Electrical time relay with an automatic coupling between the driving and the driven system. The timing of electrical relays often consists of a damping device that is activated when the relay responds and delays the expiry of the relay mechanism and thus the contact to a certain extent. The timer is usually built in between the driving and the driven system of the relay.
Since it is only supposed to have a delaying effect when the relay responds, but not when the relay returns to the standby position, it is known and useful, the same only either with the drive or with the driven; Relay part, which carries the contact device, to connect operationally undetachable, with the other part, however, by a clutch that is automatically released when the relay drops. The engagement and disengagement of the clutch, however, requires a relatively large amount of force and has hitherto generally been effected by means of the same relay electromagnets that were excited by the electrical quantity supplying the relay and caused the relay to respond.
According to the invention, the automatic coupling and decoupling between the driving and the driven system of the relay is carried out in such a way that the work for engaging and disengaging the clutch is carried out exclusively by the driving system, while the electrical variable feeding the relay only the release work is to be performed.
For example _ the latter consists of a motor-driven wheel, which drives at least one other wheel mounted in a rocker arm coaxial with this wheel, so that the rocker arm is swiveled around by the drive torque and thereby the wheel stored in it in or. disengages another wheel belonging to the driven system. In. the drawing is a timing relay gear of this type is shown in elevation and plan. As a motor respectively. The driving force for the timer is the spring a, on whose axis b the gear c sits and which is pulled up in the direction of the arrow.
The axis d of the second set of wheels, e, f is also stored in the fixed frame g of the relay and carries a ratchet wheel h in which there is no or insufficient energized relay magnet i the pawl k pressed by the spring z engages.
The frame o swings around the axis d between two stops m and n, in which two further axes, that s of the pair of wheels p and q and that t of the wheel r, are mounted; the latter axis t also carries the damping wind turbine 2a. Above the wheel q, the driven wheel v with the cord drum w is also arranged in the frame g, which winds the weight x up to the stop on the control apparatus when the relay is triggered.
The response occurs when the pawl k is released from engagement with the ratchet wheel 1a by appropriate excitation of the electromagnet i. Then the spring a drives the gear train e, e, f, p, q, r , dampened by the air resistance of the wind blade a4, the direction of rotation of the various axes is indicated by arrows.
Now when releasing the latching 70, 7z the entire torque of the wheel f is used for the acceleration of the following wheels p, q, r and the damper wing u at the first moment and thereby acts simultaneously on the oscillating frame o in the sense that this lifts itself off the stop in and brings the Ra; d @ q into engagement with the wheel v.
The engagement remains until the pawl k is reinserted into the wheel h by opening the magnetic circuit (i) as a result of making contact at g or for another reason. This will hold the gear f; As a result of its kinetic energy, the wheel q continues to rotate and, due to the counter-torque, moves the clutch rocker o out of engagement, so that now the weight x sinks down unchecked and the relay is ready for operation again.
If the drive mechanism is designed for operation in both directions of rotation, it is possible to couple a special driven system to the drive for each direction of rotation.
The invention is not limited to relays with toothed gears, rather it can also be used with friction gears, cord gears or the like. Instead of the spring motor, any other motor of any type can be used. The triggering mechanism can be designed in a way that differs from the example shown, as can the response element and the delay device. The latter can also be connected to the geared system instead of the intermediate gear.
