Process for the manufacture of detoxified, herbal products with a cell structure, not intended for use as pharmaceuticals. In coffee, tea, tobacco and other, poisonous substances and not intended for use as pharmaceuticals herbal products with cell structure are found in addition to the toxins components that have physiologically good effects on humans. However, it is essential, for example, to be able to supply the extracts or solutions made from such plant cell associations to the body in a form that allows this supply without damaging the body.
This is only possible if you put these extracts or solutions in a state that corresponds to that which the extracts or solutions assume in the body even after being supplied.
The solution to this problem is the subject of the invention. According to the method, solutions that contain lipids and tannic acid, which the latter can be natural or artificial or mixtures of these, are added to the materials to be detoxified, as a result of which detoxification occurs.
To prepare such a solution, one can proceed as follows, for example. Unfermented tea leaves or green coffee beans are treated with boiling water until the ice-chloride reaction is almost negative. The coarsest part is then filtered off and excess lead acetate is added, whereupon it is allowed to settle. The precipitate is washed twice with distilled water and then decomposed with acid to remove the lead from the precipitate, so that an insoluble lead compound is produced and the remainder goes into solution. Then it is filtered and concentrated.
The powder obtained is extracted with alcohol and filtered. The filtrate is concentrated again. In this way you do not get pure tannic acid, of course, but a substance that contains lipids and tannic acid. If you prepare a 10% solution of this substance in distilled water and add equal parts to it with a morphine solution and leave to stand for a few days, the morphine reaction (diazo reaction) disappears.
Example: After they have been roasted, coffee beans are sprayed with an aqueous solution while cooling, which was obtained by treating leaves and parts of the bark of the coffee bush in the manner described above.
The lipoids and tannic acid present in this solution penetrate the beans immediately. The beans treated in this way differ from ordinary coffee beans only in that, as a result of the combination with the substances in question, their toxins are rendered harmless.
