of patent no. 127522 is heated to about <B> 300 '</B> while a stream of hydrogen is passed through it. Hydrogen entrained vapors of the decomposition products are passed through a pipe heated to about 200 ', which is sent with a nickel catalyst deposited on pumice stone. The vapors leaving the tube are condensed and the thymol is separated off by fractionation.

<B>PATENTANSPRUCH:</B> Verfahren zur Darstellung von Thymol, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man das nach dem Verfahren des Patentes Nr. <B>1-27522</B> er- hältliche Kondensationsprodukt ins in-Kre- sol und Aceton im Wasserstoffstrom auf seine Zersetzungstemperatur erhitzt und die vom Wasserstoff mitgeführten Dämpfe iiber einen Hydrierungskatalysator leitet. <B> PATENT CLAIM: </B> Process for the preparation of thymol, characterized in that the condensation product obtainable by the process of patent no. 1-27522 is converted into in-cresol and acetone heated to its decomposition temperature in a hydrogen stream and the vapors carried along by the hydrogen passed over a hydrogenation catalyst.
