) fit a rotary switch combined fireproof plug-in switch. The object of the invention is a fireproof plug-in switch which is combined with a power switch designed as a rotary switch so that this rotary switch is switched on and off by means of the plug-in switch. Such devices, which were used in particular in garages or other places where an accumulation of explosive gases may be feared, should be made fire-proof in that the plug contact is de-energized when the associated contact plug is led or. is pulled out, 5o that sparks and the resulting risk of explosion are avoided.
The plug-in switch according to the present invention is characterized by the fact that in order to ensure fire safety by completely rendering it harmless or preventing sparks, on the one hand the rotatable switch part at its edge against an edge of the can by means of spring-influenced balls housed in the can lid gas and is pressed watertight and at another part a Verriege becomes effective by operating the rotary switch is provided, which allows the insertion and removal of the plug contact only when the circuit is interrupted, that is, when the switch is de-energized.
In the drawings, for example, an embodiment of an apparatus is illustrated.
Fig. 1 is a cross section of the apparatus taken along broken line 1-1 in Fig. 2; Fig. 2 is an end view of the apparatus with the male contact plug removed; Fig. 3 is a cross section along the line 3-3 in Fig. 2 and Fig. 4 shows the plug contact plug seen from the contact side.
In the embodiment shown, 1 denotes the socket made of cast iron or the like. A cover 2 made of a similar material is attached to the can by means of screws 3. At the bottom of the box, which is provided with insulating material 4, a rotatable current switch of a known type is attached, which partly consists of a fixed outer part 7 provided with ordinary contacts 5, 6 and partly of a rotatable inner part also provided with contacts 8, 9 nern part 10 consists.
The contacts 5 and 6 of the fixed current switch part 7 are closed by lines 11 and 12 on contact rails 12 and 14 attached to the bottom of the can, to which the incoming device 15 is connected (Fig. 2). The last-mentioned connection is attached in a pocket 16 formed on the side of the actual apparatus socket, which is filled with insulating material and is also closed by means of a cover 17 in order to obtain a gas- and water-tight seal.
With the axis of rotation of the rotatable power switch part 10, a rectangular block 18 made of insulating material is fixedly connected to the, which is provided with contact springs 19 and 20, the through lines 21 and 22 with the contacts carried by the rotatable power switch part 10 contacts 8 and 9 ver are bound. Said block 18 fits into a corresponding recess 23 in a part of a plug-in contact that is rotatably mounted in the socket 1 and consists of a metal sleeve 25 provided with an outer flange 24 and filled with appropriate insulating compound 26. In it, the sleeve contacts 27, 28 are attached.
These contacts are '(Fig. 1) closed at the bottom and lie with these closed ends against the contact springs 19 and 20 fixed in the block 18 so that they are electrically connected to the latter. The rotatable plug contact part 25, 26, 27, 28 rests against the outer edge of the can 1 by means of a packing ring 29 with the flange 2'4 and is pressed against this by means of spring-influenced balls 30 mounted in the lid 2. A reliable seal between the lid and the can is thus made independent of wear and tear.
The plug contact plug (FIGS. 1, 3 and 4) consists of a handwheel-like handle 31 made of insulating material, to which a metal tube 32 is attached which is filled with insulating compound 33, in which the two contact sleeves 27, 28 are attached speaking contact pins 34, 35 are attached. Said contact pins are connected to the outgoing line 36 in the usual way.
From the outer metal tube 32 are bent out on two diametrically opposed Be th lugs 37, which are provided with pins 38 which engage in the introduction of the contact pins 34, 35, in the contact sleeves 27, 2.8 in corresponding holes of the flange 24 so that When the contact plug 31, 32, 33 is rotated, the plug-in contact provided with the sleeves 27, 28 is also rotated, and the rotatable part of the current switch is rotated through the intermediary of the block 18 engaging in the latter part.
In the cover 2, a central hole, wel Ches fits to the cylindrical part 32 of the con tact plug and two diametrically opposite recesses 39 are provided, into which the protruding from the part 32 tab 37 can be inserted. Furthermore, on the inside of the lid 2 on hits 40 are provided, against which the Zip fel 37 are brought to rest after the rotation of the plug.
In the position shown in the drawing development of the rotatably mounted plug contact part 25, 26, 27, 28 in relation to the recesses provided in the cover 2 from 39, in which position the con tact plug 31, 32, 34, 35 in the Can a lead can be, the power switch 7. 8 is disengaged and as a result, the contact sleeves 27, 28 are de-energized. This means that sparks cannot develop when the plug is inserted. In the subsequent rotation of the plug in addition to the parts 25, 26 of the power switch is engaged by means of the block 18 and the plug receives power.
In the rotary switch, any sparking that may occur is of no significance because of the tight encapsulation of the power switch. During the mentioned rotation of the plug contact parts, the protruding from the plugs 37 tabs are placed within the outer edge of the cover against the stops 40, as shown in FIG. 2, dash-dotted lines.
In this situation, where, as already mentioned, the current is left on, the plug obviously cannot be removed, and thus no spark formation can take place. In order to enable the plug to be removed, it must be rotated back together with the part 25, 2-6 into the starting position, where the tabs 37 just opposite the recesses 39 of the cover. In this rotation, however, the power switch is disengaged so that when the plug is removed from it, the contact sleeves 27, 28 are de-energized and thus any risk of sparking is eliminated.
The rotary switch can also be provided in a known manner with push buttons, where the rotatable plug contact part 25, 26 can be provided with lugs or the like with inclined surfaces, which cooperate with the push buttons of the power switch when Dre hung said part, so that the latter depending on the direction of rotation either closes or opens the circuit. The current switch can also be actuated by vibrating the contact plug, for example about an axis perpendicular to its own axis.
