Device for the automatic control of switching processes ete. The invention relates to a device for the automatic control of Schaltvorgän conditions, etc. depending on the speed of electrical or other rotating machines. According to the invention, the control is effected as a function of the change in frequency of a current which is taken from a collector frequency converter, the speed of which is dependent on the aforementioned machines.
The particular advantage of using a collector frequency converter is that in the vicinity of the synchronous speed the changes in the speed correspond to the changes in the frequency that are relatively strongest, but the secondary voltage does not decrease with the frequency to zero as in other frequency-converting machines , but remains essentially the same. The control depends almost entirely on the frequency and is therefore sharply defined; on the other hand, the steering force does not decrease in the vicinity of synchronism.
The triggers of the switching devices do not need to respond to the frequency changes as such. Often the reactive resistances that are always present in the secondary circuit of the frequency converter are sufficient for frequency changes to bring about changes in the size of the secondary current that simple current releases respond to. The effect of the new device can be improved ver by additional reactive resistances, especially inductive resistances in the secondary circuit of the frequency converter.
This results in a particularly sharply appealing and yet very simple arrangement which is particularly suitable for electric traction vehicles.
The drawing shows an embodiment in which the new device is used to automatically switch from the start-up to the continuous operation circuit of a single-phase direct current locomotive converter starting with an auxiliary phase. It means 1 the single-phase asynchronous motor of the locomotive converter, 2 its direct current generator, which feeds the direct current drive motors not shown, 3 is the single-phase winding of the asynchronous motor, 4 its auxiliary phase with the choke coil 5. 7 is the switchover from the starting to the continuous operation circuit effecting switch. Its position shown corresponds to the start-up circuit of the converter.
In this, the winding 3 of the motor 1 is connected to the starting transformer 6 via the contacts 8, 9 and the auxiliary phase 4 via the contacts 10, 11. The collector frequency converter 12 is also seated on the converter shaft, the armature winding of which is connected on the one hand to a collector and on the other hand to slip rings via which the frequency converter can be fed from the auxiliary phase, for example. The secondary current of the frequency converter taken from the collector brushes feeds the coil 13 of the switch 7.
The aforementioned reactive resistances in the secondary circuit of the frequency converter can expediently be designed as damping devices. For this purpose, for example, the frequency converter with increased scatter and its stationary part 14 can be designed as a solid iron core (eddy current damping) or it can have a short-circuit winding 15 in this part.
The relay coil 13 also expediently has a damper winding (short-circuit ring) 16. When the converter wave is at rest or only running at low speed, the secondary current of the frequency converter 12, which has the same or approximately the same frequency as the network, is only small as a result of the damping. However, as the speed of the converter shaft increases, the frequency and thus also the damping of the secondary current decrease.
When the speed of the converter shaft and thus the current intensity in the coil 13 have finally reached a certain level, the switch 7 is raised and the switchover to the continuous operation is effected by opening the contacts 8, 9, 10, 11 and opening the contacts 17, 18, 19, 20 will be closed. As a result, the winding 3 of the motor 1 is switched off by the starting transformer 6 and applied to full line voltage. At the same time, the auxiliary phase 4 is also switched off.
The frequency converter could advantageously also be combined with the converter motor 1, in particular if this is a rotor-fed asynchronous motor. For this purpose, this receives, for example, an auxiliary collector which is connected to the rotor winding or to an auxiliary winding arranged in the rotor, which is linked to the rotor winding, for example, in a transformer-like manner. The control current for switch 7 is then taken from the auxiliary collector.
In systems with AC-DC single armature formers, for example, one can be used to supply the variable-frequency control current for the automatic switching when starting, by taking the control current for the coil 7 from the collector of the single-armature converter.
The invention is applicable not only to vehicles, but also to fixed systems. The new device is not only applicable for starting purposes, but generally in all those cases in which a switching, signaling device or the like is to be operated depending on the speed of electrical or other rotating machines.
