Locking contact device for electrical circuit. The safe use of electrical circuits may require that the contacting maneuver cannot be done without a prior operation ensuring its inviolability. Among the various applications, protection against theft of motor vehicles, the engine of which is fitted with an electric ignition switch with a lock, is often at the mercy of a driver's forgetting, either when This involves ensuring the closing of the safety lock, either when leaving, on the contrary, as a result of distraction or otherwise, the ignition key in the lock.
The object of the present invention is a locking contact device for an electric circuit comprising a non-hookable lock, the bolt of which is actuated by a key, and brought back into place with the release of the key, as well as a keep adjoining to this lock; this device is characterized by a second sliding gene, independent of the bolt of the lock provided with a contact strip isolated from the mass and having a face cut in a bevel disposed in the direction of sliding, on the side opposite to the bolt of the lock , the keeper being furthermore provided with a return spring push button acting on the bevelled face of the smoothing gene and two contact terminals, under which rubs in a given position the contact strip of the smoothing bolt,
the end of the lock opposite the key entry opening being provided with a safety spring return contact with the control rod engaged in the keyhole, all these components being established so that to close the circuit, it is essential to operate the key in the lock, in order to move the sliding gene to one side so that it closes the circuit between the contact terminals of the strike and then remove the key from the lock, which produces the closing of said safety contact, the circuit being interrupted by acting on the push button to return the sliding gene to its primary position without having to resort to the key.
The appended drawing, given by way of example, represents an embodiment of a device according to the invention for an electric ignition circuit of a motor vehicle.
Fig. 1 is a schematic sectional view in the shutdown state of the engine and FIG. 2 is a similar sectional view in a state before switching on.
The contact device shown has a hook-on mechanism 1, of any type, called safety, whose gene 2 can enter an adjoining strike 3 when the key 4 is operated in the hole 5 of the lock and return to it. the retracted position, in the lock, by removing the key.
The keeper 3 comprises a sliding gene 6 contiguous to the pin 2 and a beveled gene 7 adjacent to the gene 6. The latter, for example in insulating material, is provided with a contact bar crossing the mass of the gene from side to side. share, and having its ends 9 and 10, projecting the keeper 3, engaged in grooves 11 provided in the walls thereof.
In an axis 12 of the strike are arranged, opposite to one another, two contact terminals 13 and 14, well insulated from the ground and arranged so that the ends of the contact strip can make good contact with each other. a given moment, when the smoothing 6 gene is pushed to the 12 axis.
In the axis 15 of the striker is placed a push button 16 with return spring 8, acting at a given moment on the bi-sided face of the bolt 7.
An electrical safety contact 17 is screwed onto the lock 1, at the end opposite the key entry hole. This contact comprises an insulating plate 18 with a guide rod 19 sliding in the hole 5 of the lock and carrying a contact metal strip 20, able to bridge the gap between two terminals 21 and 22 mounted on an insulating plate 23 screwed to the lock itself. The plate 18 is pushed by springs 24 to maintain the contact between the blade 20 and the terminals 21, 22. The first of these terminals is connected by a conductor 25 to the contact 13 and the second to the conductor 26 of the circuit. ignition in which is interposed the lock with its striker whose contact 14 is connected to the other conductor 27 of the circuit.
The device operates as follows. When the engine is at rest, the various components are in the position shown in the diagram in fig. 1. Gene 2 has entered lock 1 and the bar of movable bolt 6 is out of engagement with contact terminals 13 and 14.
For starting, the driver of the car uses key 4, which he introduces fully into hole 5 of the lock to be able to operate gene 2. The end of the key, by stopping rod 19, pushes back. the plate 18 of the safety contact and interrupts the circuit between 25-26. Gene 2 slides into keeper 3 and takes the position drawn in diagram fig. 2 by pushing back the sliding bolt 6 up to the axis 12 where the bar 9-10 touches the contacts 13 respectively 14. The circuit 25-27 is therefore reestablished and it suffices to remove the key 4 from the lock so that under the action of the return springs 24 the complete circuit 26-27 is closed by the return of the contact plate 18 to its position drawn in FIG. 1. By removing the key, bolt 2 is returned to its original position in the lock.
In this way, it is no longer possible for the driver to forget the key in the lock, because it cannot start until the safety contact is restored.
The maneuver of gene 2 pushes back at the same time as the sliding gene 6, the twist gene 7 which comes to rest on the lower end of the push button 16.
When the engine is stopped, the driver no longer needs to use his key to cut the ignition circuit. It suffices to exert pressure on the button pus evening 16 by bringing it to position 16 ', drawn in fig. 2 in phantom lines, to push back the beveled gene 7 in its position 7 'drawn in phantom lines and thus bring back the pin 6 in its. primitive position in which circuit 26-27 is cut between contact terminals 13 and 14.
To restore the circuit you must use key 4, on the other hand, for walking, it is essential to remove it and as it is no longer used for stopping, there is no risk that the the driver forgets it in the lock and a third party can seize the vehicle and thus restore the circuit.
The pins 6 and 7 can also be built in one piece provided that the contact strip is isolated on the part embedded in gene 6.
The device described finds its application wherever it is a question of cutting a circuit and preventing its reestablishment without the aid of the key and especially of forcing the person pre-posed to the maneuver to remove the key in order to avoid untimely maneuvers by unauthorized third parties.
