Xaehine to work the land. The object of the present invention is a machine for working the earth, characterized in that it has tools capable of rotating around a vertical axis and a device making it possible to impart to these tools a rotational movement around the- said axis.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view; fig. 22 shows a detail; fig. 3 relates to a variant of this detail; as to the fi-. 4, it illustrates the operation of the embodiment.
This comprises a front end mounted on two wheels 1, and fitted with an explosion engine 2, as well as two teles guiding teles arms 3. On this front end is mounted, so as to be able to turn. of the vertical axis of the shaft 4, the frame 5. For this purpose, the latter comprises two struts 6, connected transversely by a screw 7, on which a nut 8 engages. '' press more or less into a U-shaped part, 9 and thus be fixed in the desired position as well as the frame by tightening the nut 8. The U, part 9, is solid of the shaft 4 which itself turns in the bearing 10 carried by the front end.
The side members 5 carry a sleeve 11 in which a vertical shaft 12 (see FIG. 2) can rotate freely to the lower part of which the tools are fixed. This shaft is driven by a gear 13 and by the shaft 14 connected by a joint to the cardan 15 to the motor shaft 16. To the sleeve 11 is fixed the guard plate 17 protruding from the frame on all sides. Fig. 2 shows the plate in elevation and in plan, inverted upside down, two hoeing machines 18 being fixed below this plate, to the shaft 12.
Before starting to work the soil, the shaft 14 is placed in the extension of the motor shaft 16; experience then shows that when the tools 18 are rotated (for example along the arrow fi), the earth produces not only a resistive torque in the opposite direction acting around the axis of the shaft 12, but also a force resistant having approximately the same direction as the forces of the couple and which moves the frame 5 around the axis of the shaft 4, in the direction of the arrow fà; a stop 19, carried by the frame, comes to rest against the front end to limit this movement.
If, therefore, one engages between the two lines of vine stocks 1r., 12 (see fig. 4) with the machine, when the guard plate 17. Is between the first two stocks, it rests on the vine. left and the shaft 14 is maintained in the extension of the shaft 16, but when the first pair of stocks has passed, by the effect of the above-described phenomenon, the plate passes, turning around the first stock on the left in the space between the first and the second vine, and this space is thus worked.
As we advance, plate 17 meets the second vine, it is brought back by turning around the latter between the two rows 1r, 1z until it has passed this second vine. After which, it will automatically replace itself in the space between the second and the third stock, etc.
Once at the end of the vineyard, turn the machine over and engage it between the row of? and the f next row, moving it in the opposite direction; it can also be passed once again in the opposite direction between rows 1r, 1,2.
Preferably, the plate will not be strictly horizontal, but slightly raised forward so that the first tool will only work the surface layer of the earth, the second tool going deeper; for this purpose, the screw 7 will be driven more deeply into the U-shaped piece, 9. Of course, the weeders could be replaced by other tools, for example by teeth or by small plinths and mouldboards 20.
When the work is finished, the frame 5 is separated from the front end by loosening the nut 8, then the frame and the turntable around the universal joint are suspended from the front end.
Of course, the invention is not limited to what is shown in the drawing. In particular, the front end could be quite different. It could, for example, be arranged so that once it is separated from the frame it can be used to move, thanks to the motor, various agricultural machines, such as band saws, straw choppers, grindstones, etc.
